Ranging from accurate to fabrication. Rumours are a dangerous source of knowledge.
◢ Common Rumors - The easily overheard.
"I know he comes from up North, but most of his kind do, I suppose. Saw him around Ul'Dah often enough in the day. Hm? No, not in the arena. He was professional intimidation for those that could afford him. Some sort of polish to him. Made him unique. Damned if I remember what it was, though. Nah. No idea when he left to come here. Certainly after Carteneau." - Overheard, slightly slurred, in the Drowning Wench
"Sharp tongue. Gilded in silver, too. Not too common on a Roegadyn, that. He'll put you on your heels if you don't have your eyes open. Definitely a charmer, but there's some fangs behind that smirk. He's got a bite." - Rhoswen, Captain of the Sanguine Sirens
"Saw him once, in the Wench, arguing with a fella bout the best feed for a chocobo. Damn near exploded on the man when he told him how he grew the peaches he fed 'em. Something about the wrong kind of sunlight. The big Roe is pretty passionate bout animals and food, apparently. Personally, fella that big? I'd just nod a lot and agree. Don't care how much he smiles, he's still the size of four of me, yeah?" - Passing conversation in the Quicksand
“He's got an education to him. We used to drink together in the Quicksand, back before he left Ul'Dah. He doesn't do it so you'd notice, not like he lords it over you, but he sprinkles poetry and philosophy in there sometimes. When it makes sense. Reads and writes better than most, too. Mentioned to me some scribe work one day. Stuck with me, on account of most in his line of work being more with the clenched fists than the books, savvy?” - Learned for the price of a drink in the markets of Ul'Dah

◢ Uncommon Rumors - These require some work, or some luck, to learn.
"Had quite the reputation in Ul'Dah. At least with some. 'Quietly well regarded by the right people' a friend told me. Bit of a trophy piece for those with ties to the Syndicate. Wasn't local, though. Even when the steady offers came from the city he wouldn't leave the Forgotten Springs except to take jobs that interested him. Lot of work to go through to hire a bodyguard, if you ask me. Hear he was worth it, though. You'd have to ask someone else for the specifics of why, mind. Never met the man personally. Know him on reputation alone." - Ul'Dah Merchant in the Exchange
"To see him now, all swagger and sarcasm, you'd never know he was military once. Aye. One of the first recruits Raubahn brought into the Flames, way I hear it. I don't know what made him walk away, but I can guess well enough. Same as you. The big bastard might be all charm and cunning these days, but I've known a lot of men who took life as their vocation. You never really give it up. Not completely. So he comes across damned friendly, but I go out of my way to keep him in that state of mind all the same. Gets a look in his eyes sometimes makes me extra careful to stay on his good side." - Limsan pirate, careful to keep his voice down on the docks
"You put ten people in a room and ask them to describe Stark, you gonna get ten different answers, mate. I've known people thought of him as some sort of criminal philosopher, a gentleman thief. Like out of the storybooks. Bollocks. Heard others call him a stone cold killer if the gil and the target be right. Again, bollocks. This talk of some kind of warrior priest gone to the shadows is just that. Bollocks. Complete rubbish. I don't know what Tempest was before Limsa, but I'm damned sure of what he is now. An opportunist. Same as any been around as long as him without getting themselves dead or imprisoned." - Former Wood Wailer in the alleys of Limsa
“Has a lot of affection for Merlwyb, that one. Something about the importance of personal freedom. I don't know. Overheard him talking about it once. In the Wench. Called himself a... gods, what was it now. Ah, right. A 'highly self-motivated pragmatist.' Then he laughed. Like it was a real clever joke. I ain't seen what was so funny about it. Seems to be big on avoiding ties, though. Not a lot of men in Limsa live as long as him without ties to a specific crew, but he seems to stick with a group exactly long enough to finish a job before he moves on. You ask me, the only thing that man is loyal to is himself. Though I'd prefer it you didn't tell him I said so, yeah?” - Suddenly not-so-brave patron of the Wench
"He don't scare, that one. Once, down on the docks, I saw him get into it with three swabs that had come to collect from a man he worked for. Not quite sure what they aimed to take, but he had two blades and a pistol leveled on him, but all he did was smirk and keep on talking until they thought better of the situation. Me and my mate had a running bet on the why of it for a spell. Abandoned it when we realized neither of us were about to go up and ask him proper. We're curious, not suicidal. And I imagine even his friendly demeanor got limits. My friend thinks he's just a big son of a bitch who's confident to the point of stupid. Me, I think a man with confidence is one thing, but what he is? That's something else entirely. That kind of ice in the veins I've seen before. And it don't come from men who think they ain't gonna die. It comes from them that are damned sure they will." - Retired pirate on the bluffs

◢ Rare Rumors - Information that is incredibly difficult to obtain. Please ask before using.
"Did some digging for a former employer of his, back in the Sands. Old man wanted to hire him to guard his daughter during some negotiations, needed to be sure of who he was handing over his gil to. Man doesn't leave a huge footprint, but I know he was around during the battle of Silvertear Skies and that afterwards he took to the Forgotten Springs for a spell. Locals told me stories of him like he was some sort of monk wandered off from his monastery. Trained a lot with the local tribes, talked about Rhalghr and Althyk with equal reverence. Wound up an enlisted man in Carteneau when Raubahn came knocking. Ran a small platoon of his own. Not sure what came of it, but has a nasty habit of being on the losing side of a fight, it seems. Likes long odds. A lot of moral flexibility in him, but he tends to latch on to a cause from time to time. Very big on professionalism. Bloody dangerous creature, that one. When motivated. Recommended he hire the bloke, but not to quibble on the price after the fact." - Lalafell Investigator
“What's he do in Limsa? Mostly he seems to specialize in making problems disappear, way I hear it. People or things that need to be found or lost he makes sure it happens. I know he used to be a Guardian when he was in Ul'Dah, but he's branched out substantially since he left. I've hired him for a few jobs, and he is not shy in getting his hands dirty. Still takes plenty of work watching out for those that can afford it, mind. Usually very visible clients, at that. He's quite good at being seen when he wants to be. I know a lot of people who skulk in the shadows of this city to avoid people finding out what they are. He might be the first one I've seen walk around announcing himself and accomplishing the same godsdamned thing.” - Limsan Fixer

OOC INFORMATION

Personal RP Limits
I will play Mature content of all sorts so long as it fits within a narrative structure that makes sense. Character driven anything is pretty much a go.
Ask about long-term and/or permanent injury and disfigurement. Long-term captivity or imprisonment.
I won't play permanent character death unless discussed prior.
Disclaimer
Male player. If an aspect of RP makes you uncomfortable in a scene we're playing, please send me a /tell letting me know. Communication is very important, more important than potentially keeping immersion.
