Appearance

Mizuki Uguisu is of mixed heritage, being both Au Ra and Hyur, she has a blue-grey complexion. She has an athletic build, but her muscles are almost non-visible. She bears a mark that can be seen going across the top of her face, over her eyes. She keeps her hair long, and although preferring it down, she sometimes can be seen fashioning different styles of ponytails. She is usually outfitted in armor made of cloth or leather. Peach blossoms or moonlet earrings can be seen on her horns.

History

Born in Ishgard, Mizuki was raised by Floki and Cerie Uguisu. Floki Uguisu, her father, was a well respected Hyur. He was a scholar, having found his soul stone in the Wanderer's Palace while studying the history of Nym. Cerie Ugusiu, her Xaela mother, was a botanist who primarily focused on making medicine to treat residents of the Brume. The Brume was also their home, due to Ishgard's loathing of dragons, they were only permitted to stay due to Floki's outstanding reputation. As Mizuki grew of age, she would have spent many hours with her dad, continuing his obsession with the history of the fall of the Floating City . She'd also grow an attachment to Bella, her fathers fairy. She longed to find a soul stone herself, but knew how improbable that was. Mizuki's life would be a modest one. She would become known in the Brume, for she started aiding the residence there whenever she wasn't studying. She also would befriend Vesperia Aeturna, who would later become "Nightmare Rose." During the events of the Battle of Carteneau, her mother and father were killed while venturing in Coerthas. Floki being a well renowned scholar, clergies from The Saint Endalim Scholasticate felt the need to bring the troubling news to Mizuki. She would go to seek counsel with Archbishop Thordan VII, but would be denied by the guards to even gain entrance into the Pillars. The guards stated her mother was a plague to Ishgard, and that Mizuki's family would have been castaway long ago had it not been for her father. Bella, knowing Mizuki since she was an infant, felt the need to stay with her, granted the Au Ra carried Floki's soul stone. The fairy would also suggest they travel to Limsa Lominsa, for it was known to have a place there for scholars. Mizuki agreed, and they started their trek to the maritime city-state.

Mizuki would settle nicely in Limsa Lominsa, well if you asked her, that's what she'd say. Truth is, she had a lonely life there, never living in one spot. She rarely spoke, as she was involved in little interaction with fellow citizens. She secretly attended the arcanists guild to better understand her relationship with Bella. She would go on to continue her father's work to find the truth behind the fall of Nym. She also started a garden as a memorial for her mother. But her research was not enough to distract her from her brewing anger of Ishgard. Her burning hate would transform her entirely, going as far as to even wield an axe. Mizuki being Xaela, she had general knowledge of hunting and gathering, and would utilize those skills to help herself survive. Unfortunately because she was alone, it took her longer to master these techniques. Knowing she needed something more advanced, she started seeking out work, whether it be a simple hunting assignment or an assassination, it didn't matter. Soon she would be a capable warrior, and with Bella at her side, she would become even stronger. The fairy would help Mizuki surpass many obstacles she wouldn't have been able to overcome on her own, and gave the pair a sense of security.

Mizuki would eventually form the Nightingales, an organization that would focus on the downfall of Ishgard. The Nightingales trained extensively for 2 years before starting on their objective. The guild was known to have been in waiting until they felt capable of carrying out the many destructive tasks they had planned. The organization as a whole would become known, but the names of it's initiates would forever stay a secret. With the rising number of people interested in the group, Ishgard soon heard of the Nightingales and their plan to overtake the throne. No outsiders knew the true goal of the Nightingales, as they were also known to have had some part in the destruction of the empire. The shadowy concealment of her motives is how she would come to be dubbed, "Lady Nocturnal." All that was known is wherever they went, stories were left behind which would haunt people forever. Mizuki would soon fall deeply in love with Vesperia, who had joined her when she started the Nightingales. Vesperia's reason, as far as she said, was to watch over Mizuki, as Mizuki's parents had done for her. Vesperia, who would become a leader in her own right, would start to be referred to as "Nightmare Rose" for her ruthless behavior. Mizuki and Vesperia would adopt a little girl, seeing as it would be impossible to bear one themselves. Tali, as she would be named, only made the pair's affection for one another even stronger. But the "peacefulness" they knew was soon put to an end.

Ishgard started sending in teams to eradicate the Nightingales, though how they found out where their base of operations was is unknown. Though most attempts made by Ishgard were thwarted, the group knew it was a matter of time before they would be in danger. But they didn't know it would come as quickly as it did. The Nightingales were on their first big assassination run when the attack came, and they were severely outnumbered, ill-equipped to fight. But they had no choice, so fought they did. They fought through two waves of enemies before starting to fall, their training meaning little for the elezen numbers they were against. Mizuki was struck in the leg by a spear, bringing her to the ground. Vesperia, seeing her beloved in trouble, would come to rescue her, only to be stabbed in the side. She was then thrown off a cliff and into the crashing sea below, never to be seen again. The Ishgardian forces would also take Tali, stating if Mizuki wanted her girl to live, she'd stop her attacks on Ishgard immediately.

With Mizuki's dreams crushed, family destroyed, and the two people she loved taken away, she grew to hate the Ishgardians even more over time. The events that followed would all be rumors, with none ever knowing exactly what happened. She would be sighted somewhere in Ishgard from time to time, but that was presumably making sure her daughter was safe.

Personality

The events throughout her lifetime have turned Mizuki cold. She is intelligent, but cynical, tactical, yet ruthless. She is driven by the hate of the Ishgardians, feeling her actions justified by the cruel acts committed against her. She is considered blunt, and a realist. She feels little emotion outside disdain and anger, only those close to her see otherwise. When it comes to Ishgard, she can't help but be schadenfreude. When she has her mind set on something, she'll have a plan ready to help her carry out her goal, whether that be through manipulation or any other means necessary. Mizuki's mindset is one of excellence, but due to her clouded judgement, her expectations are usually out of reach, which leads to her being depressed and full of self-loathing. She is relatively antisocial, only opening up to those few she trusts.
