Appearance & Personality

Mana Kami stands tall and always straight, rarely slouching even in relaxed company. The woman has long auburn hair that flows down past her shoulders, usually tied up into a rather messy and poorly done pony tail when she plans for conflict. She tends to always have dark purple eye shadow and lipstick on, the extent of the make-up she uses. The woman has two different colored eyes, her right eye being white, while her left eye is a dark green, due to the fact she is blind in her right eye. Her face seems clean of scars and injuries, a few small scars would be on the back of her neck, though.
The woman is well built, certainly fitting for the fact she is seen almost always in heavy armor. She is stronger then people seem to give her credit for, after all the woman is used to using her shield to stop incoming attacks. Underneath her armor though, her body seems to be heavily scarred. She has various scars of many sizes covering her torso and upper arms. Her legs aren't as badly scarred, but there are some larger ones on her thighs.
She seems to wear a few armors, her more notable one being her Free Paladin outfit, usually polished nicely to give her the 'Knight in Shining Armor' look, one she prides herself for, and usually calls herself that. She wears a silver crown on her head rather often, even when not in her armor. She was given this when she became a free paladin, it's been passed down from the paladin who taught her, and the ones who taught him. She plans to pass it down if she ever finds a willing apprentice to learn her selfless ways. She wears another outfit, a grayer outfit that seems more royal then she is. The girl hasn't worn this new outfit often, only recently acquiring it, she tends to prefer the paladin outfit she's been using for years.
Mana seems to have recently started using an eye patch to cover her right eye, though forgetful and forgets to use it, she is trying to adjust to it, finding it annoying when she gets dirt in an eye that can't even see.

Biography

Early Life Before Airship Crash

Mana Kami was born in Doma, being the eldest daughter of two. As per her family tradition, female or male, the oldest was to learn to use a sword, train to fight off anyone that threatened her, and her family. The girl was never too interested in this, her interests were usually learning to cook, read, write and explore, things she was limited on getting to do since she had to be a strong, trained fighter, practically a soldier. She was skilled at it, but it wasn't something she enjoyed, never wanting to be a fighter.
The woman had a sister, one who she wanted to spend as much time with as she could, but it was rather hard for the two to get to spend time together, as Mana was usually training or exercising. Eventually when Mana was in her late teenage years she grew used to the lifestyle she was forced into, a rather cold and quiet personality stuck with her for quite some time.

The Arrival to Eorzea

Years later when the girl was in her early twenties, for reasons unknown to her and her sister, the family planned to leave Doma, 'a new life' was all they would tell them. Mana knew there was more to it, but the woman wasn't to interested in bothering and asking, simply going along with it. As they departed in an airship and made their way to Eorzea, the girl and her sister were entertained in seeing the new lands, loving the view from the sky, though as they were in Thanalan, the airship started having issues. Not much longer, the large flying machine was giving out, the families on it panicking as nothing was seeming to change, the airship -was- crashing and they all knew it. Mana stuck close with her sister, keeping her arms around her tightly to do the best to protect her, hoping -just maybe- they both would survive the crash, bracing for impact.
As the ship came crashing down and the people aboard were scattered across the desert sand, many dead or injured, Mana looked all but alive. The woman's outfit was torn, bleeding quite badly from the shards of the airship that flew out from the crash. She was knocked unconscious, thankfully though the woman's sister managed to survive. Finding out that her parents weren't alive, she rushed to Mana's side, thankful that the girl was barely breathing. She'd try to start dragging her away, trying to find a settlement close by to save her, though had the painful feeling that it would be to late if she simply dragged her, it didn't help her sister was injured from the crash too. she was lucky though, a group of adventurers were passing by and saw the airship crash, they helped those they could who seemed to survive, putting Mana on one of their chocobos and quickly rode to Ul'dah.

