Character

Background

Sehn Garanjy was born in Gridania, the third daughter of Tanh Garanjy. Sehn grew up in a crowded hut on the outskirts of the city, surrounded by her extended family. Her branch of the Garanjy family-- headed by Namh Garanjy, Sehn's grandmother-- made its living as tanners, preparing animal skins for the city's leatherworking guild. In order to cut costs, many members of the Garanjy family took up hunting, though they were always pressured to follow the poaching restrictions to the letter. As Moon Keepers, they were all too aware of the suspicion that would automatically be placed on them. But even under the Wood Wailer's ever-watchful gaze, the Garanjy family always managed to make ends meet, albeit seldom in the most glamorous ways. By the time she was ten, Sehn was following her sisters on hunts, helping them carry their game back to the city.

Six years their sister's senior, Nah and Kheya Garanjy were already experienced hunters, having followed their aunts and cousins on numerous hunts since they were Sehn's age. Sometimes, though, things go wrong. Nha, Khey, and Sehn crossed paths with Redbelly poachers one day, and while Sehn was able to escape with her life, her sisters weren't so lucky.

Heartbroken by her sisters' deaths, Sehn threw herself headfirst into studying combat. While her grief and anger initially proved a handicap to her studies, Sehn's temper eventually cooled, mostly helped by a teacher at the Lancer's guild. When he wasn't showing Sehn how to properly handle a spear, he taught the young Moon Keeper in the ways of the Ul'dahn pugilist's guild. Sehn showed particular talent for fistfighting, more than she ever showed in any other style of combat.

At fourteen, Sehn had just started to go out on hunts alone, often straying farther from the city than she should. On one such excursion, she happened upon another girl, Alice Lancaster, hiding in a tree from a wolf. Sehn dispatched the wolf easily enough, and brought the strange girl home with her. Upon learning that Alice had run away from home, Sehn's mother offered the girl a place to stay. While the living arrangements were initially intended to be temporary, Alice was soon accepted into the Garanjy household, with Sehn considering her a sister.

When Sehn was sixteen, Alice announced her intentions to go to Ul'dah to study Thaumaturgy. Sehn jumped at the chance to go with her, eager to practice pugilism further. The sisters departed Gridania, and they soon engulfed themselves in their respective studies.

Time soon pulled Alice and Sehn apart, and while they still considered themselves sisters, they simply had other things to do. Sehn fell in love with the art of punching things all over again, her strength progressing rapidly. The next four years were filled with adventures for Sehn, albeit small ones. One such adventure lead her to an inn in Southern Thanalan, and inside that inn she met a fellow Moon Keeper by the name of Miah'a. The two parted ways a few weeks later, but Sehn soon noticed something strange: she had stopped her monthly bleeding.

Sehn returned home to Gridania only to have her fears confirmed by her mother: She was pregnant. Sehn moved back to Gridania, her adventures put on hold until her child was born. Asha Garanjy was born late in the ninth month of the year, and while Sehn loved her daughter dearly, she was eager to return to a more action-filled lifestyle. Sehn returned to Ul'dah late in the summer of that year, and her studies resumed, albeit with frequent breaks to visit her daughter in Gridania.

After reconnecting with Alice, Sehn learned of the Charlemend and Lumont accounting firm. Sehn found work as muscle for the company, and has been employed by them ever since.

Appearance

Sehn is tall for a Miqo'te, with greyish-brown skin and the same green eyes as everyone else in her family. Her body is covered in multiple scars, the most prominent running diagonally across her nose and another along her left cheek, stretching down towards her lower jaw. She has the physique typical of someone who exercises as much as she does, very muscular and with very little fat anywhere on her body. She keeps her dark violet hair short, and is fond of more revealing clothing (she likes showing her muscles).

Behavior

One of the most noticeable things about Sehn is just how nice she is. She's friendly to almost everyone, be they ally or antagonistic, often complimenting the latter on their fighting prowess should she be going toe-to-toe with them. It is incredibly difficult to make Sehn angry if you aren't actively trying. Some might assume that the woman's chipper attitude is a sign of naivete, but Sehn simply doesn't seen any point in being cruel. She remembers feeling bitter and angry at the world, and she remembers it feeling awful. Approaching things with a positive attitude is simply more fun. She's perfectly capable of being serious when the situation demands it, but unless straits are particularly dire, Sehn will meet most things with a smile.

Sehn's biggest weakness is probably her attention span. She doesn't like sitting still for any period of time, and is always eager to do something. Fight someone, or kiss someone, or both, or experience something new. Sehn lacks the patience required for more academic fields, and this often leads to the assumption that she is simple. And that assumption isn't entirely wrong-- Sehn prefers to go straight to the point, and subtleties are usually lost on her.

Combat

General

Sehn likes punching things, plain and simple.

Initially trained by the Lancers, Sehn is perfectly comfortable wielding a spear, but it certainly isn't her preferred weapon. As far as she's concerned, her fists and feet are the best weapons at her disposal. She'll use cesti and claws and the like if it's needed, but Sehn's favorite style is simply her fists against her opponent's jaw.

Sehn is a pugilist, and she's a damn good one. Her punches are fast and strong, and her kicks are something novices at the Pugilist's guild quickly learn to dread. She is also overly fond of headbutts. Sehn is agile when she needs to be, but she is equally good at taking hits-- in fact, she might be better at taking hits. Sehn is able to power through blows that would drop larger fighters, and as long as she's conscious, she's usually ready and eager to continue fighting, no matter her injuries.

Recently, Sehn has been attempting to open her chakras. Progress is slow, but Sehn Garanjy is nothing if not determined.

  • Simply put, Sehn doesn't really have enemies. She has people she doesn't like very much, but even then she doesn't really wish them ill. The closest thing to enemies she has are the Redbellies, but even then Sehn has largely let go of her anger towards them. She'll fight them if she has to, and warn people away from them, but she isn't going to go out of her way to ruin their days.
