✖ GENERAL INFORMATION ✖

Luze is the epitome of "Wayward"- a Raen conjurer of Doma, turned refugee black mage- he is constantly moving. Emotionally jaded and fairly rude; Luze may be one of the skeeviest black mages around; at least, without some world-ending fantasy. He works on his own agenda, and will usually only move if it benefits himself in some way. Too agitated by consistent displacement, he prefers tangible and permanent rewards. That being said, those he cares about can always expect some kind of readiness. The snark, however, will never leave.

✖ HISTORY ✖

Eldest son of the Wyrth family, an order of Raen conjurers who took the religion of the Steppes to Doma. Unlike their underwater counterparts, Luze and his family never integrated the idea of the kami into their rituals and practiced traditional medicine as they believed the Dawn Father would have approved. The eldest of seven sons to one father (Whom had many a concubine)- was destined to follow in his father's footsteps.

The same footsteps that would eventually mutate conjury into an art of torture when the Garlean armies arrived, viscounts and matriarchs come to destroy the monarchy of Doma itself. With the emperor dead, Luze's father had cowered to the will of the Garlean blade and lost sight of Azim himself. Eventually, Luze would defect from his father's orders in an attempt to defend the vision of his gods. In turn, he would lose his own when his father would send Garlean soldiers to hunt him down. In the assault, he loses his an eyesight to an ensign, a thaumaturge. Such an assault begins decades worth of rage and vengeance in the name of his god, his honor, and his people.

Years later, he comes to Eorzea as a refugee, without home, family, and abandoned by the voice of his god. He finds comfort in the Ala Mhigans, and their description of Rhalgr. A god of war and lightning. A god of vengeance. Something which he could align himself with in an alien land. He joins the thaumaturge guild promptly after, eventually succumbing to the studies of Mhachi spellweavers and the ancient magics of Nald'thal. A vaguely godless man, who's emotional masks multiply with the stars, he takes heavy interest in the void and the beings which reside in the empty beyond. If he returns to Doma, he seeks to return with the powers of all things damned- a direct retaliation to the desecration of his conjury and a poetic revolt to the slaughter and entrapment of his countrymen.

A talented liar, drinker, and gambler- Luze conceals his purposes and drives under coarse swears and ornery hostilities. How far the holy can fall, he'll say, before breaking into the rasping laughter of a man who thinks of the sentiment as chocobo shite. Very few have been known to pry the sincerity from his crooked hands, but those who succeed have found a companion for life.

✖ APPEARANCE ✖

Luze is an Au Ra of Raen heritage, and stands at a fairly moderate height of 6'9". He is not particularly strong; while sturdy in size. His hair varies from incredibly short, to a slight overgrowth. His outfits tend to be rather outrageous, from gambling coats to the incredibly sharp hat of a seasoned black mage. When not entirely covered, it becomes apparent that his hands and wrists show signs of heavy scarring and a few callouses. A victim to terrible habit, his voice often carries a sound of smoke damage mixed with the accent he picked up during his extended stay in Limsa Lominsa upon arriving in Eorzea.

As of late, he has taken to wearing the white furred robes of his conjury combined with the symbol of the white, or "True" griffin- a symbol of the Ala Mhighan resistance and Rhalgr himself.

Aspects That Stand Out:
Luze has a fair case of heterochromia; where one eye remains a bright gold; the other white. The white eye, however, has a near-blindness to it.
Luze's color motifs range from white, black, and gold. On occasion, he takes favor to purple and other jewel tones.
The tackiest dresser you ever have had the displeasure of meeting.

✖ PERSONALITY ✖

Luze is incredibly sleazy in his usual demeanor. When he's not too interested in making friends; every other word may be increasingly vulgar. Quick to insult, or rather, outright ignore problems and people. Those he like may be confronted with acceptable low levels of hostility. Headstrong and easily frustrated, Luze is quick to take and make challenges; much to everyone's chagrin.

