Summary

Known as 'The Demon of the East' to Garleans, Lhoa (pronounced: LOW-uh) hails from Doma and leads a rag tag band of mercenaries, pirates, and brigands that will take any job as long as it pays. He's loud, arrogant, brash, heavily flirtatious, an even heavier drinker, and seemingly unprovokable--though he welcomes a good challenge.

With his homeland leveled by the Garleans, Lhoa and his men have pitched their makeshift tents in Eorzea--taking up residence in the Mist, they currently work as muscle and military force for the Lucky Bastards. When they're not engaged in rigorous training and equally rigorous drinking, Lhoa and his Kujata do what they can to aide their fellow Doman refugees. Including, but not limited to, the merciless slaughter of anyone who flies a Garlean flag.

Lhoa now forges forward into the heart of Ishgard with his men and employers, ready to stain his massive claymore with the blood of dragons.

Appearance

Lhoa is an outlier of his race in size and mass, boasting a height just shy of 8 fulms with arms thicker than a Miqo'te's torso and a chest as broad as a Roegadyn's. His skin is tanned and pulled taut around bulging muscles and stripes of scar tissue. His eyes are a dark ocean blue offset by his fire red mane of hair that wildly frames his black scaled and horned head. Three massive scars trace his face from left down to right--clearly the sign of an altercation with a beast much larger than himself. Despite years of military drilled discipline, his constant swagger and persistent smirk make it hard to image he ever shined a boot.

Lhoa's garb speaks of his heritage--usually Doman in flavour with hints of his piratey trade littered about. The man isn't much of one for fashion, though. He's a warrior. A good set of armour and a sharp blade are all that he needs to complete an ensemble.

Standard Equipment

  • A massive, unwieldy claymore called Thronesbane
  • A double barreled pistol the length of his forearm named Jessie
  • Dice
  • Triple Triad deck
  • Flask or waist keg full to the brim of warm, hard Doman rice wine
  • A reed to hold between his teeth

Summary

Lhoa is a man who takes every opportunity to enjoy his life while he still has time to live it. He's skirted close to death enough times to know that the blissful few seconds of peace between battles are hard won and should be celebrated to their fullest. He eats and drinks to excess, will gamble, wrestle, and fight until he's gil-less and exhausted and will still somehow find the energy to sleep with anyone he's mostly certain won't break in half from a single pelvic thrust.

His bravado can be off putting to some, but for the most part he gets along with everyone. He's experienced a lot in life so there's usually something somewhere he can talk with someone about whether it's weapons, combat, triple triad tactics, or even how to roast a good boar. Despite being so boisterous he's impossibly hard to provoke--namely because he's large enough to kill just about any mortal being bare handed, so what's the point getting angry? But also because doesn't see a need for meaningless violence.

Violence with meaning, though...that's another story. Lhoa relishes in violence and chaos. He takes killing very casually and won't bat an eyelash at causing his enemies undue harm and torture in lieu of a clean and quick death. The bigger the beast the better the challenge. If he dies? He died well. If he doesn't? Then may he walk away soaked in blood he drained from other men's veins.

Beliefs/Philosophy

LhoaSide.png
  • "Praying to gods is like pissing in the wind. Feels good to get it out, but...eh...thought I had a good one, there. Hang on."
  • People shouldn't fear their government--governments should fear their people.
  • Honor is for fools. Ask a corpse where his honour got him.
  • Whining makes you sound like a bitch--if you want something to change, go out and change it yourself. Or hire me to do it for you.

