Skills
Between his mother's scattered lessons and his later life on the streets of Limsa Lominsa, N'klas has a variety of skills and knowledge. Though with the exception of his summoning, there is nothing that he is notably good with. He might have been able to pick up more, but the Miqo'te was always undisciplined and with a short attention span. Most of what he knows, he's learned on his own through practical application.
Magic
His mother was an Arcanist and that is a path that N'klas is following in. He lacks a grimoire. However, he does have a red gemstone that he inherited from his mother. It's etched with symbols from her own grimoire (along with a few customizations of her own) that allows him to summon Carbuncle or, when his emotions are exceptionally strong, the gemstone may weave into his aether on its own and Carbuncle will emerge without his help. And that is where his magical abilities currently end. With no formal training beyond the random lessons from his mother long ago, N'klas is only adept at summoning Carbuncle. Without a grimoire and proper instruction, he can go no further than that.
This method of summoning, however, does come with a few downsides. The Carbuncle that emerges from N'klas' gem is less potent than one that other arcanists would summon by actively sketching out the symbols as a focus. Also, the gemstone must be clean, without any dirt or dust covering the symbols. If the symbols are in any way hidden, the spell will fail.
Other
N'klas is also something of a petty thief. He's a decent pick-pocket and can snatch something off of a stand without anybody noticing at times. Though he's not perfect, and often times, his lack of patience gets him into trouble as he moves too soon or too quickly to get away with it. But at the same time, he is quick on his feet, flexible, and agile, giving anybody a good chase.
