Basic Character Information

Physical Description & Appearance

SrsSati.jpg
Satisiun, by standards and measures of an Elezen male, is pleasant to look at, well above average in height, and generally all-around pretty well in-shape despite the fact he has only recently turned his sights towards the life of a freelancer here in the land of Eorzea. Standing at an impressive 7 fulms and 2 ilms, he will often find himself dwarfing most Elezen both female and male alike with his stature, only matched by some of the tallest of his kind, as well as similarly-built Roegadyn.

His form is lean, years of travel making sure that he never really 'pudged up' despite the more sedentary lifestyle of a merchant prior to his change in occupation. His more recent transformation in to a freelance Lancer has ensured that lean figure has now bulked up a bit with muscle; nothing too excessive or ripped like one may see on your standard Highland Hyuran, of course, but he is nonetheless toned.

His skin carries with it a healthy, glowing tan, the result of spending a good third of his life, at least, living in The Silver Bazaar, followed by several years in Ul'dah prior to present day events. Despite this, his hair never really was bleached too light as a result of the sun's rays, perhaps because he only arrived in The Silver Bazaar during his later childhood, around his pre-teen years. As black as coal, the only surprising trait to the color of his long mane of hair is the occasional streak of raven black-and-blue that runs through it. He insists it's just an odd yet natural abnormality, and his family would agree with that claim, Satisiun having never been the type to dye or highlight his hair after all.

As for his eyes, they are a crystal-like light blue, standing out thanks in large part to his skin and hair tones, and generally speaking usually have a pleasant brightness to them. Gentle, even. The rest of his face is well-structured, strong yet not too rough like his father's, having more of a soft appearance like his mother's. The only discernible thing that stands out is the long, diagonal gash that starts from just around the underside of his long, Elezen ear on the left side, and arcs across to just below his eye. It's a crude scar in regards to its location, and it's obviously the result of something thin yet sharp slicing his cheek, be it sword, spear, or something else entirely.

Personality

Friendly yet guarded, Satisiun has over the course of his lifetime been a myriad of different personalities during his maturation, both in terms of years passed as well as mental growth.

In his youth, from around the time he and his family moved to The Silver Bazaar, Sati was what one could consider 'brash'. Chalked up simply to immaturity and over-enthusiasm, Sati oftentimes got in to trouble with both family and friends alike for tending to look out just for himself. Keep in mind that it wasn't always a conscious effort to disregard others at this point, more just that he tended to be self-centered more out of ignorance than anything else.

During his early adult years, which he spent much of in the confines of Ul'dah, Sati could be defined as something of a selfish jerk. Perhaps it was the doting on that his parents did as he was growing up, or maybe it was the way that he lived a very comfortable life in The Silver Bazaar not needing to worry about food, clothes, or gil. Whatever the case, up until his mid-20s he was effectively looking out only for himself, making shady yet still legal deals as a conniving merchant to amass a small fortune for someone his age. Selling high, buying low, manipulating negotiations to his advantage even if it meant leaving others with a raw deal, Sati was content to live this life with nary a concern.

These days, however, Sati is much different. A few years spent traversing throughout Eorzea after some world-quaking revelations and dramatics in his life caused the once arrogant Elezen to do a near-complete turnaround when it came to his behavior, both in the way he generally presented himself and in the way he treated other people. Much more appreciative of what others must suffer through to survive and to make ends meet with the climate of war overtaking the continent as a whole. He tends to keep to himself most of the time, his sense of self-worth tending to be the reason for this, feeling a sense of penance that must be paid for his wheeling and dealing behavior that he once held on to so proudly in the past. If approached, Sati will offer a pleasant smile more often than not, a welcome ear, and if found at a tavern or inn willingly pay for a drink without a second thought. He won't often speak much about his past outside of vague references to it, preferring to not get in to the nitty gritty details unless he is dealing with someone who he has interacted with on at least several occasions.

He tends to conceal the fact that he is capable of wits and intellect that border on 'too smart by half' levels, preferring to present himself as just another wayward vagabond who occasionally dabbles in freelance work here and there, whether it be in the crafts (finding an enjoyment in carpentry, for example) or more combat-related activities, not at all shy about taking on regional levequests to aid in the expansion of the three primary city-states of Eorzea (yes, even Ul'dah, if only because the leves often aid the common person, and not just groups such as The Syndicate).

