GENERAL INFORMATION

Sahde Vhidgo was born to the Black Shroud, and for the vast majority of her life, that’s where she has remained. Her beginnings were humble, and not atypical of what many young Keepers of the Moon went through. The family she was born into were hunters and fishers, miqo’te who knew the woods as well as they knew themselves. Her clan can no longer be found beneath the boughs of the Twelveswood, however.

At an age that she was too young to remember, Sahde was taken under the care of Gridania’s rangers. She was taught to read and given the chance to learn the Shroud’s histories. As she came of age, she began training within the city’s guilds. The young Keeper encountered a great deal of frustration and difficulty throughout her training, but eventually managed to join the Order of the Twin Adder.

She says little of her years in training, or of the years spent in service to the Grand Company. After the campaign in Gyr Abania, and the subsequent liberation of Ala Mhigo, Sahde Vhidgo left Gridania entirely—she quit the Order of the Twin Adder, and dedicated herself to adventure and travel.

APPEARANCE

She carries herself without a great deal of pride, but often wears a smile—even if it must be forced. Sahde prefers frills and finery when she can afford them, and generally takes care of her appearance and belongings. Her hair—the same ruddy brown as the dark soils of the Shroud—is kept at shoulder-length. Her eyes, coloured the bright blue-green of snowmelt, are often accurately reflective of her current emotions. A scar crosses over Sahde’s left eye, and a small birthmark can be found just near it. Her traditional clan markings are only a few shades lighter than her dusky skin. She’s full-figured, with slightly wider bone structure than many of her incredibly lean kin.
Aspects That Stand Out:
Sahde has a penchant for greens and purples, in her clothing.
Though she dresses appropriately for travel and combat, she greatly enjoys what meager finery she has, on the right occasions.
Her newfound fascination for travel is occasionally reflected in her possessions—Sahde enjoys collecting trinkets and keepsakes from other places and cultures.

PERSONALITY

Sahde Vhidgo is outwardly quite bubbly. She has a smile for dangerous and pleasant consequences alike, and has little difficulty introducing herself, mingling, and generally being social. The Keeper often enjoys meeting new people, especially if they’re from cultures and lands that she’s less familiar with. In more private situations, however, she can become somewhat melancholy. Sahde has a tendency towards excess when it comes to libations, and does enjoy the warmth of Gridanian whiskey. No matter her mood, the miqo'te does enjoy idle teasing, but rarely descends to nastiness or snark.

L I K E S

Traveling. Though she’s new to the road (as well as the life of an adventurer) she has quickly become fond of it. New places—and all of the fresh experience that comes with them—are something that Sahde has come to relish.
Food. For much of her life, Sahde ate purely for sustenance. Lately, she's discovered that she has an affinity for new foodstuffs, and seeks to sample unfamiliar things at every turn.

D I S L I K E S

Condescension. As a Keeper of the Moon who has spent her life in the Black Shroud, Sahde is far too familiar with being ‘looked down upon.’ She has little tolerance for those who approach her this way.
Healing. Though Sahde allows herself rest when needed, she becomes quickly frustrated when bedridden, or forced to 'take it easy' for sake of mending wounds. Has she some other distain for healing magick, that explains her scowl? Perhaps...

H O B B I E S

Sketching. From portraits to beasts to landscapes, she frequently puts lead to paper after seeing a new place, or meeting a new face
Linguistics. A recently-discovered hobby, Sahde has found great enjoyment in learning the language of other lands, as well as the customs attached to them.

S T R E N G T H S

Spirit. When among well-liked companions, she is capable of great optimism. Sahde will usher her friends forward, cry caution, and fight as hard as she can, when their lives (or something less dire) is at stake.
Fighter. Though she's somewhat lacking in experience, Sahde is well-trained, and takes good care of her physique. Her penchant for fighting will likely only improve this, over time.

W E A K N E S S E S

Self-esteem. Though she’s aware of her skills, Sahde has great difficulty finding an overall sense of worth in herself. Certain measures of her talent (and history) bring forth these feelings more than others.
Prejudice. Having spent almost all of her life in the Black Shroud—and much of it in service to the Order of the Twin Adder—Sahde has a restrained prejudice against Ala Mhigans. It rarely manifests, and she understands that it's largely irrational. It nevertheless rears up in moments of intensity.

M O T I V A T I O N S

Discovery. In all of Sahde's actions, there exists a sense of background determination. When she fights, she tests herself. When she travels, she seeks out new experiences and sights. When she eats, she always orders something unfamiliar and exciting. Though her external pursuits are many (and frequent) almost all of them are for the greater hope that she finds something inside of herself...

