Character

General/History

Selchie is a young adult Miqo'te of the Keepers of the Moon Clan. Her ancestry and family is a mystery, as she was an orphan of unknown origin. She was taken in and raised by an old Red Mage, who trained her as a magician and swordswoman. This Mage who raised her in her youth (she refers to as her "Old Master") passed away when she was a young teen. For most of her teen years she went on her own, fending for herself and adopting the lifestyle of an adventurer. Now she makes her home in Ul'dah, continuing her adventures and training outside the city.

Appearance

Selchie is average in height for a Miqo'te woman, with long dark hair and smooth pidgeon-blue skin which seems to meld into shadows. She's commonly seen carrying a Rapier at her belt, the weapon of choice for a Red Mage. She spends a good amount of time on her hair, which she keeps long and elegant-- never a strand out of place. Occasionally she will change her hair's colour, frequenting dark tones with colourful highlights. Her eyes are light platinum blue, and it often goes unnoticed that her right eye is a darker colour than her left. Bring a Keeper of the Moon, her eyes are attuned for night time and naturally have large pupils (While her vision is especially good in darkness, the sun can be blinding to her).

Personality

Selchie is mostly reserved and solitary, living alone and keeping few close friends. However, she has no trouble socializing and even finds it refreshing on occasion. She's simply more comfortable keeping a distance from strangers, and tends to be more active during the evenings and nights (this is also partially due to her eyesight). It may be hard to gain her trust, but she is greatly loyal to those she considers her allies. Selchie prides herself on her quick thinking and decision making, and her knack for staying positive. She always focuses on the silver linings, and can always find the bright side to a bad situation. Despite her apparent focus and attentiveness, she's known to occasionally become lost in thought, during which times she'll temporarily become unaware of her surroundings and mutter strange things to herself.

Combat

In combat, Selchie combines elements of black and white magic with sword-art. Her mind is as sharp as her blade, while physically she is not exceptionally strong. However, her cat-like agility and skill with a rapier make her no less than capable in close-quarters.

Quirks

• Thalassophobia. Selchie enjoys relaxing in a pool as much as the next person, but any body of water deep enough to drown in utterly terrifies her.
• Lost in thought. Sometimes Selchie will temporarily become unaware of her surroundings, lost in her thoughts. This state is commonly brought about by stress or other strong emotions, but rarely lasts longer than a few moments.
• Light sensitivity. Selchie can see quite well in the dark, but bright lights (including the sun) can be rather irritating.
