Given name: Nahue Tanner

His given name was given to him by his biological parents, his surname was given to him when he was adopted by Ivan Tanner. His first name doesn't follow typical Seekers naming conventions, due to the fact that when he was a child, he couldn't pronounce his name correctly. Nahue was the best approximation his father could come up with.

Abilities

• Alchemist - From a young age, his father took him out to gather herbs and reagents, learning the various types and their properties. As he grew, his father teached him how to transmogrify, brew, concoct and create wonderful things. It always fascinated him, and he found he had a knack for it. Nahue has spent many cycles developing and perfecting his talent, using much of his spare time to experiment.

• Machinist/Magitek Engineer - Another trade taught by Ivan as Nahue grew up. Nahue has always loved working on things, disassembling them, figuring out how things work, whether it is a simple pulley system, or a complex engine. His desire to learn more has always been difficult, with the taboo around magitek. He has had to learn many things in secret, often in his father's basement. Even with the risk of being caught, Nahue and his father have always enjoyed exploring the intricacies of magitek and machines in general.

• Blacksmith/Armorsmith/Goldsmith/Carpenter - Alongside his desire to work around magitek, within the past cycle, Nahue has taken a liking to the forge. He has spent day and night creating various pieces of armor and every weapon imaginable. He now sells his wares alongside his others at his workshop, often travelling to the Golden Bazaar to find new clients interested in his high quality creations.

• Nahue is dyslexic, and spent most of his life unable to read. Within the past few cycles, Nahue has learned to at least read the invoices he uses at his shop.
  
• Trusting of others, almost to a fault. He will confide in someone completely and utterly before getting to know them as well as he should. Because of this, he often gets his hopes up very easily for things, and it hits him much harder when things don't go as planned.

Clothes: Standard clothes for a mechanic. Usually just overalls, a pair of work boots, gloves, and goggles. Sometimes wears an Adder Longcoat, given to him by his father.

Voice: Soft, but warm. Easy on the ears. He will often shorten words in speech, combine words that normally aren't used together, and use slang.

Personality

Demeanor:

Nahue is a warm and friendly individual when with someone he knows. When he is around strangers or large groups of people he is very shy, rigid and introverted. He will keep to himself and stick to observing unless spoken to. He is a very curious person, often asking many questions and being nosy. Because of this, he may come off as annoying at times, but his intentions are always good.

Emotions:

He is almost always smiling, goofing off, and generally being happy. He carries an optimistic outlook on life. He tends to stay calm in most situations, rarely getting angry or upset. If he is, he usually keeps it to himself.

Intelligence:

He loves learning new things, very intellectual. He thinks before he speaks. Not very street-smart, but he is learning. As a dyslexic, he never bothered to learn how to read, as it was something that was difficult for him to do. As a result, everything he has learned has been from hands on experience or taught from his father. He loves to experiment on things and tinker with them to learn how the world works and behaves. Because of his learning disability, he has become very observant of the world around him, picking up on things that others usually wouldn't. He has used this to his advantage, learning vicariously through other people's experiences in fields that interest him.

History

Until the age of 3, Nahue lived with his tribe in Gyr Abania. His family had been travelling to do some trading with a nearby settlement. However, a mixup with supplies led to Nahue being given away in a shipping crate. The crate came into possession by a peculiar Hyur by the name of Ivan Tanner, a Midlander, who happened to be in the area, venturing between the tunnels under Gyr Abania and the Shroud to bring crucial supplies to the now Garlean occupied territory. The kind old man took him and brought him back to Gridania, where he raised him.

Ivan is a mechanic and an alchemist by trade, so naturally he apprenticed under him. He quickly developed a love for tools, machinery, gears and gadgets. Anytime his father brought something home, they would spend hours tinkering with it, learning how it works and how to make it work even better than before.

Prior to the Calamity, his father owned a little alchemist/mechanic shop in Gridania. Recently, Ivan retired, bequeathing the shop and it's contents to Nahue. He is currently living in Gridania with his mate, Manari Onai, where he runs the shop in the local marketplace.

Ivan took Nahue in when he was just a toddler, finding him all alone in the fields of La Noscea in the middle of the night. He has raised him as his own since then, teaching him everything he knows about machines and technology. Ivan loves his son dearly and couldn't be prouder. Nahue has never really had any desire to search for his birth parents. Ivan has been a fantastic father to him and Ivan is more than he could ever hope for. He considers himself extremely fortunate and proud to be called his son, race be damned.

A family friend ever since Nahue could remember, Gayle has always been there for him and his father. He delivers supplies and parts to Ivan's shop and helps Nahue out with his dead drops. Nahue considers him to be his uncle, and Gayle proudly wears the title.