RELATIONSHIP STATUS LEGEND
Family Involved Romantic Platonic Physical Friend Acquaintance $ Business Deceased Positive Negative Neutral Unsure
FAMILY
Elsont Bajitont, adoptive father. ( ) - Captain, Order of the Twin Adder.
Sahde's Thoughts: "He looked out for me when most others wouldn't. Aye, some say he's zealous, cross. Mean, even. But he was there for me, more than any other."
Because Sahde was so young, she no longer recalls the events that separated her from the rest of her clan. She was raised within the Twelveswood, bordering the city of Gridania, and Elsont Bajitont served as her father. He taught the young miqo'te how to read and fight. When she came of age, it was his rank that allowed her to move into Gridania's guilds so swiftly. During the campaign to liberate Ala Mhigo, his battalion was thoroughly decimated by Garlean Magitek. Though no remains were ever found, he was declared deceased.
NON-FAMILY
A'lehsi Tia, fellow adventurer. ( )
Sahde's Thoughts: "He's a handsome, fun lad, but there's always a reason for everything, aye? Knowing where he's from, I wonder why he lingers. I've a great curiosity on what he hopes to find, in this place."
One of the first fellow patrons that Sahde met at the House of the Hidden Pearl. She appreciates his candor, as well as the man's goofy smile and playful attitude.
Dayir Kahkol, fellow adventurer. ( )
Sahde's Thoughts: "She's an odd one, and I'm not just talking about those bright eyes. Fights with a fury, too, but doesn't brag about it. Truth told, I can't wait to work with her, again."
Their initial meeting was brief, and was far superseded by leve-work that they took up together. After some perilous fighting (and subsequent profit) Sahde has a fondness for the Xaela woman, and will likely seek out future opportunities to know her better, and face more fresh danger at her side.
Mandy Arixan, bitter mender. ( )
Sahde's Thoughts: "Clearly, she's been through some shite. Not my place to know or press, but she's good at what she does, and wouldn't be less it brought her something, aye?"
"Arixan" is a mender that Sahde has come to work with on a couple of occasions. She knows nothing about the young highlander, apart from the fact that she's terse, occasionally crude, and quite good at her job.
Slag-tooth Sibert, pirate adventurer. ( )
Sahde's Thoughts: "Gods, but he's fun, isn't he? Can't speak as to his past, but I sense some dark things, lurking there. Rather imagine that he laughs them off fair easily, though, as he seems to aught else."
She knows very little about this pirate, apart from the fact that he seems to have an unusual amount of care in him. For a pirate, anyroad. He's altogether pleasant, and also quite talented.
Solkgeim Soemrdoenwyn, fellow adventurer. ( )
Sahde's Thoughts: "I'm not terribly eager to admit it, but this lass brings me an onze of calm. Fancy that it's just knowing someone that has yet to see the greater of the realm, like me."
Sahde met Solkgeim upon arriving at the House of the Hidden Pearl. She enjoys the roegadyn's simple mannerisms, but also knows far better than to underestimate her, because of them.
Tansui Sasanami, inn proprietor. ( ) - Co-owner, House of the Hidden Pearl.
Sahde's Thoughts: "He's kind, isn't he? I fancy learning more of his tongue, given the chance and time. His language, you lout! I didn't know Othard from the moon, before coming to this inn, and now I'm swimming in it!"
Sahde stepped off a boat, and into the House of the Hidden Pearl, an inn and tavern located in La Noscea. She's become fond of the place and its owners. In time, she hopes to know Tansui better; she enjoys hearing about his homeland, and the customs he carried with him after traveling from it.
Yesugah Goro, fellow adventurer. ( )
Sahde's Thoughts: "I ought to've had greater trouble understanding her...but I didn't. Look into her eyes, when she talks about her lost husband. That's more real than most can find proper words for. I don't often fancy revenge...but I hope she gets hers."
Sahde finds Yesuga fascinating. Her frank manner of speaking and ever-present dedication are impressive. With more time spent together, she hopes to be able to know this woman as a friend.

RUMORS

N P C

Some of these rumors are untrue, speculation, or are greatly exaggerated.

◢ Common Rumors - Easily overheard. Use these freely!
"I'm fairly certain she feeds the fox better than she feeds herself. But that's true companionship, aye? It's how I knew to trust her to pay her debts." - Server, Carline Canopy
◢ Uncommon Rumors - A little more difficult to hear. Use sparingly or ask first!
"Sure, she smiles plenty. Until you get her drunk, then...well. Best I not say. Hope she's all right, though." - Ferry Captain, La Noscea
◢ Rare Rumors - Very rarely overheard. Please ask before using!
"If she ever wonders why she's lonely, she can happily blame it on being daughter to the meanest shite in the Adders. Godsdammit, I'd bet wolves look to that man for advice on how to better tear throats." - Twin Adders Corporal
"Saw her often! Occasionally, we'd share coffee during the midday bells. Bounced between the guilds as I recall, but spent the shortest time in Stillglade Fane. That was right before they all marched to Ala Mhigo, mind you..." - Actor, Mih Khetto Amphitheatre

