Character

Tinyqhora.jpg

After going through an extremely rough patch that resulted in difficulty coping with much of her surroundings, Qhora has finally found a safe haven that allows her to come and go as she pleases. She happily works as a finder of things, something like a private investigator, but specializing in object retrieval.

General

  • Nicknames/Aliases: Q
  • Age: 23
  • Date of Birth: 13th Sun 1st Astral Moon
  • Sexuality: It's complicated
  • Marital Status: Unavailable
  • Religion: Unconcerned Individualist (Favors Halone)
  • Alignment: Neutral Good (guided by conscience, not by law)

Appearance

  • Height: 5'1" On the short side of miqo, but not tiny.
  • Body: Dark skin, nearly black. Wiry, all angles.
  • Face: Oddly round relative to her stringy body with pinchable cheeks she doesn't much care for. She has an old scar across her right eye.
  • Eyes: Blue.
  • Hair: Black. Currently wearing it long, but in braids.
  • Clothing: She likes to wear black and deep blue, preferring leather, but she's far from fashion conscious, wearing whatever's practical. She also has a taste for the Limsan rogues' uniform.

Behavior

  • Demeanor: Cheerful, but often quiet, preferring to observe her surroundings before speaking up. Intensely curious to the point of risk taking, but not so that it shows.
  • Quirks: She hates hot tubs so much it's a thing for her. Her curiosity can lead to her doing stupid things. Her personality on the surface seems shiftable, slipping between childlike, and all business, and quiet and serious depending on the situation.
  • Intelligence: She's extremely intelligent and loves learning. She's taken lessons from a wide variety of trainers on an immense variety of subjects, but she keeps that intelligence to herself and often outright hides it.

Combat

  • Style: Qhora takes most of her combat cues from Limsa Lominsa's rogues with whom she worked for a time, with some throwbacks to Shroud archery training from her youth.
  • Strengths: She's fast and tough. She can take a smack and get up and keep fighting, with a tenacity belied by her relatively small frame.
  • Weaknesses: She has a sort of endurance, but she doesn't have outright strength. If she can't get mobile in order to get in a lot of fast hits in specific weak points, she's in a difficult situation.

Relationships

Family

Her family story is complicated, full of love and hate, joy and pain, often in the same sentence when she recounts events from her past. While she's open enough about her history, none of her immediate relatives have survived, so anything she says is impossible to prove. Anyone researching her by name would find a story completely different from the one she tells in person.

Other Characters

( = Trusted, = Positive, ● = Neutral, = Negative, ≈ = Complicated )

Sindl Arahn ( ≈ )

Qhora clings to Sindl like she's drowning and he's a life preserver at the center of a landless sea, like he's the only thing keeping her alive. What exactly is going on between them is difficult to determine as both avoid the subject and neither are above lying about it, but the fact that there's something is hard to miss. She sees past his friendly exterior to something harder at his core that she relies on and needs to be around.

Renee Becquerel ( )

Qhora relied heavily on Renee's hospitality. She found the woman's strength inspirational and supportive but refused to question her eccentricities. This is perhaps the only instance in which Qhora willfully keeps her curiosity in check. Qhora would rather trust Renee without knowing her than delve into the strange details of her background.

M'sato Tia ( ● )

One of the few people she's met that hasn't immediately earned her hatred, she initially respected M'sato's sharp, vicious wit and angry attitude. The more she learned about him, the more that fell apart. The result is a difficult balance between admiration of the venomous exterior he's often shown in front of her and outright hatred of what she sees to be his soft, weak core that comes forward in quieter moments. In that sense, she sees him as Sindl's opposite.

Kai'ir Bajihri ( )

Qhora wants to not hate Kai'ir, and tries to cheer him on when he's attempting to extricate himself from lady problems, but she finds the way he constantly gets into lady problems so weak and pathetic that she wishes he'd just jump off a bridge so he'd at least have a problem that didn't involve ladies for once. No, they're not related.

Rumors

  • Didn't she used to camp out on the Grindstone rock way back when Sindl was running the show? - Enthusiastic Hyur Fighter
  • I swear she only smiles when something horrible happens to someone else. - Unpleasant Seeker

Rare Rumors

(Difficult or rarely overheard)

  • I remember a girl with that name from years ago. Didn't she have red hair and pale skin? Must be someone else. - Curious Lalafell Merchant
  • She looks really familiar. I swear I saw her around before. Is she Coeurlclaw? Those mooncats all look the same after a while. - Suspicious Wood Wailer

History

Newqhoralibrary.jpg

After the Calamity

Like many if not most, Qhora lost family and friends in the Calamity. That much is clear, but little else is. Stories float around about her being a member of the Coeurlclaw, an Ul'dahn street urchin, and a Lominsan rogue, often at the same time, which is highly unlikely. In person, Qhora's story is much more consistent, generally involving none of the above identities, except maybe a touch of the rogue.

Grim Echo

How Qhora came into contact with Sindl Arahn is unclear, but it was obvious from early on that he was the only reason she had anything to do with the Grim Echo company. She frequently expressed confusion and discontent at the way the group seemed to actively hinder what were supposedly its own goals. When Sindl stepped back from the Company for a time, Qhora also disappeared.

When Sindl returned to the Grim Echo, Qhora did not. She keeps in contact with Sindl, but seems to have otherwise severed ties with the group.

The Coral Sea

After roaming alone for a time, making sporadic attempts at gaining friends, she began scrutinizing the members of each company she looked at, and settled at last with The Coral Sea. They promised and (to Qhora's surprise) delivered safe haven. Over time she relaxed and let her close cut hair grow long, something she hadn't done since she was a child. Though she mostly keeps to herself, Qhora is currently happy where she is.

RP Hooks

What does your character do?

She does some straight-up rogue-style mercenary work, hunting monsters, dragons, bandits and the like, whatever the various Companies might have a use for. However, the bulk of her time and passion seem to be spent tracking down lost items. Part private investigator, part cat burglar, part archaeologist, Qhora's found herself very useful to people who had to leave their homes in a hurry after the Calamity and lost track of various precious items, valuable and sentimental alike.

What does your character want?

Qhora's main driving force is curiosity. This makes her easy to slip in to almost any story. She'll often make less-than-great decisions in the name of finding out something new or what happens next.

What does your character avoid?

Anything connected with violence from her past, including her family. The secrets she keeps, while she's occasionally free and open with them, aren't something she wants to be pushed about. Also, sex as a proposition or activity (less so a mere topic of discussion) will send her running, as will any unwelcome physical touch.

What do you want to build on?

The basics of adventuring and making friends. Because she's been hurt in the past, she's often quiet and reluctant, despite a genuine curiosity about new people she meets.