All in all, he revels in being 'just another face in the crowd' nowadays, not seeking fame, or glory; just taking each day one at a time, and hoping to pick up a few stories along the way.

Standard Clothing, Equipment & Attire

CasualSati.png
What happens when one of your closest friends (who also happens to be a family member) is someone who regards themselves as a bit of a fashionista? Suffice it to say Satisiun has more than one set of equipment that he wears, unlike many adventurers and wanderers in the world of Hydaelyn who live day by day with just the clothes (or armor) on their backs. Beyond the influence of his cousin Serris, however, Sati understands the need to have several sets of attire depending on what he is currently doing, whether it is traveling between warm and cool climate regions, to needing to stay incognito, to more formal dress for business activities (just because he is 'retired' from mercantile activities does not mean he is entirely dis-attached from them, after all).

Regardless, these are just a few examples of what Satisiun may be found to be wearing:

  • His standard attire is just that: the attire that he wears when doing most anything related to traveling, walking around town, fishing, and so on and so forth. Topped with the tarred, black-banded straw hat he always has on his head to conceal the long scar on his left cheek, the rest of his clothing is simple yet elegant, from the neatly pressed white shirt to the blue-and-gold doublet that he wears over it, giving him a wide range of comfort and motion. Tarred leather trousers ensure the ensemble of clothing is properly matching, coupled with a pair of traveler's shoes that keep his feet both warm as well as comfortable during long trips. The fingerless half-gloves that he wears allow him to wield either a tool or a weapon without any difficulties.

MercantileSati.png
  • During the chillier times of the year, as well as those times throughout his travels that he may need to dress more professionally when dealing with people, the merchant's garb that he has on hand will usually be tossed on. Ranging from a fuller, warmer, navy-colored coat with matching pants and noble's turban, Sati is not the biggest fan of this attire unless it is absolutely needed. Were it not for both Serris's and his parent's insistence, he would likely stuff this garb away in his house outright, or leave it with one of his retainers. Still, he sees its benefits now and then, especially during the chillier periods of the year in Gridania, due to The Black Shroud's location in relation to the rest of the Eorzean continent, being the most furthest north of the three City-States.

MaskSati.png
  • Lastly, as a result of his disassociation and distaste with the City-State of Ul'dah, Sati oftentimes will dress the part of a masked lancer if he ever has to step through the city's gates, both to stay unrecognized by people who he does not wish to be recognized by, as well as to be able to go about his business as quick as he can in the city before departing just as hastily. While the armor he wears can change depending on what he has recently acquired from the armorers and blacksmiths throughout Eorzea, the full, oaken mask that he uses to conceal his face stays on at all times. It is simply easier that way than having to use his standard straw hat or anything else he may have on hand to mask his identity. If he sees anyone who he recognizes, barring a close friendship with that person, he will ignore them outright so as to not draw any attention to himself.

[OOC Note: Of course it bears mentioning that all of this is entirely subject to change come Final Fantasy XIV 2.0/ARR. None of us really knows what will happen to legacy and outdated equipment, much less what will happen when one tries to equip gear that they have which, while it might have worked in 1.0, will not anymore due to level issues, or not fitting in vanity slots, or what have you. As such, this section is most definitely subject to change once I get my hands on 2.0 and see what has happened in terms of Sati's various gear and attire. One can only hope for the best, right?]

Tendencies, Superlatives & Interests

Talents & Flaws

Talents:

  • Fishing, or so he likes to believe. He's only good at it because he is persistent, not so much skilled.
  • Persistently Persistent. Related to fishing, though this is a general catch-all for a lot of things he does. He may not be the best Lancer, or the most adept cook, but he'll certainly keep chugging along and doing his best regardless of any self-doubt he might have.
  • Jack-of-all-Trades. Or to put it in a less flattering way, a "master of nothing". Satisiun knows the basics of many different jobs, and even finds this to be something he is proud of. Again, not the best at any one thing, but he's darn good, and reliable, in most everything.
  • Social Subterfuge. He's actually not as dim-witted or as naive as one might believe when interacting with him (see: Social Naivety in the 'Flaws' section below). The difference is that while in the past he really was those things, nowadays that same personality is more a front for a deeper, more insightful Satisiun.
  • Tactician. Time spent traveling has given him a bit of knowledge in to the ways of how things work, particularly in the case of combat. He would sooner try and outwit than try and take a monster, or another person, down with brute force.

