Rikhu is a Machinist with a deep love of ancient technologies. If she doesn't have a wrench in her hand, then it's probably a mug of ale!
While 'Prodigy' might be a bit of an exaggeration, she has had a love of everything mechanical since a young age. After the Calamity, she found herself within the theocratic city-state of Ishgard. Her curiousity drew her to the loud sounds and billowing smoke stacks of the Skysteel Manufactory. Before she could be exited by the staff for trespassing, she had managed to assemble one of Stephanivien de Haillenarte's prototypes based on rough sketches he left nearby. Having witnessed her innate talent, he took her on as an apprentice. While the manufactory provided a means for her to develop her talents and skills, she craved something more. She had heard gossip of the wonders of magitek, but had no means of getting her hands on it--thanks to the Empire's monopoly on the technology. It wasn't until Cid nan Garlond approached Stephanivien with a proposal to incorporate magitek into the Manufactory's craftsmanship that her chance had arrived. She nearly pounced on Cid and begged him to take her on as a student. After much crying--and clinging to his leg for several yalms--he agreed to have Biggs and Wedge tutor her with a number of other recruits from around Eorzea. Unfortunately, working under the strict guidelines of the Ironworks made her restless. After having felt like she had learned all she could, she parted ways with them. She now works as an independent engineer to support herself, and travels across the realm to study unfamiliar technologies, most notably those produced by the Allagans and Goblins. Her constant companions are a small Iron Dwarf construct, Rusty, and her Anima, Deathlocke β. She reverse engineered the weapon based off the design of a certain famous eikon-slayer's firearm--with the assistance of Ardashir and Gerolt, of course. While not nearly as powerful as the original, it does house an artificial soul, whom she named Ricochet.
Constant exertion from turning wrenches and lifting exceedingly heavy metals has gifted her with increased muscle density in her limbs and core. Her slightly-more-broad-than-average shoulders support a head weighted with ideas and curiousity. She would be a picturesque example of health, were it not for her penchant for binging eating and heavy drinking. However, this consistent overconsumption has simply softened her physique. Her coal-colored skin is marred by only a handful of scars; one on her left cheek, and several on her calloused hands.
Aspects that stand out:
Rikhu is an odd little firecracker. Often times she can be seen rambling to herself, or her automaton construct. She has a bad habit of spacing out while deep in thought, much to the dismay of anyone trying to get her attention. When asked about her craft, she can very much talk your ear off.
She loves taking things apart and putting them back together, so be careful not to leave anything you value unattended. Despite her eccentricities, she has a kind heart and goes out of her way to help people, even if they cannot pay her. She would like nothing more than to provide the less fortunate with the same conveniences that the rich and powerful are priveledged with. She has no interest in romance. However, if she sees someone she likes, she will make it clear what she wants. She loves drink, and is not ashamed of it. She can put away a meal as easily as a Goobbue can swallow smallfolk. She's a little bit narcoleptic, falling asleep in random positions and places when she finally runs out of steam. Due to working with loud machinery and firearms, she has a slight audio processing handicap, which causes her to talk fairly loud, albeit unintentionally.