Friends

SethProf.png
Seth - "Sometimes you respect a lady enough to not want to get in her pants. Maybe she's the one...who knows. Figure I still have a few years left in me before I need to find out for sure." The closest thing Lhoa has to family and his second in command of the Kujata. She, too, hails from Doma, where she spent most of her life running from place to place as a member of a Doman resistance group. In her early twenties she was captured as a prisoner of war by the Garleans--though she was quickly emancipated thanks to Lhoa. She handles the accounting and finance aspects of running the Kujata as well as an enforcer of Lhoa's policies. There is...some romantic tension between the two. But neither has ever acted on it.
Quinn.png
Quinn - "Kid's got a lot of spirit. A lot of heart and energy. But he knows when to tuck the smile away and replace it with the edge of a blade." Another member of Lhoa's makeshift family, Quinn is a hyur midlander so large he's constantly confused for a Highlander. Quinn was a Garlean deserter, conscripted as soon as he was big enough to learn how to wield a sword. He was captured and en route to the Garlean capital for processing when he was freed from captivity alongside Seth by Lhoa. He acts as Lhoa's third in command of the Kujata and handles all diplomatic interactions and contract forming. He's also their cook.
Excen.png
Excen Validus - "The best damned triple triad player I've ever played. Ever." Excen began as Lhoa's employer, but has quickly become a trusted ally and friend. Lhoa can count the number of people outside of the Kujata he would trust to have his back on his tail--Excen is that one.
Mhiro100.jpg
Mihro Tethra - "Guy gives me the creeps. Even when he's not in the same room it's like...you can feel him glaring." Technically his current employer, though he's never met him. The Ishgardian Inquisitor keeps to shadows Lhoa doesn't even know exist.
Menel100.jpg
Menelwen Veara - "The Miqo'te might be the boss, but she's the public face of the Bastards. A very hot public face." The person he most directly takes orders from in the Bastards. Lhoa thinks she has great legs, a nice ass, and is 100% certain she wants him. ((she doesn't))
Nyls100.jpg
Nylesa Tou - "Shit no wonder they call you the Lucky Bastards. How the hells do you keep so many hot women around?" Lhoa knows next to nothing about her except that she pours a mean glass of water. And is hot.
Blake.png
Blake something or other - "I think he's doing the Boss lady. Or trying to. He's kinda small." That's about all Lhoa knows about him.

Enemies

Asci100.jpg
Garleans - Lhoa will spill the blood of every Garlean man, woman, child, soldier, and civilian until the entire empire is stained red.

Usual Gossip

  • Brass Blade: "Seven hells, I saw the Kujata march on a Garlean patrol once. The whole hill was black with their numbers. It was a massacre--a sea of Kujata versus only a few magitech reapers and soldiers."
  • Twin Adder Officer: "Ah. Yes. 'The Demon of the East', or at least that's what he was shouting while he was pissing off the roof of the tavern. Had to throw the bastard out. Well...more like ask him to leave. Nicely. He's very large."
  • Little Ala Mhigan prostitute: "He's very large."
  • One-legged bar patron: "He was at the Wench a while back, he was. He and his crew. Whole night I thought to meself 'What a loud, obnoxious bastard'. Ruined me whole night. But when a few thugs came and threw me out of me chair, snapped me peg clear off me leg, he was the first one to step in. Fella gave me a ride home on 'is back. He's a loud bastard, he is, but...a bloody good loud bastard."

Bought Information

  • Madamme Brunhilda: "All I'll tell you is this--he's sweet to my girls, pays them well, treats them well, and will wrangle any of our other patrons that don't do the same for free."
  • Bartender: "He likes the doman stuff. Doman only. You try to serve him anything else he won't take it. Like some kinda bloody zealot patriot or somethin'."
  • Nervous Brass Blade: "...tell you what, yeah I saw him do it. Things are rough in Ul'dah right now, rough as shit. Especially for those Doman refugee bastards. But that Brass Blade chose the wrong alley to try and have his way with that boy. Came around the corner just in time to watch his brains ooze out of what was left of his helmet."
  • Keeper: "Lhoa. Good man. Saved many of us. Wise of you to not ask questions. Appreciate the tip." *pockets bag of gil*

Whispers in the Dark

  • Inquisitor Fayn: "He bares resemblance to a former Garlean officer last seen at the Golden Road Massacre. This information is unconfirmed."
  • Seth: "I can hear him tossing and turning in his sleep through the walls at night. Every night."

My in-game name for him is 'The Demon'. I would LOVE to meet you and your character regardless of where they come from or who they are--unless they're Garlean. In case you haven't figured it out by now, Lhoa doesn't like Garleans.