Flaws:

  • Social Naivety. Satisiun isn't shy, nor is he unable to interact with other people. He does have an issue with not being as aware as others about subtle ques, body language, tone inflection, and the like. This can lead to innocuous questions or statements that are otherwise mistimed.
  • Sudden Withdrawl Symptom. On the topic of ques, certain ones will make the normally amicable and very friendly Satisiun go mute, or withdraw in to himself.
  • In Over Your Head. "Persistently Persistent" does have it faults, especially in the adventuring field. Satisiun has been known to, without fail, throw himself in to some rather precarious situations, and come out a complete mess.
  • Take The Damn Compliment. Satisiun is humble, and to a rather extreme fault. No matter how he succeeds, no matter what a friend says, no matter what he does, it will never be enough to make him think more of himself, unless it's basically slammed in to his face with the impact of a hora-clad fist. This can lead to severe frustration between himself and others.
  • Can't See The Woods Through The Trees. Focusing on the little things can be a bane, and sometimes the primary goal or overarching issue can be overlooked by Satisiun, especially if he zeroes in on something he thinks has to do with it, but in reality is only a small part of things.

Likes & Dislikes

Likes:

  • Fishing. Again. Whenever he is bored or just needs time to think, he'll turn to this.
  • Travel. His upbringing led to this, and despite his calling Gridania 'home' at the moment, he enjoys traversing the entire continent, sometimes just because he is in the mood to wander.
  • Music, in particular the voice of an adept singer. Music is something he can often be lost in.
  • Ul'dah Delicacies. While he may not be fond of the city much any longer, he still prefers their cuisines and foods over the 'natural' staples in Gridania, or the sea-based delights of Limsa Luminsa.
  • Rain. No, Satisiun is not emo or some such thing. He does, however, enjoy a heavy rain, and the way it feels when pouring down upon him. It is relaxing, and soothing.

Dislikes:

  • Ul'dah. Too much time spent there during some more decadent times between the time he became an adult, and a couple years prior to present day. Consider it something of a backlash.
  • Loud People. There's 'good' loud (like his friend Oria Argall), and then there is bad loud, like the type that comes bursting through a door, voice set to 11 on the volume scale. Know how one of the Miqo'te has a laugh that is more like a cackle? Think that sort of loud.
  • Hot Weather. Funny, considering how much time he spent in Thanalan, The Silver Bazaar, and Ul'dah. But Satisiun dislikes very warm weather. He much prefers the cooler climates.
  • Himself. Self-deprecation, hooo!

Fears

  • Coblyns. Have you seen those things!? Satisiun has an innate loathing for these creatures, having had a rather nasty experience as a child in which a pack of Coblyns decided to follow him around and just stare. Hilarity (or, in Sati's case, terror) ensued.
  • His Nightmares. Obviously everyone has bad nightmares, but Satisiun in particular fears his, as they are persistent, and seemingly never-ending in his sleep. He's been known to wake up, sweating bullets, frigid as ice, and visibly shaken. Worse yet, these nightmares are rooted in actual, past happenings, but with twists only the dream realm could add to them.
  • Failure. This one seems to be common in most everyone, and Satisiun is no exception. Past events have already made him have a very low sense of self-worth and feelings of total failure, and he fears being drawn back in to that same mire.
  • His Mom. When your mother is capable of kicking your ass despite being twice your age, you'd be afraid of them too!

