Background (work in progress)

Early Life And Tribe

Reiko grew up in a small isolated clan, which did not stay in one place for very long. For the most part the tribe remained in the wilderness away from urban life. What the tribe could not gather or hunt for, they traded for. They traded with largely farmers, small villages in the area and travelers.

The Goddess Menphina was one of the main gods/goddesses the tribe looked to, because of this they welcomed most travelers as long as they did not overstay their welcome. The tribe is due to the influence of Menphina's ideals is open the way people wish to live and the choices they make. This combination of welcoming others and being accepting grew into healing others being linked to offering those healed the love of Menphina. Healers and priestesses were one in they same, Reiko would become one of which at an early age. The tribes method of healing is largely non-magical

Early Studies

It was the pursuit of self study of healing magic that brought the interest of learning academics to Reiko. Trading with passers-by she was able to get her hands on books about magic, creatures, cities and legends. The book on arcane magic she was able to get her hands on was old and falling a part, some pages falling out of it. She liked the book as it seemed hand made from the stones, gems and art work on the cover and binding.

It was not long till she began staring to do her own research on the areas around her tribe. She learned not only which plants were useful and which were harm, but more importantly why they were this way. Her study of creatures allowed her tribe to hunt them more easily. She delved into alchemy which she found benefited from her understanding of nature.

She focused most of her magical studies on being able to protect and heal others. The more offensive aspects of arcane magic she learned only when required even if what she learned she found useful in hunting.

Some of her self study was met with criticism from those around her who believed she was spending far too much time with it. Her brother would often tease her that she had to be careful or her trying to heal them could cause the area she was trying to heal to explode.

Departure From Tribe

While her studied started as some for the good of the tribe, it changed into a larger desire to help more than just the small tribe she was a part of. Her research became something important to her and she still felt that she could not learn as much as she wanted roaming place to place. As she learned more about the problems that plagued the world around her she felt her tribes isolation was in conflict with the teachings of Menphina. She saw that people were coming on hard times, worries about people invading from outside lands and creatures causing havok. It was her belief that hiding away from these problems did not make it any better than being near them and ignoring them. It was for all these reasons that she departed and moved to the more populated areas seeking to expand her knowledge and help those she encountered.
