Nicolas Eagleheart
Nicolas Eagleheart is a Hyur male of Highlander blood currently residing in Ul'dah as a proud citizen. With a warm heart, inspired enthusiasm, and a curious nature, Nicolas has the heart of an adventurer and the mind of a scholar. Though he has little personal experience of the world outside the grand city-states Nicolas retains a wealth of knowledge due to spending countless hours with his nose stuck in a book. Recently however, he has joined the ranks of: "The Dauntless" with the hopes of exploring the world while aiding those in need.
Eighteen years before 'The Calamity' shook the world: Nicolas Eagleheart's parents met within the holy city-state of Ishgard. His mother: Susan Wyrmsbane, was a proud up and coming dragoon and his father, Dennis Swifthand was a clever blacksmith and engineer. Their love was forged in the fires of battle, for Susan often times came to him in order to repair her gear. Eventually Nicolas was conceived and the two lovers found themselves to be parents.
With the constant threat of the Dravanian Horde at their gates, Dennis was weary of raising a child in Ishgard. Susan meanwhile was fully intended to raise her son to be a Dragoon to fight alongside her. The fate of their son was a constant conflict between the two, a conflict which lead to Dennis doing something drastic. Fearing for the boy's future: He stole away with the young boy late one night and escaped Ishgard. He knew his love couldn't abandon her post to track them down, at least not right away, so he made his way to the deserts of Thanalan as quick as possible. There, he changed his own name and started a safer life with the boy. The boy was only left with a few memories of his mother, The image of the proud woman bearing a mighty lance remained forever burned into his mind.
As the years passed Nicolas and his father would live comfortably in the grand city of Ul'Dah. His father used his talents to open up his own shop, while he developed his fascination of books. Fiction, Non Fiction, Reference or even a few spell books, the young boy filled his mind with knowledge and his heart with stories of heroes, villains, and grand adventures. His fascination with these books and his devotion to them earned him the loving nickname of "Eagleheart" from his father, the name he'd later take as his surname.
When he reached his early teenage years Nicolas began to develop an interest in the study of magical science upon reading a few basic introductions of '"Arcane Geometries."' Upon discovering this and realizing that this might put Nicolas on good path, his father then sent him to Limsa Lominsa to join the '"Arcanists Guild"' to study under them. During his time there Nicolas made many friends, he really enjoyed being around like minded people. In his years of training his skill with magic and his knowledge of tactics grew making him a respectable scholar and tactician.
It wasn't till after '"The Calamity"' struck that Nicolas returned home. Feeling helpless and afraid during the event Nicolas, now a young man, returned home to Ul'Dah. While he didn't give up training as a Scholar the desire for more strength drove him to take up the lance. Be it by Halone's will or some influence from the blood ties to his mother, the young man showed a great natural talent with the lance becoming increasingly proficient with it.
He's had no real use for his skills till recently however, for the most part he was bettering himself for his own sake. Now that he's a proud member of 'The Dauntless' he has a purpose to wield his tome, his strategic mind, or his lance.