Family & PC/NPC Relationships

Family

Jaconin.png
Jaconin and Erana Desain (father and mother): Jaconin and Erana met during their respective travels across the Eorzean continent, both of them being Elezen merchants who often moved from city-state to city-state, and town to town both selling wares as well as buying up new merchandise and materials to bring elsewhere. Once Erana became pregnant with their son Satisiun, both mother and father decided to settle in Ala Mhigo, using its location to their advantage prior by traveling between the Garlean Empire and the rest of Eorzea.
Erana.png
As a result of their connections in the Garlean Empire, the Desains were able to find out about, and leave prior to the invasion of Ala Mhigo with ample time, at the same time bringing with them a modest amount of their assets before settling in The Silver Bazaar, by that point Satisiun having just become a teenager or close to it in regards to his age. Since Erana's side of the family originated from The Silver Bazaar, this allowed them to acclimate to the new location rather easily, continuing to grow their merchandizing business from there, however focusing more on the trade between Limsa Lominsa and Ul'dah as a result.

Both Jaconin and Erana could be considered your typical, loving parents who, perhaps as a result of too much doting, ended up spoiling their son. Of course Satisiun still greatly respects, admires, and without a doubt loves them, and after returning from Ul'dah during his early to mid-20s, has a newfound appreciation for all that they have done for him growing up. Jaconin is something of a workaholic father, the type that can get easily lost in his work, but that's largely because he enjoys what he does and not so much because of a desire for more money. Erana, who retired from being a merchant to be a homemaker after Satisiun's birth, is the sort of mother who demands respect from most anyone, especially his son. She can be doting one moment, and steel-eyed the next, especially if she feels that Satisiun is behaving in an unbecoming fashion.

As of Bahamut's attack on the whole of Eorzea, including the Thanalan region, their current status is unknown.

[OOC Trivia!: The name 'Erana' actually comes from the wizard Erana from the Quest for Glory series of games. Be sure to check the series out if you're a fan of point-and-click adventure!]

Serris Desain (cousin): Satisiun's cousin on his mother's side of the family. Serris is only a couple of years younger than Sati, and as a result they always got along well after he and his parents relocated from Ala Mhigo to The Silver Bazaar. Growing up, Serris always envisioned becoming something of a clothweaving fashionista, and as a result is largely responsible for Sati's wardrobe. Despite his protests whenever he visits she is always there to look him over, patch up his attire, and then turn the poor Elezen in to something of a mannequin to try out her clothes on before she departs for her next big trip to Ul'dah, where she peddles those fabric-based wares.

Much like Satisiun's parents, as a result of Bahamut, Serris's status and whereabouts for the time being are unknown.

[OOC Note: Serris is a character that was created and is owned by a long time friend of mine who also happened to play Final Fantasy XI on and off. In the event that she ever decides to try Final Fantasy XIV, this description of Serris will be tweaked to accommodate for her turning from an NPC to a player character.]

Non-Player Character Relationships

DuskwightVespaa.jpg
Vespaa V. Lenouix: The relationship between Vespaa and Satisiun began some several years prior to present events, around the time when Satisiun and his family, after escaping the downfall of Ala Mhigo at the hands of the Garleans, settled comfortably in The Silver Bazaar. Something of a tomboy, Vespaa was one of the first children to interact with and then befriend Sati when he arrived, and save for his similarly-aged cousin Serris, was basically with him wherever he went, making sure to keep the feistier, somewhat snarky teenager in line. While Serris could be said to be the one who played the role of Sati's super ego, to resort to Freudian terms, Vespaa was who was his conscience's ego, doing her best to keep him focused and balanced despite his brash behavior.

Vespaa was the one who, after losing touch with him for a couple of years, found him in Ul'dah in horrid shape after getting in far too deep emotionally and mentally, a veritable mess of a broken man. She was the one who patched him up and herded him back to The Silver Bazaar to assist in his rehabilitation, and were it not for her protective attitude towards him, he probably would have gotten in to even worse dire straits than he was in to begin with.

Although Vespaa is someone who could be considered adventure-capable, she's always decided to just stay back in The Silver Bazaar, instead turning to a life of mercantilism and merchandising in the Thanalan region, something which she greatly enjoys. As a result of this, Sati only sees her whenever he stops by home to visit his family. Despite the time between visiting being few and far between due to Sati's avoidance of the Thanalan region at large (and Ul'dah), they are still very close friends, and Sati would do most anything to make up for what she has done for him in the past.

Vespaa's status, just like Sati's parents and Serris, is currently unknown due to Bahamut's destructive chaos.

