♦ General
Born and raised in the clan of Qestir, Saikhan was a part of a hunting party roaming their territory when he caught the scent of a female Raen in the midst of traveling. The mating drive drove him to pursue her across Othard. He had thought he had won his right to claim her after he drove the bandits pursuing her, but she refused and escaped by sea to Aldenard.
Eventually sense returned to Saikhan, but his determination to have her didn't. He traveled across the sea himself to Limsa Lominsa where he was quite literally beside himself with culture shock. The outrageous mannerisms by the populace and their chaotic place of living brought him into flight or fight mode until a 'friendly' Roegadyn boxed him on the horns.
Once the surprise of the mass exodus of Au Ra arrived to the city-states, tensions relaxed. The commute of Limsa eventually wanted to learn more of his people (the Arcanist Guild most often) by talking to him, but he only believed their words as possible lies, and were put off when he refused to answer. This language barrier caused quite a bit of grief for him, but he found his weapons could do most of the talking and carved himself quite a niche as a sellsword while he traveled the continent.
To this day, he had not found the Raen he had mindlessly pursued, but he is seemingly content with the adventure though he'd never say it aloud. He is currently hunting somewhere in Dravania as its climate is comparable to the ones back home.

♦ Behaviour
Silence is both advantageous and a weakness to Saikhan, (especially among the other more vocal races), but he is adamant about keeping quiet of respect for his origins. It is culturally important for those belonging in the Qestir clan to avoid words as they believe speaking only engineers more lies than truth. Utterly sincere in personality and intent, Saikhan speaks through body language to justify his thoughts if he must.
Despite Xaela behavior being more violent than their much peaceful Raen counterparts, having a reasonable disposition has yielded greater rewards as a hunter than the others, and therefore Saikhan has developed a very mature if not reserved demeanor. However, he is capable of tapping into his more aggressive side when prompted and becomes extremely cautious of possible threats like non-Auri. On the same coin, he also becomes instinctively protective of his own, especially his more petite female counterparts.
When hunting, Saikhan can be unreasonably territorial, especially in regards to his kill or entrapment of prey. This stems from a long bloodied history with other Xaela tribes in Othard, but if one can get close enough to box him on the horns, he usually snaps out of the bloodlust.
Friends, be it Auri or no, are clan. Saikhan is very family-oriented and will often take a patriarchal approach to his comrades should they have to group together. He has no problem silently judging stupid ideas or smiling when something goes their way. (And, if irritated, will have no problem plucking up the source of his annoyance and carry them around until they gave up their fits from exhaustion.) Saikhan demonstrates a fierce loyalty to those he deems as his clan.
Combat
Made to contribute the Qestir clan as a hunter from birth, Saikhan is competent at both archery and lancing, the latter which he uses as a primary weapon. He is capable of stealth to an extent, but not much as his stature prevents him from doing anything but holding ground for too long.
But while he lacks the grace of a more lean ambusher, he makes up for it in tracking and strength. Using the vibrations in the air due to his sensitive hearing, Saikhan can follow prey many yalms away, even during loud climate conditions like storms or winds. This has become handy in crowded environments like Ul'dah or Limsa. He can single out a person's voice alone even in a large party.
Saikhan also prefers close combat in comparison to ranged. He has no problem pouncing onto a prey and inelegantly subdue them. In his youth, he had gotten in plenty trouble with clan leaders in the past for bringing in a kill too dirty and mangled beyond consumption. As he got older, he improved. Somewhat.
Special Abilities
Racial Abilities
Heightened Hearing: Using the horns affixed between his cranium, Saikhan uses the sound vibrations in the air to 'hear' and tilts his horns to focus the frequency of the sound. How fast the vibrations travel up and down his horns usually gauges how close he is to his target.
Empowered Sense of Smell: Like Miqo'te, Saikhan's clan employs a scenting system to deviate between clan and enemy. Rubbing body scales against an encampment marks the area as the clan's territory. This also identifies mated pairs and offspring.
Hard/Durable Exoskin: The hard scales over the extremities on Saikhan's body are a defense mechanism against the environment and combat. The chest, throat, and jawline are covered in tough calloused scales and further down in parts of the arms, hips, thighs and calves. This provides extra protection as these areas are an Auri's weakpoints.
Aetheric Abilities
Subpar Aetherial Content: Saikhan isn't very aetherially sensitive like most people. This makes him rather useless at spellcasting or sensing voidkin. However, he is in-tune to any strange supernatural occurances from aether so long as it affects the vibrations in the air.
