Basics

Lothaire is of short-average height for an Elezen though generally he still stands a good few ilms taller than your average midlander. Appearance is as seen to the right. He has a number of scars, mostly to his torso and upper arms and has few other distinguishing features save the curved black tattoo on the left side of his face.

Personality

Lothaire is generally a reserved, quiet individual who keeps his thoughts to himself. Though he can sometimes be seen frequenting taverns and other establishments he tends to prefer his own company and that of a few close friends over rowdy gatherings of strangers.

The Elezen has a cautious, watchful nature; something he has always had to some extent but which became more pronounced during his time in Ul'dah. He tends to pay close attention to small details, a habit developed in recent years; much of which he has spent working as a security escort for trading caravans and individuals.

Lothaire appears to be an almost obsessive collector of books and scrolls, mostly pertaining to the areas of alchemy and Magi-tek development, suggesting a fascination with such subjects.

He has no head for saving money, often spending it as fast as he can earn it. As he has something of an obsession when it comes to collecting books and scrolls a large percentage of the Gil he earns ends up being spent on such things. In the past two years alone he has managed to gather a small library worth of texts and buying books to add to his collection is an almost compulsive habit.

History

Lothaire was born and raised in a small community within the Black Shroud, not far from the city of Gridania. He learned from his father how to wield and fight with a polearm, going on in later years to study with the Lancer’s Guild in Gridania. Four years prior to the Calamity he left the city of his own accord, spending several years on the move and falling back on his combat skills in order to fund his travels.

He eventually settled in Ul’dah where he pursued studies in the field of alchemy only to be interrupted with the advent of the Calamity. Forced to return to Gridania as soon as travel became possible, he found that his sister and mother had moved into the city with the rest of the refugees. He played some role in helping his sister found her own business in the city with which she uses to support both herself and their mother before leaving again, this time for Limsa Lominsa.

Two years ago he arrived in the port city of Limsa Lominsa and has remained there ever since working as a security guard for a small Magi-tek Research and Development company which was later absorbed by the growing XI:7.

Family

Lothaire’s family reside in Gridania where his elder sister runs her own business. His father and two brothers died in the Calamity.

Skills, Interests and Experience

Lothaire was raised in a community where the use of both bow and spear were quite common. He learned from his father how to wield both though he has always preferred the lance to the bow. After leaving Gridania he relied upon his skill with the lance in order to fund his travelling, taking up protection and bodyguard work for the most part.

Lothaire has also spent some time in the city of Ul’dah studying the alchemical sciences; with arguably limited success. This study was interrupted by the advent of the Calamity, and though he has managed to obtain a small number of texts on the subject which have aided him in continuing his research, he is still relatively unpractised in the art and his knowledge in this area is more theoretical than practical. Though he has managed to gather quite a collection of texts on the subject, all formal training has ceased.