[OOC Note:Although Vespaa is an NPC to Sati's story, the character is also another one that is owned by a friend of mine from Final Fantasy XI. In the event that she does ever decide to come to Final Fantasy XIV and also play around/role play on the same server, this will be tweaked to show as such!]

Player Character Relationships

Oria Argall: Oria was one of the first people that Satisiun met after venturing out on his own from The Silver Bazaar, accidentally bumping in to the young Hyur female while making his way through Gridania on one random day. They originally hit it off quite well, Oria and Sati getting along greatly for a time before drifting apart as a result of Sati's hesitancy to interact with the larger groups of people that Oria often ran with. As a result they lost touch, and have not interacted with one another for well over a year.

Anastasia Nachtengaal: Being the second person that Satisiun ran in to, both he and Oria Argall met the Miqo'te while just sitting in Gridania and chatting casually, surprised by the F'lhaminn copycat's near-identical appearance to the much more well-known Ul'dah celebrity. Over the course of several months, Anastasia and Satisiun got very close, the Miqo'te helping the Elezen to come to terms with his issues of relational troubles and commitment. Unfortunately at some point Anastasia vanished, and while Sati at first felt slighted by this, was nonetheless appreciative for her assistance with some of his personal issues, and hopes to bump in to her again some day.

After The End

[OOC Note:As a result of FFXIV 2.0/A Realm Reborn currently not being out, this section will be intentionally left with no information in it until a better understanding of what has happened to Eorzea is attained, hopefully when the process of closed/open beta begins for Legacy Account holders. So until then, consider this section under construction!]

Affiliations (both PC and NPC-created groups)

As a result of Satisiun's rather nomadic and independent ways leading up to the End of Eorzea, the Elezen currently has no affiliations to any group, be they linkshell, guild, company, or otherwise. This is something of a double-edged sword to him, as while at many times it gives him more freedom over his wandering lifestyle, it also ensures that he stays on the fringes of a society which largely revolves around organized groups and cliques of people banding together.

This is not to say Sati is outright dismissive of affiliating with any particular group, however; he simply wants to make sure that whomever he falls in with is an organization worth his respect and loyalty, as he is the type to give one-hundred and ten percent to those who earn it.

Other Information / Out Of Character Information

The Rumor Mill
  • Common Rumors (Easily overheard):
    • "I hear he likes to travel a lot. Makes sense, since he seems to come and go from Gridania as he pleases, sometimes not returning for several days. Seems to have quite the wanderlust even if he does like to consider this place his home."
    • "Heard the Elezen's got a rich family, he does. What with all the fishin' he does, guess it makes sense since he doesn't do much of any work or seek any 'round here."
    • "Can't find him, eh? Go lookin' around the rivers or lakes. Odds are he's out fishin' like he always is."

  • Moderate Rumors (Moderately difficult to overhear):
    • "Best not talk relationships around that man. Tends to rile him up a might bit, if not make him go an' get a whole casket from the bar and take to drinking by himself."
    • "'tis not what I heard, mate. Rumors are brewin' that Elezen somehow hooked himself the Songstress of Ul'dah! Guess if you're gonna get over heartbreak, you may as well go for broke!"

  • Rare Rumors (Very difficult to overhear):
    • "Seems he's got quite a name for himself in Ul'dah, and not a good one either, from what my sources are telling me. Caused a real ruckus at the tavern some years ago. The proprietor of the place always keeps an eye on him whenever he comes about, just to make sure he doesn't go off the deep end or anythin'."
    • "Apparently he was born in Ala Mhigo, though he doesn't much like talking about it. Considering his age, couldn't have been too old when the Garleans razed that place."
    • "'tis a nasty scar he's got, ain't it? Musta gotten it from some sort of fight he lost, considerin' he is always wearin' that hat to try an' keep it hidden."

