Appearance

Shinra appears young even for 24, his skin is pale and fair. He generally keeps his hair longer and darker but, this is known to change frequently due to work. He is of average height and of a slightly lighter build. His eyes are a deep red.

Generally is seen in darker Maelstrom armor. His clothing choice tends to allow for movement and he is normally seen with his sword on his hip or his hunting bow on his back.

If one was to see Shinra without a chest piece they would notice a scar on his chest from a spear, and along his left hip what seems to be a claw mark. On his hand he bears a Garlean prison brand, that has additional markings to signify he is a lab subject.

Personality

Shinra is a generally reasonable, polite, and good-natured individual. He seems overly polite to the point of others thinking he is mocking them, this really isn't the case. Shinra was not raised by a tribe or mainly in a city. He normally tries his hardest to be what society would deem "right" for the scenario, however if formalities don't need to be observed you will find a much more laid back individual. On the downside Shinra has a strong will to survive, and although he wishes to be a good person he won't let such a trivial brand get him killed. Ruthless, tactical, and willing to cheat on the field, and what can only be described as a 180 in business meetings. That is what society knows of the man.

Shinra also has a fear of channeling Aether and when doing so can be driven to a point of hysteria. In a small dose he would be fine, but dealing with him in combat in an area heavy with Aether would probably not be for the best of anyone involved.

Biography

Childhood

SPOILERS ABOUND

Shinra was born in a small hunting outpost near the Garlean Borders. He lived a relatively happy life in the forests with his family. It was here he trained under his parents to hunt and under his few neighbors how to survive. At the age of 10 he, was out playing with his sisters when Garlean escort happened upon the outpost. The outpost was destroyed and his family turned into prisoners. Shinra and his family became test subjects for numerous research projects.

Teenage

After three years in that hellish lab Shinra had made his escape. Vowing revenge and a method to reverse any future project results he entered the Shroud. He managed to make his way to Gridania where he trained and studied. On his Seventeenth birthday he left Gridania to try his skill, and begin his latest hunt.

Present

These days Shinra has made a name for himself as a Security Adviser, and solver of problems. He has built up a small library of books, tomes, scrolls, and other sources of wisdom and, is researching into something he doesn't wish to share. He recently hit a road block in his studies and has joined the Night Blades in an attempt to further mutual goals.

Friends & Acquaintances ♥ Umi kanzato - After meeting her under odd terms, the two talked to some length before he decided to help her on her mission. After the two had spent some time together in the field Shinra had developed feelings for her. He later explained his feelings for her and the two have been trying out a new relationship. ● S'ereno Tia - The chance encounter of meeting this individual multiple times did not initially sit well with Shinra. He sensed something off about the man but didn't place much more than a cautionary sign on the individual. On a field exploration into corrupted Aether he happened upon Reno again. After a short exchange he was sure he might have to kill the man. Things eventually worked out to an understanding and, words of friendship were exchanged yet, Shinra remains slightly cautious of him to this day. ● Stanzie Ryhees - Met with her to enter the Night Blades R&D division. Found her to be polite and, reasonable. Fairly cautious which was understandable. He highly enjoyed their meeting and hoped for future meetings to be as enjoyable. ● Tosheden Muramasa - First met Tosheden at a Night Blade party where they accidentally broke into a home. Tosheden seemed friendly and laid-back. ● Siben Farnesworth - First met Siben at a Night Blade party where they accidentally broke into a home. Siben was the one to realize the mistake they made and seems to have a level head. ● Y'vahri Svikhalsma - Shinra's favorite bartender in the land and dancing instructor. I hadn't really prepared for this yet, alas my vows were true however. She has the resolve to push herself far beyond what her vessel can take. I won't let harm befall such resolve. I had decided that I would do as she asked and disturbed this harsh land. I could feel it start to resonate with my own energy but where? The voice of the land seemed like an echo. As the energy synced with I could feel it opening my aether and increasing it. The feeling was sickening, the allure of power was there but to grasp it and such horrible and, free power... I had done what they had always wanted me to just now. Channel the land and hold onto its energy. Just as before though it is too much. Too great is its overwhelming pressure. I had to release as much of it as I could, and to that end I had channeled it down my sword arm and commited to such a brutal attack you not think it possible.

This... I could use this. I could use this energy to wipe out my foes!

Or so I had thought. After the sword attack it felt like my body had been ravaged. What was worse though in that instant my blade arced out I could've sworn I saw her...

Such tainted power, that so many have died for.

I explained my theory to Umi, she seemed to nod and take mental note. She seems worn out and yet, the stern orders she had given me were met with healing hands. The help to regulate my aether is a gift not many know how to work. I could feel her own energy. I kind and embracing feeling, yet something was there with it. She congratulated me for doing what I could and, I couldn't help but partly feeling like I had not done all I could have. I grasped her hand. A feeling of failing her running through my soul. I heard my name leave her mouth in the such a way I couldn't help but feel like I had failed.

As I turn to stand I released the rest of the aether but, as I did so a familiar scream rang across my mind like a reminder. Surly, I imagined it.

She seems even more worn out from healing me as I turn to look at her. Her hair seeming to glisten amongst the blue crystals. I kneeled next to her as she fiddled with tent poles. It was then that she looked at me with the most saddened face. She held out the tent poles and seemed to ask, much more motion that she needed help. How could anyone deny such a cute expression?

Cute, huh? Is now the time for that?

I quickly helped with the tent and assured her she not worry about such matters. I am here for her now. As I set up the Gardanian Tent I decided to check on her with glimpses rather than stares, or questions. My glances showed me the worn out leader curled up by the tree. This woman will most likely be the death of me. I am however ready to accept that. Her drive is stronger than mine. Which, is more than I can say for most of the world. The world? Who cares about it? She had one thing right, the world doesn't matter. Your loved ones do. Selfish? I don't think so. Life is too short to care about every little thing. For right now this area with her is my world, and so I must defend it.

As I get the tent finished, I went to check where her blanket was. She responded by saying my armor as a pillow would do. She followed this with a kiss upon my cheek. I honestly felt my heart stop for a second before I realized she might as well be sleeping. Still bright red I watched her crawl into the tent rambling on about tomorrows schedule... As I kneeled there trying to recollect my thoughts all I could think about was how hot my face felt. I stood and turned looking at her lying there curled up, ears twitching I decided to not wake her in the search for a blanket and just took off my overcoat, and covered her with it for the night. I sat down at the entrance of the tent and slowly tried to keep watch as sleep crept over me.
