Character Description

Body

Having been brought up as a lancer in Ishgard and with his former occupational work with The Maelstrom, R'avyne has kept a rather athletic and defined body. More than anything he has extremely strong and muscular arms. While not bulky muscles by any means, they are visible, and well defined within his athletic frame.

His legs could be seen as longer than average, adding a slender appearance to him. They are of course quite sturdy as well, given his former occupation.

He maintains a fair skin tone. He is not pale but he does not have an abundance of tanning despite the many hours he spends in the sun while fishing.

The majority of his body is free of scars save for a few burn marks on his right hand and parts of the right side of his abdomen, given to him by a dragon.

Facial

Ravyne has short-medium length light brown hair with hints of gold , with bangs falling just past his eyes, which are disparately colored Green and Gold. A youthful and clean face, R'avyne cannot grow facial hair of any type. The only markings on his face come in the form of a blue Dragon tattoo that wraps around his left eye, and covers a small portion of his forehead.

Attire

Fishing

R'avyne spends most of his free and casual time in very simple clothing. He has a very loose, white, long-sleeve shirt with a v-neck. The end of the shirt is covered by some light weight leather gloves with exposed fingers. A simple sash wraps around his shirt, keeping it tucked in around the waist.

R'avyne also wears loose white pants that tuck in to near knee-high brown leather boots. The boots have a fold at the top. To finish his simple attire off, he can usually be seen with a short but very round hat, either worn on his head or hanging behind his back

Fighting

While R'avyne prefers not to fight, he still often finds the need to do so; mainly when around Siobhain. He carries his Dragoon armor around when he is traveling so that he can protect himself and those he travels with.

His Dragoon armor is primarily blue, with areas of black. He has a unique blue and black Dragon Helm with a somewhat scaley look to it. The sides fan out like the wings of a dragon.

The rest of his armor has a smoother feeling to it, and not scale like pattern, unlike his helm. He has a smooth metal chest piece with attached, rounded, shoulder guards. The arms, grieves, and boots are each separate, and provide relative comfort at the joints.

Background History

Early Years

R'avyne was born and raised in Ishgard, 23 years before Dalamud fell from the sky and Bahamut escaped. Like many from Ishgard, he was brought up to be a dragoon in service to the city, protecting it from the dragons. He started training at the early age of 7 with lances and combat techniques using them. His father, V'aalen, was a retired soldier and it was his dream to see R'avyne follow the same path as he had. It was a matter of pride. R'avyne did not need much convincing though, as he was excited to train with the hopes of becoming a full-fledged Dragoon. Combat training was not all he did growing up though. He also kept up with fairly simple and common intellectual studies.

In his early teens, R'vyne befriended a young Hyur boy named Dalte, who was about the same age as he, and together they each strove to become great Dragoons. They became best friends, like brothers really, as the years went by and they enlisted in to the service of Ishgard together at the age of 18. Of the two of them, Dalte was the more skilled and usually defeated R'avyne in their training skirmishes.

Young Adult

During an attack on Ishgard, Dalte and R'avyne had attempted to take on a rather large dragon without much aide, in attempts to earn some respect and honor. The two could not handle it nearly as much as they had thought and in an effort to save a wounded Dalte’s life, R'avyne distracted the dragon but took a direct hit from the beasts fire breath. He received burn wounds on his right arm, hand, and torso, due to overheated armor. The two of them also received words from their higher ups.

When R'avyne reached the age of 20 he and Dalte left Ishgard to help the other city states with other matters. They had heard rumor that the Garlean Empire was becoming increasingly active of late and there was a chance that they were preparing for another invasion. The two Dragoons, along with a handful of others, left to aide the city states. In a youthful adventuring spirit, and a love for fish, R'avyne wanted to go to Limsa Lominsa. They ultimately set sail to Limsa Lominsa, arriving about a month after their departure from Ishgarde. Each of them joined the Maelstrom, offering their service to the navy.

Dalamud and After

At age 23, Dalte and a very large portion of the Maelstrom joined the other Grand Companies at the Battle of Carteneau. R'avyne was not among them however. He was left behind to help defend a very empty Limsa Lominsa from potential threats. R'avyne witnessed Dalamud's decent, as did a great many people of Eorzea. He had heard within days of Bahamut's release and the destruction the dragon primal had caused.

A month passed by and it had become apparent that this best friend, Dalte, was likely a victim of the battle or Bahamut's initial onslaught. R'avyne was hurt very deeply by the loss of his 'brother'. Because of that, he had left the Navy and decided that battle was a cruel thing, and was something people should strive to avoid. Instead of feelings of revenge, he harbored feelings of pacifism and guilt. For a month he struggled with life as he sought to become a fisherman. Earning gil was difficult and he had to learn his trade quickly in order to sustain himself. He eventually found himself working with a few other locals, fishing and selling fish. This provided him with enough gil to buy a small residence where he would live alone, and live as peaceful a life as he could in the ocean of chaos that everyone seemed to be entranced with since The Dalamud Incident.

Not long after he got settled in to his new life style, R'avyne met Siobhain, a Traveling Roegadyn and Paladin. Through odd circumstances the two became friendly with each other over the course of a few months, then mildly attracted to each other over the next few years. It was only after these years of getting to know each other that their attraction turned in to romantic feelings.

Personality

In his youth Ravyne was very sure of himself and very eager to please. Impatient, healthily disobedient, and cunning, he was a typical young man trying to impress others.

Upon the death of his friend Dalte, his entire outlook on life quickly changed, and he with it. Instead of the old rash and impatient boy, eager to fight and eager to please, he became calm, collected, and somewhat withdrawn. He placed a large measure of blame for Dalte’s death on himself, which is manifested in the form of Ravyne forgoing fighting whenever possible and only using it when absolutely needed. His stance on fighting carries over in to those around him as well, as Ravyne takes it upon himself to dissuade others, especially the young, from wanting to take up arms.

He is peaceful, and relaxed, but looking at him would give away to most that he carries a scar of some sort.