ಌ OOC NOTES ಌ

OOC INFORMATION

Player Note
Hello! I'm Tom! There's probably not much you need to know about me, personally, if you'd like to RP with me, but here are a few details. I'm a professional writer, that loves to travel. I'm a fiend when it comes to coffee and cooking. I've worked for myself, independantly, for several years. I'm a full-time student. I adore animals, but currently live in a pet-free apartment, so please send help right away! My gaming time can be fairly limited, but because it's important to me, I always make time for it!
Personal RP Limits
First things first -- your best bet is always going to be to ask me! That said, I'll try to outline my personal preferences and limits below! I've run the gamut of different types of RP, from horrendous, character-smooshing violence to characters that have obnoxiously good sex lives. Amidst all of that, I've developed a pretty keen sense for what I'll enjoy, and what I won't. And though I'm going to repeat this a little further down, it's important to say it up front -- I am not my characters. Do I get emotionally invested in them? I hope to! Otherwise, they'd be a bit boring! Do I let my emotional investment in RP dictate my interactions with other players? Not in the least, and that's probably more important than anything you're about to read, below. Similarly, I do not enjoy letting overt things from my own life into my characters. Fourth-wall breaking, memes, and out-of-place references to anything modern (or glaringly out of place in the lore) will probably be ignored by me.
I will play Most things! Violence is fine. The lighter and darker ends of the RP spectrum, as well as everything in between, are fine. Romance and sex are also fine, but they come with stipulations (see below.) Personally, I much prefer adventure and action, to tavern-RP. However...Sahde does live in a tavern! I tend to strike a healthy balance of all things that I enjoy. Thus, if there's ever a question as to my participation in certain roleplay themes or events, just ask me!
I won't play While I'm pretty much okay with most subject matter, I do avoid exceess and the gratuitous. While I enjoy grotesque writing, violence for the sake of itself is not something I'm eager to participate in. Similarly, while genuine romance is a lot of fun, I don't enjoy it for the sake of itself. Organic roleplay is my jam. I don't enjoy stories, events, or character arcs that have specific ends in mind, from the beginning.
Disclaimer
Little Tidbits.
Sahde is a fairly inexperienced character, at the time of her creation. Though she fits into the timeline immediately after the liberation of Ala Mhigo, she has not traveled the breadth of the realm. Coerthas and Dravania are still largely unknown to her, not to mention all of the delightful vistas that exist across the ocean, in Othard. This is something to keep in mind, if you'd like to RP with her! She loves to travel, but the world is still massive and strange, from her perspective.
Even though Sahde is a relatively new character--in almost every sense of the word "new"--she's being played by somebody who has enjoyed FFXIV since its relaunch back in 2013. Thus, I'm extremely familiar with the world lore, as well as the gameplay mechanics and systems that it serves! If I seem busy with things other than RP, that's probably because I am! The PvE and PvP areas of the game are of great interest to me as well.

CHARACTER TIDBITS

Potential Plot Hooks
Because I absolutely don't want my character to exist alone in an RP vacuum, I've included some plot hooks below. Understand that many of these would be extremely limited in their ability to be known, BUT they do exist for that very reason! As ever, if you have a question about them, or intend to use one of them to set up roleplay, simply shoot me a message!
Sahde Vhidgo has experience with the Coeurlclaw Hunters. During a particularly troubling year of her youth, she fled her responsibilities and joined the wayward group of miqo'te for many moons. She does not openly talk about this time in her life, or even make reference to it. Therefore, it's very unlikely that anyone outside of her immediate acquaintances would know...apart from those members of the Twin Adder that she served alongside. If you'd like to use this hook, and require further information, let me know!
Speaking of the Order of the Twin Adder, Sahde served with them for some time. She only departed the Grand Company after Ala Mhigo's liberation. Therefore, it's possible that Gridanian (or greater Twelveswood) citizens could know of her. Members of the Twin Adder, especially, might recognize her. Though you can always ask me for greater details, here are a few things that would be more obvious: She trained in Gridania's lancer's guild for a short while. After a particularly troubling year of her life, she returned, but instead took up training at the archer's guild (where she did exceptionally well.) Shortly before the campaign in Ala Mhigo began, she was sent to Stillglade Fane for cursory training as a conjurer. The lattermost of these details would only be known to a select few, and she absolutely does not speak of it openly.
Sahde's innate aether has a few qualities that might be discerned by those who know how to look for such things. Most obviously, her aether is out-of-balance. The scale between Umbral/Astral has tipped hard towards Astral, though it's unclear when this occured. Because of this, her body doesn't always take well to mending, and she avoids aetheric healing when she can. The second, and less obvious quality, is that her innate aether has been put to extremely strenuous use in the recent past. As if it were rapidly, dangerously depleted, and then only refilled over a much longer period of time. Both of these tidbits of information would be difficult to see or know outside of scrutinizing attention (and also, permission from me!) so send me a message if you'd like to use either of them as roleplay hooks!
Character Lore Adherence
To the best of my ability, I always adhere to the lore. I adore the writing that this game is built upon, and want my characters to exist within it as seamlessly as possible. That said, I'm not an absolute stick in the mud when it comes to "bending" out of necessity. I handle this on a case-by-case basis, and always err towards upholding the lore. My policy is this: if ever a player is unhappy with the degree to which I've followed the game lore, they're free to either talk it out with me, or simply not roleplay with me. Not to put an overly harsh point on it, but we live in a big world, and my gaming time is dedicated to fun--not naysaying, heckling, or belaboring points that I would rather not. Because of this, I will absolutely always endeavor to respect others' time and fun as well!
Any necessary changes or exceptions will be listed here!
