Basic Info

Rhynka is a Miqo'te moving away from the wilds of Eorzea to gain a better understanding of city life and culture along with a small band of kin. Their nomadic band of outcasts consists of 8, 9 with the recent addition of an antsy young Tia name U'zhan. Hoping to find a harmonic existence between their own loosened traditions and that of the city states, Rhynka wishes to find prosperity along side the urbanized citizens of Eorzea regardless of race, clan or gender.

Personality

Although Rhynka is open minded she is quite set in the ways of her upbringing. Though she left the traditions of old she still honors them as she can. "Tradition is to be honored for yourself, and never the deciding factor of ones destiny." Is a common explanation of her views when dealing with her own cultural barriers. She is very aware that adaptation will be necessary if she is to guide her kin from scrambling in the wilds to instead live symbiotically with the city states and their methods of law and tradition. Having the position of leader more forced than accepted by her, Rhynka often takes frequent trips into town when supplies are needed and the fat of the land is not enough to instantly provide. With this burden of flimsy leadership Rhynka usually finds herself playing the bridge between two worlds she hopes to unite for the sake of the caravan's future and her own personal sanity.

Rhynka has sticky fingers, though not greedy she brings the law of "All is fair!" from the wilds to the city as often as she needs. Rhynka and her caravan could see more value in a shipment of food than luxurious goods as a target. The Seeker also finds the act to be sporty so long as no one is harmed.

Cultural Perceptions

Since the culture clash and shock of being a tribal Miqo'te is one of the more amusing angles I look for in RP this portion will be ever evolving with IC interactions as I play Rhynka and when more information on the subject is brought to light.

Though Rhynka is trying to adapt and blend in with urban society she holds to and still honors many of her cultural ideals. Keep in mind Rhynka can be quite open minded and flexible in her beliefs even with her rigid view points on many things in the city. While she feels the city makes sane people crazy, she finds urban life to be more of a parallel mirror to life in the territories the rules change only in their wording as the concepts stay the same and one thing can stand in for another.

The concept of Gil and other currencies is easy to grasp for her, much like water in the desert whoever has it makes the rules. From what she has observed of city life, especially in Ul'dah, this rule is law. Rhynka is also against an organized army of individuals created only to police the mass majority, by this she means guards. To her guards are simply a group of dishonorable attack dogs no different than bandits, capable of doing as they please when their master is not looking, or if their master is corrupt with power themselves under the neat clean pretense of the 'greater good' for the city. In spite of law enforcement keeping 'order' from crime, Rhynka feels that total anarchy would at least put everyone on even ground and allow the strong and cunning rights to power as opposed to Gil and noble bloodlines. Even with the Nunh aspect of her culture one is not born a Nunh it is an honor they earn by risking their life.

When it comes to the idea of the Nunh position, Rhynka fears the idea of challenges toward Razamir. Though they have loosened in their own ways this is an ideal still treated with honor and respect. She constantly pushes Razamir to become stronger for reasons of love aside from sex. Even in the event of Razamir's defeat she would still carry out her "Duty" to any new Nunh, but any sentimental attachment to him or the child born of this is strictly a question of her own free will and not an obligation as her heart belongs to Razamir. The thing Rhynka truly fears is Razamir's death above all as the Nunh challenge is a fight to the death and he'd not hand her or the girls over to any miqo'te man unwilling to die for them as he is.

Rhynka's perception on men and women differ from those of the city in a few ways. A man is defined by his honor and strength as well as the responsibilities he rigidly adheres to. A woman is deemed such by giving birth, until then she is a child still as the painstaking endurance and triumph in bringing new life to a tribe is seen as a trial of womanhood in Rhynka's eyes. Even in the event that a grown miqo'te female is barren and cannot conceive Rhynka's take only varies with the girl being gifted/cursed (Depending on their views) with forever being free as a kit (child) unbound to duty or responsibility. As Rhynka gave birth to her son at the young age of 15 she sees herself as a 'young woman' but by no means a child herself.(She also was helping deliver Miqo'te babies since she was 12 so any fear behind it was dispelled before her own rite.)She can come off as rude with this view point but Rhynka does restrict these ideas in reference to her own race only, and she is quite flexible in thought with room for enlightenment or having another look at the ideal in question.

