Mue'to Kihdu

Contents[edit]
Born as the second son to a single mother in the risky and poverty ridden lands of Thanalan, Mue'to was brought up on only the essentials in life. Unfortunately, stories from his elder brother were the only thing that kept the memory of his mother alive due to her sudden disappearance when Mue'to was far too young to even remember her face. Neither of them knew what truly happened to her when she set off to visit Ul'dah, however the reality of the situation was perhaps too grim for the young miqo'te brothers at the time.
As grim as it was, Mue'to was never educated on how wrong it may be to take from the dead. His brother encouraged him with a smile that those who have passed on buried their treasures with them so that they could one day be found. Mue'to wholeheartedly believed, and still to this day lives by those words. His actions, while morally wrong, lack any malicious intent in that he is just simply oblivious to the sensitivity of the matter.
It wasn't long before this backfired. Mue'to was oblivious to what his brother was actually involved in, and shortly after their first experience with the largest sum of gil either of them had ever seen, his brother was "disposed" of on his second cartel run as a means to keep information concealed. Mue'to, then thirteen at the time, was left completely on his own without ever knowing if his brother was alive or whether he would return or not. He stayed at camp for days living on what remained before he finally began to succumb to hunger and begin fending for himself. Since then, Mue'to still gets by with the only way he knew how. He occasionally brings his findings to Ul'dah to try and trade, but he doesn't so much do it for the earnings, and instead just because he enjoys the exploration and freedom, living each day admiring the idea of adventure in the same way a child would foolishly romanticize it. Whether or not Mue'to is brave, or just blissfully oblivious to the dangers that lurk, his naive curiosity could end up being his downfall if he isn't more careful.
Mue'to is that person you see but never actually know anything about. He's never made much of an effort to know other people, and he for the most part only interacts with those he absolutely needs to; like trying to find a trader for his found objects, or trying to string the right words together in order to ask for directions. He can be perceived as a bit naive at times, and his curiously will likely get him into a tough situation or two, but despite all this, he's very considerate of others around him even if he may not often involve himself with the company of other people. It's not that he doesn't like anyone or doesn't want to ever open up, it just never crosses his mind that people may have any interest in him.
♦ Though Mue'to and his elder brother never knew the reason behind their mother's missing, the truth of her disappearance had been due to her execution under the suspicion of meddling in black magic. She had never shown any signs of such practices around her young, and the amethyst stone pendant Mue'to carries with him as a keepsake being the only connection between her and the forbidden magic. Mue'to is of course oblivious to it's value or purpose and sees it as just a very pretty stone.
♦ Despite Mue'to not having the best of a living in terms of pay, he was brought up to never ever pick-pocket or steal from others. Ironic considering his backwards understanding of what grave-robbing is.