  • Things You Can't Possibly Know (But I want you to know OOCly):
    • The scar on his cheek and lower ear is the result of a rather painful, self-inflicted bit of insanity where Satisiun snapped for a time. He basically ripped out an earring given to him by someone who had been extremely important to him, and in turn slashed his cheek with the sharp end of the earring fasten, not to mention the fact his lobe was ripped in half from the piercing down to where his ear ended. A close friend stitched his ear and cheek up, but considering the severity, it was going to scar no matter what. He's 100% sane now, but it's something he never brings up, and hates to talk about.
    • He's amassed a small bit of money from the years he worked with his extended family, plus parents, in the trade business. To save time and trouble explaining why he still needs gil for equipment and other things, simply assume all his money goes towards living expenses, and they will last indefinitely.
    • Prior to his more low-key and amicable attitude, he was something of a brat, not to mention a jerk, related to the fact he was brought up rather well-to-do. That isn't the case anymore, but it's worth noting when it comes to his past.
    • In relation to the rumors about his courting 'The Songstress of Ul'dah', also known as F'lhaminn, these are layover rumors from when he dated another character named Anastasia Nachtengaal for a time, who was a dead-ringer/body double for the popular Miqo'te from Ul'dah. The relationship was short-lived, however there are still the occasional murmurs about it.

Character Tropes

History Tropes

These tropes concern Satisiun's backstory

  • Smug Snake: Believe it or not, Satisiun was something of a Jerkass in his young years (think mid-teens to early-20s). This was largely an unintentional result of being spoiled during his upbringing, not just by parents who doted on him a little too much, but also having a more than well-to-do life.
  • Jerkass: To put in to magnitude just how big of a jerkass he was, basically imagine an Ebeneser Scrooge pre-Christmas revelations. He connived, he played the market (much of his own personal wealth while he stayed in Ul'dah was amassed through buying for disgustingly cheap prices, then selling high, effectively working as a middle man who did little work), and he really didn't give two damns about anyone else or their problems and issues. With the exception of family, and his friend Vespaa, he largely cared just for himself.
  • Heel Face Turn: While Satisiun was never evil, basically consider this a change from the Smug Snake to something completely different a few years before the present events of Final Fantasy XIV. This was brought about during the tail-end of his time spent in Ul'dah as a young adult.
  • Love Makes You Crazy: Just look at what he did to himself as a direct result of his feelings for someone (check the Rumors section). He's perfectly sane now, however he went rather mad for about the duration of a few weeks to a couple of months in the ensuing aftermath.
  • Failure Knight: Originally I had The Dulcinea Effect up on its own, but realized that this trope better fit Satisiun when you considered the ensuing chaos and tragedy which occurred, not to mention his sense of failure and depression over what he believes was his fault.
  • Walking The Earth: Satisiun may not be penniless, but as a wanderer this trope personifies the fact that he has definitely gotten around, and with little trouble, when it comes to traversing the continent of Aldenard. It's one of the whole reasons he is adventuring now, as despite having a comfortable life and extended family he could always go back to in The Silver Bazaar, he prefers to roam. He began to wander on the recommendation and urging of his family after the events that transpired in Ul'dah.

Skill/Ability Tropes

This one should be obvious!

  • Blade On A Stick: Because Satisiun is going to be majoring with a bachelor's degree in Polearm Engineering (Lancer/Dragoon).
  • Minored In Asskicking: Satisiun isn't some super-powered Elezen who is "hiding his power level", but he nevertheless likes to show restraint in a lot of situations unless he has to do something. When he does finally decide to do so, however ...
  • The Mario: No, he's not like the Mario, but as this trope is defined, Satisiun is a jack-of-all-trades. A master of nothing. As the trope even says: "Strong but not the strongest, fast but not the fastest". This shouldn't, however, be seen as some form of trying to make him overpowered. This is simply meant to make clear that Satisiun has no clear strength, not so much that he lacks weaknesses (and believe me, he has those).