This character can also be quite superstitious on a few things in or outside of her own cultural view point. For example Rhynka truly believes that being born with miss matched eyes is a symbol of greatness be it good or evil gifted by Azeyma amongst the Seekers. The circumstances of her son's birth along side his off colored eyes cause Rhynka to be very over protective of him as she adamantly feels he is an icon of hope amidst the current umbral era over shadowing Eorzea. Rhynka also holds Menphina in high respect alongside Azeyma as the sun and moon goddesses are sisters under Althyk the keeper of time and space, there for the balance of astral, and umbral is a point of high respect for her as vital as night and day (Sun and Moon) is to Eorzea.

  • Rhynka loves animals, and has an irresistible weakness toward babies, especially baby animals (Including drakes and other dangerous things).
  • Rhynka has an involuntary infatuation with anything precious and shiny. Examples: Precious gems, precious metals, precious gems and metals artistically combined are the worst!
  • You may have seen her wandering the area between Carteneau Flats, Coerthas, and possibly the outer most boarders of the shroud over the 5 year time skip she waited for Razamir to return.
  • Rhynka has an affinity toward string instruments and those she is unfamiliar she picks up on with ease.
  • Rhynka is a story teller "Never ask a bard several questions at once unless you want a story!" is her motto.
  • It is rumored Rhynka poisoned a patriarchal icon of her previous tribe.
  • Rhynka hates bandits or the mentality of, any she views as scavengers preying pathetically on the weak. This can include pirates given their personalities.
  • Rhynka has an unsettling feeling around highland hyurs, and exceptionally large midland hyurs of the male gender. She is good at keeping a poker face with this in public.
  • Rhynka has a massive soft spot for outcasts and misfits of many varieties.
  • It is rumored that "Only children and innocents can truly appreciate her beauteous voice in song."

Family/Caravan members

Razamir: Her beloved hero and Nunh, the individual she trusts most, and the father of her only son, Kamina.

Kamina (Age 5): Her first and currently only son, fathered by Razamir and born in a dire time of her life Rhynka views him as a beacon of hope. The child is able to get responses none other can from Rhynka. He's a total momma's boy.

Diakhan (Alt Age ??): An old friend she's known as an adult since she was a child. Diakhan is helping Rhynka tap into her hidden potential. Diakhan drives her nuts much of the time, but Rhynka respects her knowledge and wisdom, even if she can sound a bit 'touched in the head' at times. Said to be a mix of keeper and seeker most of Diakhan's looney habits and personality Rhynka just chalks up to bad breeding.

R'kimi, R'kami, R'ken (Caravan NPCs, Age 15): A set of awkwardly matching non-identical triplets that had come to the tribe after a two year long absence with Diakhan. Though it is rumored they are Diakhan's offspring Diakhan shows little if any maternal feelings toward them. Rhynka often calls them the "Brats" as she does most any child (Behaved or not).

Kojin: Nearest to Rhynka's age the young keeper of the moon, Kojin often serves as the only voice of reason when Rhynka finds herself neck deep in chaos due to their dysfunctional tribal/family structure. He is cleaver, and though he has a bit of a mouth on him Rhynka values his touch of sanity quite often.

Konri: Though he is around when he feels like it, Konri is both wise and detached from any situation happening with the caravan. Rhynka holds Konri in high respects for his carefree life style despite him being a free spirited Tia eager to trespass on any Nunh's pool of wealth.

U'zhan: The newest member of their merry caravan. Rhynka feels there is something great lingering in the young man's courage. She enjoys picking at him in an attempt to get him to leap from his comfort zone often! Even being the newest adopted member to their looney nomadic family, Rhynka has a tender spot for him as the brother she never got to bully.

Friends and Enemies

Kanko (Friend?): A cocky and fiery Miqo'te man she met in the desert during a disciplinary trial. Given the circumstances of her trial and the condition she was in Rhynka is unsure if the man was a mirage or real. "I give up! The heavens and hells arre of little sense to me rright now!" ~Rhynka

Xenedra (Friend): A charming tender at Soliloquy that Rhynka fancies to be an attractive lady, especially for a city Miqo'te.

Rakka'li (Friend): A kind Keeper boy with a horrible case of roamin' hands and rushin' fingers. Rhynka finds him charming but fears her own self control around him.

Deirdre Ta'ea (Frightening!): Though Rhynka's encounter with the woman was brief the Wildwood has left her impression burned into Rhynka's head. "Furrther prroof the city makes everryone crazy!" ~Rhynka
