Basic Info

Otgiva Cordwyk; Wanted by the Garlean Empire for the crimes of Treason, Desertion, Breaking Out of Prison, etc. Repeatedly captured and escaping from Garlean prisons in various regions under control by the empire, the latest reports suggest she has fled into Eorzea with various pieces of magitech, and most likely plotting to continue her rebellion against Garlean Rule.

History

Otgiva was born under Garlean rule, her country long subjugated by the empire in it's conquest of Ilsabard. Her parents were civilians, basic craftsmen who sold and repaired goods for the military forces that came through their settlement. Far from well-off, Otgiva's parents resented their conquerers, and their hated for Garlemald extended to their child. However, unlike her parents who silently held their grudge, Otgiva was quite vocal in her disdain of the Garleans. Seen as a possible threat, and fearful the girl would raise a resistance force, she was forced into the military, with the hopes she would fall on the front lines and cause no more trouble.

Within the Garlean military, Otgiva received various forms of training and conditioning to keep her in line. Silently bearing her grudge still, she learned what she could from her instructors and the other soldiers she was stationed with. Favoring her bare hands or small knives for combat, she was often sent as a scout on missions, an event that made her inevitable desertion all the easier. Casting her armor aside, she fled into the wilds of Eorzea, fleeing into Thanalan with a few pieces of Magitech weaponry that allowed her to avoid or otherwise hold back her pursuers.

Stumbling through the deserts, Otgiva hid among a few refugee camps from those who had fled Ala Mhigo in the wake of the Garlean occupation and Calamity. Among their numbers, she began to chat with those who plotted against Garlemald and stood proud as resistance fighters. Traveling with a small group, she studied their traditional combat styles and slowly worked them into her own as they ambushed and fought against Garlean patrols and supply lines.

After years of travel so far from her own home however, Otgiva began to lose motivation to continue fighting the Garleans. As the refugees she was traveling with passed Ul'dah one day, she said her goodbyes and wished them luck, entering the city and settling in at the Adventurer's Guild. Since that day, she has made use of her combat skills, practicing them in the field to protect herself and others from the varying, numerous dangers of Eorzea.

Personality

Former

Garlemald

Otgiva was forced into the Garlean Military as it became clear she would cause more trouble if left in her homeland, attempting to raise a resistance or revolution. During her duty she absorbed a few various fighting styles into her own combat repertoire, ranging from the use of magitech firearms to more stealthy use of daggers. Of course she never intended to stay silent, and at every chance available Otgiva would sabotage and attempt escape. After her numerous successes at escaping, she has now been declared a fugitive.

Ala Mhigan Resistance

After her escape attempt, Otgiva found herself allied with part of the Ala Mhigan Resistance. Striking at the Garlean trade routes, she helped them in their struggles to survive and plan to take back their home. However, after a few months of following the refugees through Thanalan, Otgiva began to grow distant from the group. Having been an outsider the entire time she was never particularly close or dedicated to their cause, and eventually she parted ways with them outside Ul'dah.

Current

Adventurer's Guild

Settling in Eorzea, Otgiva now wanders the realm as an Adventurer. Taking up quests for the City-States, she lends her skills wherever they're needed, while striking back at any Garlean forces that come after her.

Skills

Combat

Knives

Otgiva has used small knives as a weapon since her initial protests in her homeland. Under Garlean training, she adopted some of the skills of the Eastern nations. Since coming to Eorzea, her skills have not diminished, but as she is unaware of any Eorzean combat styles using knives, she avoids public use so as not to stand out or cause people to worry.

Unarmed

After her knives were initially confiscated by military forces, Otgiva turned to punches and kicks to resist the soldiers. Within the military itself, she learned some simple grappling and striking techniques to use on missions if she encountered hostile forces. But she learned the most about hand to hand combat from the Ala Mhigan refugees she traveled with, learning the bare basics of fist fighting that she has continued expanding on as she traveled Eorzea as an adventurer.

Marksmanship

Within the Garlean military Otgiva recieved minimal training in the use of magitech firearms. She was a horrid shot, with very poor accuracy. Since arriving in Eorzea her aim has only gotten worse, but she has favored close combat over ranged anyway.

Crafting

Goldsmith

Otgiva's parents were craftsmen and she has inherited their precision and skill in making fine detailed works despite her rougher appearance and demeanor. Taking an interest in goldsmithing, she joined the guild within Ul'dah and works there creating basic jewelry when her travels as an adventurer bring her back to the city.

Tinkering

Otgiva has always had an interest in the basic workings of magitech and other mechanical items. Every now and then when her travels lets her get her hands on machinery she will spend a few hours examining and taking it apart, then attempting to reassemble it, usually meeting with failure.
