Character

General

Rik'var has wandered for many years. Born in the Steppes, but after abandoning his tribe when young and living feral in the wilds for years, he ended up in Eorzea under the tutelage of an Ala Mhigan monk. That monk brought Rik'var from Azim to Eorzea, and the two wandered together. For a long time, he wandered alone, but recently, another has joined him.

Appearance

Tall and muscled, this Au Ra bears the weathering of many years outside. His scales and skin are more akin to hide, and show the marks of his rough living lifestyle. Capped with dulled metal, his horns sweep backward sharply. His fingers end in claws, clearly meant for something other than poking. Braids keep his black-green hair from flying free. With an aqua glow, the limnal rings in his eyes glint with wells of hidden knowledge. Those who gaze on the man would see that he stands plainly--almost lazily. Those who see him fight, however, know that his placidity is an illusion.

Personality

Out of combat, Rik'var is quiet and collected, tending to speak little unless it is of import. He thinks before he acts, at least, when he is afforded the option. It is rare for him to smile, and rarer to laugh, but that does not mean he has no humor. His armor shows the wear of the road, but his weapon is always sharpened. Having suffered a number of people to leave him, he carries distinct abandonment issues, which cause him to hesitate when involving himself with others.

Combat

General

Rik'var fights with a feral abandon. When using his fists, rather than the decisive closed-fist strikes of the Ala Mhigan monks, he uses claws, headbutts, and powerful kicks. He channels his fury into his strikes, and seldom does it cloud his perception.

After losing someone dear to him, he chose to learn the way of the Samurai as a method to distance himself from his old life. His sword strikes with precision and grace rather than feral strength.

Tendencies

Likes

  • Water. As he wanders, he seems to always make camp as near to water for more than simply having something to drink.
  • Combat. He wanders in search of fights to test himself.
  • Experience. He believes everyone should experience things that they normally would not so they can understand more of the world.

Dislikes

  • People who act without thinking of the consequences.
  • People who actively seek to control others.
  • Hangnails.

Hobbies/Talents

  • Rik'var meditates daily to suppress the feral urges he taught himself to survive. Even fifteen years later, he sometimes feels a surge of something primal within him.
  • Finding water. Seriously, man can find water in the desert.
  • Whittling. He has used a small blade to carve ornate placemarkers for himself to denote places he's been.

Relationships

Family

Likely, Rik'var still has family in Azim. His parents were alive when he left the tribe, and those who raised him are as much his family as anything. However, he has not seen them in at least twenty years. He was far closer to his mentor, and regards him as a much more prominent father figure.

Rumors place him in Azim, however, with a woman who seems to constantly be at his side--an Elezen with black hair, red eyes, and who matches his impressive height.

Friends

Rik'var has few he calls friend, as his travels take him into and out of people's lives often.

Enemies

Throughout his journeys, it is likely Rik'var has made enemies, but as he moves on he seldom maintains that sort of relationship. Whether others dislike him as he goes is not his problem.

History/Timeline

At ten summers, participated in the trial of his tribe--being tied up to a sacred tree and left to fend for himself and find the tribe. He completed his trial.

Upon completion, he left his tribe, and chose to live in the wilds of Azim, becoming a feral beast living off the land.

Around fifteen summers, a wandering monk of Ala Mhigo found him, and began to teach him.

At twenty-three summers, the monk passed during their travels. Rik'var continued to wander, no longer the feral child of the Steppes.

At thirty, he met Theresa Orycia, a retired Commander of Dragoons in Ishgard. The two departed Ishgard together, and wandered for a year.

At thirty-one, Rik'var and Theresa have arrived in Azim Steppes once again. Him to return, her to escape. They have formed an alliance with the Bairon tribe.
