Physical Description

Standing at nearly five and a half feet, this middle-aged female Miqo'te has teal slitted eyes and a rather bright demeanor during the day. During the evening and night, however, her demeanor becomes lethargic and fatigued, and during these times she can almost seem to be falling asleep on her feet, and often has a cup of coffee well in hand. Thankfully, she is almost always accompanied by a female Keeper of the Moon, whom she seems rather close with and whom often goes to lengths to keep her awake- whether she wants to be or not.

Her appearance overall is rough and unkempt- speaking more to a desire for function rather than appearance. Her hair is cut short and flayed at the ends, as though she'd cut it herself with a simple dirk rather than spend a great deal of attention on it, and occasionally, pieces of foliage can be found among the locks. About the only amount of hair style she has extends only to her bangs, which seem to be bleached a slightly lighter color than the rest of her light brown hair. Her skin is well-tanned and appears to have a fair bit of dirt and grime covering it- giving the impression that she spends a lot of time in the brush doing something or other. Aside from that, her skin appears to be free of scars and other blemishes.

Clothed normally in some sort of tight-fitting leather armor, she keeps a pair of daggers at her side, a brown leather pack on her back, a well-worn fishing rod to one side, and an assortment of vials and potions around her belt.

Personality, Motives & Diet

L'anayla's personality is a reflection of her appearance. Although she is fairly personable, friendly, and easy to get along with, she is also very rough around the edges, blunt, stubborn, and headstrong. If asked for an opinion, she'll often tell it exactly as she sees it with a minimal amount of softening. She doesn't like to be misunderstood, and hates beating around the proverbial bush. True to her tomboy nature, she tends to be rather physical and competitive as well, going to whatever lengths she must in order to prove herself, but there is a subtle intelligence hidden beyond her simple ways. At times she can seem overly cautious and even paranoid about her surroundings, as though she were expecting an assassin at any moment. Her overall rough personality, however, is well-tempered with an incredible amount of patience that can occasionally be observed- especially while her hyperactive wife is nearby. During the evenings, L'anayla becomes somewhat more withdrawn and quiet.

L'anayla is motivated primarily by her thirst for the creation of new flavors of coffee and tea, as well as her regular hobby of fishing and the exploration of new places to fish. She hopes to one day open her own tea shop with her wife, Kipra. That's what L'anayla would have most people believe, anyhow. In truth, L'anayla and her wife are searching for something- seemingly in relation to the murder of a merchant that took place rather recently.

L'anayla has a wheat allergy and never eats bread or bread-related products, nor can she stand the sight of other people eating such things. She almost exclusively consumes meat- fish especially- and assorted vegetables. On occasion, she can get rather vocal about her belief in 'meat-supremacy.'

Background

L’anayla was born in eastern Gridania to one of the wandering groups of Seekers of the Sun who belonged to the Viper Tribe. Her upbringing was relatively normal, but even from an early age, L’anayla would rather play, roughhouse, and hunt with the boys than do something menial like weaving or making herself look pretty. She was something of a wild child and rebel within her own tribe, always consumed with a curiosity and inherent wanderlust to see the world. When she came of age, she promptly decided to part ways with her tribe and enter self-exile so that she could strike out on her own and explore life at her own, fast, pace. She became something of an adventurer and moved to Limsa Lominsa, where she adapted to city life as a thief and pickpocket.

Shortly after moving to Limsa Lominsa, she had a run-in with a Keeper of the Moon named Kipra Aliaru at the outskirts of town, who had also been in self-exile from her tribe and was also living in Lominsa. Kipra wasn’t just simply abrasive on their first meeting, and L’anayla’s headstrong and rough nature ensured a violent encounter. However, they proved to be fairly evenly matched, and eventually simply exhausted themselves. In the succeeding intermission of hostilities, the two quickly discovered they had more common ground than they originally thought. In the aftermath, Kipra began to see L’anayla as less of a Seeker and more of an adopted Keeper, and her racial prejudice against her softened over the coming days. The two of them became fast and strong friends, and ultimately, ended up getting married. To this day, however, Kipra absolutely refuses to acknowledge L’anayla’s tribal origins with the Seekers, insisting on referring to her as “Ana” instead. L’anayla, in a similar fashion, decided to give Kipra the nickname, “Kips.”

Today, L’anayla carves out a living as an avid fisher, tea enthusiast, and occasionally as a thief and pickpocket. There’s a bit more to L'anayla's story than that, but she's loathe to speak of it with anyone other than those she truly trusts.