Post Crash

Mana managed to get patched up and her bleeding halted, she survived the crash, but was unconcious for almost a moon. During this time she simply was kept away in a medical room alone, only tended to when the doctors needed to. Her sister told the doctors about her, and why they were here. After a few nights though, her sister vanished without a trace for reasons unknown. Kidnapped, simply wanted to leave Mana, or even murdered, Mana never knew, and still doesn't know. Once she woke the girl was in a terribly panicked state, she struggled to calm down, the woman couldn't remember anything. Who she was, why she was here, nothing. She was distressed, but eventually managed to calm down enough to be able to hold a conversation with. Shortly after she learned of her name, what happened, and about her sister.
The girl struggled with so much, having to re-learn how to live. It didn't take her long either to realize she was blind in one eye, confused terribly at this, the doctors assumed it as a birth-defect at first. The next day though, the girl realized her memory was terrible, she struggled to remember what happened the day before, she learned she had terrible brain damage, causing her amnesia, memory loss, and blindness in her right eye. The girl was heartbroken when she learned it was impossible to fix, she was stuck suffering like this always, a broken memory, and a broken girl.
She struggled to get by in life, but did her best. She wasn't going to give up, despite having to re-learn so much. A gladiator of sorts, this is what she assumed she was in her past life. She was strong like one, at least. The girl trained with a sword constantly, rarely stopping, wanting to be the best fighter with a sword there was. The travelling she did was a good excuse to go off the hints of what her sister looked like, she was going to find her, she damn well was certain of it. Though, as time went on, the woman struggled to remember her sister's name, her sister's looks, everything about her slowly faded, she was looking for someone she didn't even know how they looked like, or what their name was.
A few years after practicing with her sword, the woman was greeted by a travelling Free Paladin, a strong looking hyur with long black hair, a man that had Mana stricken with awe at his armor, how heroic he looked, she wanted to be like him. Thankfully for her, the man has saw her train rather often, and offered to teach her the ways of of a Free Paladin. She beamed with happiness. Despite training to be a strong sword user, she wasn't getting anywhere in life by helping people with simple tasks, this Paladin presented her with a strong new choice in life, the option to help others and protect Eorzea. They talked for hours, learning of eachother's lives, or Mana's forgotten one at least. He told her what it's like to be a Paladin, and the hardships they must endure, and how she was not allowed to be selfish with her own life, protecting another and making sure they live was always what she had to do, even if it costed her her life.
Hesitant at first, the woman agreed, and started to learn the path of a paladin, even learning basic conjury from the man and the help of others. She learned to use a shield with her sword, learning to live defensively and only strike when the time was right, always ready to block and deflect her opponents. Many years of practice later when the girl was in her late twenties, she was given her paladin outfit, and to go with it, her crown. While the woman struggled constantly throughout learning with her memory, she managed, writing small notes from time to time to help her remember the most important of things, even learning to sketch and draw faces! And with his crown, she swore an oath, one she made, and was she was going to live by. The woman was a Free Paladin, and she made sure to do exactly what he taught her, to protect others, fight for what she thought was right, and never to break her oath.

Present

A skilled combatant and a hero to many, Mana Kami continues living her life as a Free Paladin, something she's only gotten better at as the years went on. She has joined up with a Free Company called "Might And Magitek", and certainly hasn't regretted the decision. She'd been able to find work to get to help people easier, instead of constantly travelling and looking for people to help. The woman usually refuses gil, or if she's working with another, she'll tend to give them her half, not doing it for the gil, but to protect and save people. The girl also has a black journal, written inside it is her memories and life. She write with very small text, though rather neatly written. She can draw faces rather decently, at least enough so she recognizes who people are. The woman seems content with what she is doing in her life right now, along with the friends she's met.
She's done her best to not let her broken memory get the best of her, usually never thinking about the past, or the future too much. She reads most of her journal every other day, reminding herself of what she's supposed to know and how people look, as she'd forget otherwise. She keeps her journal hidden most of the time. The girl seems to be more interested in ever though about finding her sister, despite knowing nothing about her. She simply hopes she'll be recognized by her sister one day, and will get to know more about both of them. Her memory still seems terrible, if anything has gotten worst. She does her best with it though, and while it's nice to get to forget the worst things in life easily, she finds her memory issues a curse more then anything. The girl tells herself she's come to terms with her memory being broken for good and her brain damage irreparable, but in reality she still struggles to accept it, always asking healers to help, despite knowing their answer is no.
"I want to leave good memories with everyone I meet, ones that'll hopefully make them smile when they think back on them, as I will not remember..."
