Appearance & Personality
Yazi often wears baggy comfortable clothing, his blue hair worn long and a bit messy with white highlights. He carries a tall hooked staff with a ribbon-tied bell on top, and can most often be found napping. He is more or less approachable, though often not terribly friendly to those with whom he is not acquainted. His favorite humor is slapstick.
Biography
Early life
Yazi was born in an offshoot of the Marmot tribe. His sire, the Nunh of said-offshoot, was rumored to have been banished from the main sect for the practice of foul magics. Shortly after the banishing, M'zaro bore a daughter, then a son from a Keeper of the Moon. The birth of the son sadly proved too much, his mother passing mere suns after bearing the male into the world. That male was M'yazi.
Whether because of the circumstances of his birth or his early failings in the art of conjury, M'zaro hated his son. Wherever Yazi's older sister M'yuma succeeded, he simply fell short, M'yuma ever the apple of M'zaro's eye. Seemingly by extension of her perfection, M'yuma loved Yazi. In fact, her efforts in standing up for him were likely the reason M'zaro kept Yazi around for as long as he did. M'yazi idolized his sister. She was everything he aspired to be and more, and she was his best friend in the mini Marmot sect their father struck out with.
In time however, M'zaro's intents with his daughter grew ever the more suspicious and strange. He would take her away on trips for moons at a time, the female becoming more distant with each trip. Finally, Yazi had quite enough of his gnawing curiosity, and followed. When he finally caught up to his sire and sister, he was too late. By some dark magical experiment involving the drawing of aether from living beings, of which his sister was a veritable fount, M'zaro drew too deep. M'yuma perished, and Yazi fled.
Recent years
Yazi has since discarded the use of his tribe's moniker in his name, wanting to forget his childhood and young adult years under his sire's dark thumb. He was nothing compared to his sister, but his conjury was still useful to those short on healers, and in time he became quite good. Yazi knew much of herbal and tribal medicines from M'yuma's secret tutelage with him, and he quickly put it to use with the Order of the Twin Adder.
Of course, something (or more likely quite a few things) about Yazi's upbringing and molding failed to teach him true depths of empathy toward others, and he was quick to see the "greater good" in experimenting new medicines and tonics on wounded Adders. After all, if the experiments went well, they would benefit the Order as a whole by a much larger scale than simply healing one or two of them here and there. That, as well as a general amusement over reactions to his policy against the use of painkillers eventually earned him a discharge from the Order.
Having nowhere else to go, he found a healers wanted flyer for a Hunting Company called the Wandering Tonberry in Gridania's airship landing. Figuring that was better than moping, he took the job! Since then he has learned quite a lot about dealing with others, and has managed to become a bit less... sociopathic. Yazi has made friends he cares about quite dearly. He has also since taken up the hobby of monster-cataloging, toting a massive blank book around to doodle monsters the Company hunts and scribble notes about their habitats, abilities and (after the slaying is done by his companions) alchemical/medicinal properties of their beastly bits and bobs.
Occasionally he will hunt less-dangerous monsters by himself to catalog, often bringing a non-Company companion along for safety by the name of F'oolani Ahka. She makes for a strong companion with her skills in arcanum, and though her personality is a bit spiny, Yazi seems to not mind. If not even enjoy it a little.
