Shina Takahashi (高橋 品 Takahashi Shina), also known by her pen name Kō Hyōjōsho, is a Hingan noblewoman, author, and adventurer. The youngest daughter of Takahashi no Kagetora, an important bakufu official, and Takahashi no Tsuru, a Doman samurai, Shina is equally haughty, witty, and utterly self-assured. Her travels have taken her from the elegant noble courts of Bukyo to the vibrant theaters and hostelries of Kugane, from the endless horizons of the steppes to the walls and gates of occupied Doma. The latter of these journeys left her an outspoken opponent of the Garlean Empire, frustrated with the bakufu's inability to stand up to the empire and the high-handedness of the imperial diplomatic corps in Kugane. This eventually saw her into a genteel, informal exile from Hingashi; she came west to Eorzea, where-- with the Grand Companies preparing to move against Garlean forces in Ala Mhigo-- the powers that be, however flawed, were at least willing to fight.