L I K E S

GAMBLING. Luze tends to frequent the Golden Saucer, and blames it on the triple triad habit he picked up while moving from Doma to Limsa Lominsa.
BAD HUMOR. The more reasonably awful, the better. He has had to deal with too much in his life to not laugh in the face of everything. Innkeepers? Fat Chocobos? The inevitability of death in Eorzea? All reasons to laugh, as hard as possible.


D I S L I K E S

GARLEANS. After a specific incident with his family that left him on the run from Garlean forces,he has acquired a specific sort of hate.
FAMILY. Specifically, his own. After his own family reportedly "Sold him out to save their own hides", he was forced to deal with the rising chaos of the Garlean invasion hands on. While the eldest of seven children, he has no idea what has become of his brothers and sisters. He does not speak of them.

H O B B I E S

ALCHEMY. A long period of conjuring and healing in Doma left Luze with a lot of time and resources to practice Alchemy; as the invasion gained traction, it became more of a necessity for the survival of his people and himself.

S T R E N G T H S

THAUMATURGY. He is incredibly adept at setting things (Read: people) on fire. His other talents include dodo roasting and ale-cooling. His cudgel doubles as a tool for smacking skulls.
HEALING. He spent the majority of his young life training to become a white mage, and eventually stopped when his situation in Doma left him without a family and trainer. Did some under the table dealings in alchemy and restorative magic until he could get on a ship to Limsa Lominsa. Not your first medical option, kind of scary, but will do in a pinch.
RELIGION. A man who spent his young life on holy pilgrimages to the Steppes and in a temple, Luze is well versed in magics tied to holy beings and the ideologies of said beings. This hyper-fixation extends to the study of ancient civilizations, and leads to some extensive understanding of what gods stand for; as for their followers.

W E A K N E S S E S

SUSCEPTIBILITY. Luze is the definition of a man who has lost all sense of oneness with himself. An archaic priest of Azim from a now defunct conjury to a "follower" of Rhalgr, and eventually a dabbler in forbidden arcana of Nald'thal. What was once a man who strove to help his countrymen is now warped into someone who revels in the forbidden arts; especially as a means to get what he wants.
TEMPER. With all his baggage, he is inevitably angrier and filled with nothing but contempt for most people and things. When upset, it can often lead to challenges, sputtering levels of rage, or fire. Astral fire usually will take precedent over anything else; while "Beating you upside the head with a cudgel" is saved for more mundane disagreements.


M O T I V A T I O N S

SURVIVAL - Coming from a refugee who has lost everything but his own sanity (Which, is debatable), he is mostly motivated by his own will to survive. Not for any specific altruistic reason, though. His motivation to survive is a sole rude gesture to the number of times where the gods have tried to drag him to the lichyard.
REVENGE - There is something powerful about the desperation of a man who has lost what he has held dear. In turn, he is fully prepared to wreak the same havoc, for he does not comprehend the idea that there is anything left he could lose. Mostly.
REDEMPTION - The hidden motivation of a man who has buried his devotion to his gods deep under layers of sardonic rage. Should Doma be liberated, should he survive, he prays that his actions may be enough to satiate the souls of those who his family have killed and those he could not save.

To say Luze has not spent most of his time as a refugee being aware of Khonrad would be a blatant lie. Originally on the same ship from Doma to Limsa Lominsa, they never truly spoke until Garlean tensions began rising further in Eorzea. That being said, Luze was the one to initiate conversation; as well as start the incredibly tense team between the two of them. While brash as hell, his personal history leads to him being a bit of a brooding mother hen to Khonrahd, in a weirdly romantic sense. Despite their positive connection, they're often doomed to miscommunication from experience and culture. Even so, Luze may often be caught muttering something about Nhaama and Azim, though it is unclear what he means by any of this.

