Caria lux Corbulo (Lux Placida) is a pureblood Garlean born to ranking Imperial officials in the occupied state of Othard. Raised by her family's Raen matron during her parents' frequent absences in service to the Garlean Empire, she tends towards pacifism in her attitudes. Despite this, she found herself drafted into Imperial R&D at the age of 16, where she served for nine years before opportunity arose. By that point she had gained the rank of Chief Technician (lux) and an assignment to the Imperial dreadnought Agrius, and during a brief stopover at the newly-conquered province of Ala Mhigo, she jumped ship and made her way from Gyr Abania to the Gridanian border on foot. She was subsequently pleased to hear that the Agrius had been destroyed at the Battle of Silvertear Skies, thus ensuring that she would be listed as MIA/KIA in Imperial records. With this (relative) safety assured, she settled in Ul'dah and found gainful employment as a tinker.

Of late, she's worked as a contract employee for a tech firm in Limsa Lominsa as well as with Garlond Ironworks, developing defensive technology to be put to use against the Empire.
