Character

Personality

The calamity left it's mark on this one. Once a sarcastic, playful adventurer, the experience of watching everything fall around her without any decent or fair judgement, then followed by being forced into the vast emptiness that is the void, has cause some deep seeded issues within her. She once loved every concept of duality, loved the idea of balance; using that to somewhat define who she was. For every good, a bad. For every smile, a frown. But now, she has become more of an empty shell, her voice dimmed and her care drained. Politics? Not worth the effort. Let those who wish to play controller play. Let them believe they hold the ideal that they can alter and control people. Stern, blunt, and sometimes unjustly harsh, she makes commentary on all she sees. Though, from time to time, who she once was smiles through. However, all of this does not mean she is quite the unapproachable individual, she acts as one would expect a woman in charge of an business would act. Polite, willing to listen, and offering advice are only a few of her more redeeming traits.

Recently, events have caused her to relax in a way, allowing more of her old self back in, and her old personality showing through it all, though in an arguably much more chaotic form. She is able to switch in and out of her old self, and the empty self that came out of the void, and as such, she has been trying to find a balance between the two, and when she needs to revert to her emptier more logical self, she empties herself of aether.

And then it all fell apart once again...

Appearance

Being from Ul'dah, the sun has touched the flesh of her and her ancestors more than those who have stayed in the wooded areas, leaving her skin several shades darker than most of her kin. She is also a bit shorter in comparison to other elezen, yet her height still overwhelms a large number of the other races. Like many else in this world of ours, she has heterochoromitic eyes, one a shade of green, the other blue. However, She was not born this way, an accident caused damage to her aether eye, the blue nothing more than shades of aether that resides with in. When there is no aether, this eye glows a ghostly white. Upon her head is short, styled hair; colored with darkness of midnight sky, yet touched with the colors of noon sun. She keeps the varying shades intertwined with the other, using pins and claps to mold it into the bizarre shape.

Wearing more traditional robes for a mage, her garments are typically long and flowing, and cover much, if not all, of her skin. They are typically dark in color, like many others, with potions, materials, and tools latched all around. She used to do her best to keep her face covered and hidden from the world, be it from a taller coat collar, a mask, or both, however, due to her personality shifting, and the aether once again residing with her, she has been showing it off. She does have an interest in jewelry, and as such, is usually covered in baubles; be it self made, or those she has found.

History

Early Life

Born to that of an average family, the elezen traditions were not passed too harshly onto her. She grew up a curious child, listening and learning from the world around her. Her family was well off, though not enough coin to voice much opinion within the Ul'dah society. BUt it was as well as they needed to be to provide a good beginning; from her mother, a bard, who played her music and entertained many patrons, to her father, a hard working, honest goldsmith, making coin through skill and love of his work. From time to time when Ravusa did her chores swift, and her duties completed well, her mother would take her to her work, let her listen to her songs, and help adjust the elezen to a life around Ul'dah, and how temporary meetings and unions can be. A lesson the woman felt her daughter would need in order to keep happy, and overall...sane.

From an early age she seemed to have a talent with aetherial manipulation, doing minor tricks, and showing off to those unable, trying to show how she does it, though failing each time as she did not have such knowledge. Despite the fact that she did show the skill in her mother and fathers work, they felt it would be best to have this magic talent bloom, the diverse ways of the thaumaturge at that time can both protect her form danger, and help her heal the wounds of others. Something the two thought could earn their child respect in later life. And so, she was placed into the thaumaturge guild; the young woman slowly being turned to a Priest of Nald'Thal.

Ravusa began to love diversity of it all, having the talents to work alongside her father when he needed assistance, to studying and excelling as a thaumaturge, to spending the evenings with her mother at the bar, listening to stories from adventurers. Every moment was precious, a moment to learn, a moment to enjoy. She became quite the social butterfly, speaking to anyone she could just to hear what knowledge, what experiences they had.

However, years past, and she watched many come and go. It did not take too long to note that some would fail to return the same from their journeys, if they were able to return at all. The harsh toll of the world's nature breaking many a strong soul. It was now that her mother's lesson finally became more than a lesson. If you do well, and live long, you may watch love and life of others die and past on. Of all the things we can do with our limited time, each person who spoke to you, stood by you, spent time with you...they picked you to give one of these few moments to you. This mentality, this philosophy, latched itself onto the young elezen. And it defined her younger years.

Before the Calamity

Like so many of Erozea's people, Ravusa thought to put her skills to good use, and became an adventurer. From job to job, she was given much opportunity to practice her traditional thaumaturgy. The astral, the umbral, and the blood magics became large part of her life, her focus, her mastery. She started making the Quicksand in Ul'dah her usual hang out, spending time getting to know those in it, as well as enjoying time with her co-workers when she was assigned to work with a team. Job after job, certain faces started becoming more and more common, and soon, she found herself a part of an efficient and dedicated adventuring party, taking on task as a full team. A roegadyn lad with a knack for conjury, a midlander woman who knew her way around a sword, and a highlander marauder, along with Ravusa using her thaumaturgy, proved to be quite the efficient team.

As time went by, others came and went, but the core four were always close, and quite bonded together. Even with the change in magics deemed acceptable, they allowed Ravusa to continue with her old thaumaturgy, though much of it was now disallowed. The elezen found herself at home with her companions, and even though she kept studying the old ways, learned some of the new form in order to prevent any complication that could arise, in an attempt to protect her team.