Player Note
I'm Bird, and you'll learn quickly that my interests are sad/mad/smad mages and over the top amounts of drama over found families. I like to think I'm literate sometimes and that may or may not be entirely true. Who knows. It can be said that I RP in any style that suits my partner, and I'm generally up for any kind of nonsense you can possibly throw at me. Except some things. Some things get to stay in their nonsense pile and away from my face.
Personal RP Limits
This is a quick run-through of what I'm Chill/Completely Un-Chill with in regards to RP in general.
OCs I personally love interacting with original characters of any kind (Gender, Race, Moral alignment, etc.) and am totally fine with these interactions; I encourage them, really. It is nice to have a reference for your character that I may refer back to from time to time, however.
Walkups/Oneshots I don’t really require plots to have an interaction, because quite frankly, I don’t often have the brain energy for long plots 24/7. It also feels like oneshots/walk-ups happen to be the best for natural relationship development (Especially whem our characters don’t often/have never interacted).
Plots Even with the above statement, I can always appreciate a good long-running plot. I may be slow as sin, but it’s a bit of the perfectionist in me. If you want to plot something out, send me a message via Discord for the best results.
Sexual Content I’m 18+, right off the bat. It’s not that I can’t RP sexual content legally, it’s the fact that there are a lot of minors out there on the internet. That being said, I’m a little slow to trust people saying that they’re an adult/ believe that they can RP sexual situations because they’re mature for their age/ etc. No cigar. We can timeskip, we can mention it in passing (IF you are not a minor), but I will not RP it.
Godmod/Metagame This is kind of an obvious one, but be the Good Samaritan of RP and keep meta knowledge out of an RP, and try not to take control of my character’s actions. I don’t mind active roleplay (See: Your character leads mine into a house, and I do not repeat the “going inside the house” part.), but god-modding isn’t active roleplay. It’s just, well, boring.
Warp Personality Luze is an asshole. Full stop. He’s an odd duck with some bottled up baggage and it shows. That being said, I most likely will not hold up to any character qualities such as “Loved by everyone” or “Incredibly Gorgeous” unless the character themself would actually appeal to Luze within his character. This is the warning: Do not be alarmed, the mun does not hate you if Luze does.

As much fun as romance RPs are, Luze is strictly a one trick pony and isn’t up for polygamy. That being said, friendships are always welcome- but a good rivalry is always welcome as well. Not everyone loves eachother.

As such, he is, at his core, deeply similar in habits and personality (And some in looks, if you squint a bit)- but lacks most of what relationships and possessions he had in the comic; specifically for lore purposes. .

❇ CHARACTER TIDBITS ❇

Potential Plot Hooks
These are some things that you can use to strike up discussions with the lad himself, but almost anything will do just fine.
Luze's family worked in specifically treasonous ways during the Garlean invasion of Doma. Working with a false sense of piety and righteousness in return for protection by the empire, many Domans (Raen and Xaela alike) were left to die in the conflict. Luze was specifically sentenced to death after refusing assistance to a Garlean marshal; specifically over the health of another dying Xaela. He carries an incredible amount of spite for the empire, and incredible amounts of guilt for those he couldn't save. Rarely does he speak of his family, or the victims, or the patients he lost. But, if prompted, a tale or two might just slip out.
As a Black Mage; Luze is incredibly unstable. His mental health always seems to be in a very particular sort of balance. That being said, he suffers from incredibly odd nightmares, and often speaks under his breath regarding the void and infernal auditory hallucinations. There are specific jobs that have left him with his mind slightly scrambled, and getting him to clarify on what happened may be the task of the century.
There's a good reason as to why his eye has been damaged, and it certainly isn't genetic or a defect. The story changes every time, with some parts remaining consistent in loose ways. All that can be said: Someone or something gave it to him.

I’m usually pretty tight in my lore coherency in terms of FFXIV. Currently, however, I am in the middle of the “Realm Reborn” arc. If my lore suddenly gets a bit weird, pop me a message for correction..
