Randis Rembrandt
Basic Info
Randis Rembrandt is a Hyur Midlander born on the third sun of the First Umbral Moon (February 3). She was raised on a chocobo ranch somewhere near Western Thanalan, in a very conservative but close knit and loving settlement. The youngest of six children in a sheltered family, she is still extremely naive and sees all of Eorzea with rose-colored optimistic eyes. She believes that good will always triumph over evil, that nice people who perservere will succeed eventually, and that a pure heart is the greatest weapon one can weild against the darkness in the world.

Biography
Randis was born and raised on a chocobo ranch in Western Thanalan, the youngest of six children and the only daughter. As the youngest sister of five extremely boistrous yet protective brothers, she learned all the minutiae of how to handle yourself in a fight and how to stand up for yourself while also being guarded from ever needing any of those skills by her muscular siblings. Two of her brothers journeyed to Ul'Dah and became Gladiators of some mild renown, and returned to the ranch at times to teach an eager young Randis how to weild a sword and shield. She also got a steady diet of stories from her brothers, father, and fellow townsfolk of various legendary heroes of Eorzea, including the Warriors of Light. As Randis grew older, her desire to follow in their footsteps grew also, which fueled her constant practicing her combat skills in between work on the ranch.
Those skills would be put to the test when she was 17, as one morning she went out to feed the ranch's chocobos and was surprised to find on the outskirts of the ranch a Roegadyn Paladin fighting four very large, angry piestes. Disregarding any thoughts of her safety, she ran over to see what she could do to help the swordsman out, not really considering that a bucket full of gyshal greens would be a particularly good weapon against a giant hungry monster. On the other hand, she was able to throw the bucket with pinpoint accuracy and crushing speed, braining one of the piestes and knocking it dead. In a move that he would later regret, the Paladin took his eye off the battle to see where exactly the projectile had come from, and another of the monsters took the opportunity to strike a near-mortal blow on him. The three remaining creatures turned their attention to the young, overeager ranch girl, intending her as her next target regardless of how well she could toss a bucket.
Running to the fallen Paladin's side, she was able to not only grab his sword and shield, but heft his considerable weight onto her shoulders to run to some nearby rocks. Letting her weight down out of sight of the creatures, she then walked out, with in hand a sword and shield far too big for her and that she only had an amateur's idea of how to use. Noone but Randis really knows what happened next, and she's usually underplays or grossly exaggerates what she did in the fight depending on the audience. All that is certain is that soon the other three piestes were dead, and that Randis was able to get the Paladin to safety to allow his wounds to heal.
The Paladin, Ser Moensyn, was rather well impressed with the Midlander's apparent prowess, courage, and idealistic determination. He recommended she be trained by the Sultansworn, first as a Gladiator and later as a Free Paladin under his tutelage. The trials for Randis were many and difficult on the way to wearing the white armor, including a week-long stalemate with a group of irate goblins, and coming face to face with the fearsome Primal of the Amal'jaa, Ifrit. During this latter battle Randis discovered she had access to the mysterious power known as the Echo, which protected her from the "Tempering" ability of the Lord of the Inferno.
Finally, Randis was recognized as a Paladin, and today fights to protect all of Eorzea from harm with her white armor and her sword and shield. She tries to stand for justice, freedom, and hope, but whether she does is an excercise best left to the observer.