Personality Tropes

These tropes concern Satisiun's current in-game personality

  • Knight in Sour Armor: Satisiun's really been beaten up over the years, and not just in the physical department. He isn't the type to be an outwardly smarmy jackass, but he definitely has become very bitter. Still, being a good person is still second nature to him, to the point of acting on instinct.
  • Humble Hero: Satisiun has never been the proud type, and it really shows. He doesn't like bringing attention to himself, no matter what he does. This goes hand in hand with #1, teetering almost on the self-deprecating hero over time.
  • It's All My Fault: Connected to both previous tropes, too. Sati's got a lot of weight to carry, and regardless of how little responsibility he may have for whatever happened to him, he takes way too much blame.
  • Obfuscating Stupidity: Satisiun is really not as unaware as he seems, believe it or not. This actually is the product of humility (see: Humble Hero above) to a fault. The original Satisiun prior to his time in Ul'dah was arrogant, cocky, and never had an issue with expressing his thoughts or opinions on something, and trying to come off as if he knew everything. The aforementioned humility, however, made him change.
  • Freud Was Right: This isn't something that will become obvious or is even heavily implied when playing, but under the nice guy demeanor he does sometimes find himself having thoughts related to a comment or something he sees that may not exactly be PG. But that isn't to say he is a hornball; Sati just has heard one too many dirty jokes and now sees many a thing when in light company as amusing in the same way.
  • Rule Of Funny: Not really sure how to explain this one, since even the trope defines it as a character stepping out of their norm to bring a laugh. Basically just think of this being here since I tend to be a rather horrid person when it comes to the puns, so expect them occasionally from Satisiun, too.

Miscellaneous Character Information
  • Voice/Speech Characteristics: Due to a variety of reasons ranging from extensive travel, to spending time in several places as he grew up, Satisiun lacks any sort of discernible accent, whether it is the cockeyed accent of a Limsa Lominsan, or the more smooth sounds of an Ul'dahn. He speaks plainly, his tone a bit on the deeper side, but not so much that it seems uncharacteristic of his appearance. (( OOC: A perfect representation can be found in the following two links, where Crispin Freeman voices both Zelgadis (the blue-skinned character) of Slayers, and Togusa (the mullet-maned male) in Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex: [ ] [ ]. ))

  • Character Image Music: [ ] - Nujabes, Aruarian Dance. Sati's theme generally fits the mold of his wandering ways, the sort of music one would hear during travels both short and long. I've also always had a fondness and love for the Nu-Jazz stylings of Nujabes, and consider using some of his music a humble way to honor the man. R.I.P.

  • A lot of Satisiun's backstory is related to prior happenings to Satisiun's FFXI version, translated and molded to better fit the Eorzea setting. While this may come off as unoriginal in some ways, Satisiun has been a part of my gaming life for just shy of 10 years now, ever since the release of FFXI in North America. I once even flirted with the awful idea of using a Cavernous Maw from FFXI to drop the Elvaan Sati in to FFXIV, as horrible as that is! Sort of funny when you consider Atomos coming and messing around in FFXIV during the end of 1.0, huh?

  • One particularly outstanding quirk that people tend to notice, and that I've tossed in as a common trait of Sati's, is his sheepish, sometimes bashful behavior. This can lead to a few quirks, such as mildly nervous laughter, head rubbing, and stupid grins. In short, he can definitely come off as a little clumsy at times, but don't let that fool you! He's definitely not as silly as he can appear at times.

About the Player / Playing Style
  • Whenever I am playing Satisiun on the primary roleplaying server (Balmung), I usually range anywhere from medium to heavy-content roleplay style. I mention this because Sati is on two different servers, one which is more focused on playing the actual game (Aeigis), and the other being for aforementioned roleplay. If you happen to also bump in to me on Aeigis, don't hesitate to say hello! Just know that I'll likely be keeping any sort of roleplay light over there, and not at all serious.

  • The player is a 30-year old BS holder in Sport Management who is currently in the process of going back to college for a teaching license at the start of 2013, and thus will be on and off at random times. That said, I'm still free to set up scenes whenever I have free time, and can schedule scenes around whatever I have going on!

  • That said, I am usually available starting around the early afternoon, US Eastern Time (GMT-5), and save for when plans come up or I am busy around the home, I am usually settled right at the computer and online, either working on something or looking for something to do.

  • With Final Fantasy XIV currently on hiatus due to the transition process to A Realm Reborn, I'm more than willing to also play through Instant Message, and wouldn't mind even finding ways to retcon in interaction or relationships prior to the End of Eorzea, either, provided they're good stories and worthwhile content. Feel free to message me on the Forums to inquire as to contact information!

  • For the moment, I also play Final Fantasy XI! Satisiun originated from there, and while I'm not so much keen to roleplaying when over there, if you also happen to be on the Carbuncle server feel free to give me a wave if I happen to be on and you spot me.
