Biography

Many people are intent to sort people into spheres of black and white. Ever leaning on opposite edges of allegiances in a conflict. Volusja is not one of those people. Her kind in Mimir have ever been abandoned by the Wood, living outside of the Green Word in the tundra. Even she cast off that life at the age of twenty, when the Garlean Republic conquered northern Ilsabard.

Volusja would play their game. She followed their rules. When they evolved to become an empire with the destruction of the southern Ilsabardian country of Nhalmasque, she'd learned to pluck valuable machines from the ruins. What was mere scrap to others sold for hundreds of thousands in other countries. The Kingdom of Dalmasca was no exception. Finding ironic solace in the desert city of Rabanastre, she stayed, taking the city name of Sjlfa Silverhail to honor her fallen homeland.

Sjlfa never saw herself as fully Dalmascan, but she considered it a home where Mimir couldn't be. Her loyalty, above all else, was to her race; the Viera. Being a rare kind, she did not find many. That didn't stop her from finding work in mechanical workshops, building and repairing hovercraft and clockwork devices. Her affinity with vehicles had led her to being propositioned to became a mechanic for a hoverbike racing team, the Desert Sapphire Salamanders. Seeing profit on the horizon, she found herself a fool to refuse. What she did not anticipate were her growing feelings for the Seeq pilot named Cheesk.

Peace only lasted so many decades until the Garlean Empire reached for the Kingdom of Dalmasca after claiming Doma. Where Cheesk fled with the Salamanders' gil, never to be seen again, Sjlfa hid out at the Estersands, narrowly avoiding being enlisted for factory work. There, she provided for herself by gathering fallen magitek from battles and selling it back to the Garleans. With the rise of disorganized resistance cells, Sjlfa was convinced to funnel money into one by the former fusilier, Waggi. She was content to stay on the sidelines as an airship mechanic for them until the most recent civil war of Garlemald gave them a chance in the chaos to find profits in the West.

Sjlfa's life forever changed to stumble upon the Viera matriarch Isey and her daughter Bljn, both providing family she never thought she'd have. Though a war was surely brewing in Ilsabard with the death of the emperor, she'd come to accept that home is where the heart is. She would stop at nothing to make sure it and Viera kind are safe.

Personality

Attitude

Calm and cunning, making a deal is her best talent, especially for her and her allies' gain. Her ultimate loyalty lies with the village of Mimir and her race, doing whatever she believes is best to keep them safe.

Sociability

Sjlfa's greatest strength is her patience, even owing it to her strong physical attributes. She doesn't classify herself as a warrior, favoring quick negotiations as opposed to violent solutions. While in Dalmasca, where her xenophobia had waned, her selfishness and bluntness had not. Though not reckless or disobedient, her habit for making risky choices hinders her.

Expressiveness

Normally stoic, Sjlfa follows logic more than anything else. Emotions do not persuade her actions, often making risky decisions simply to favor profit. She keeps to herself and often seems a cryptic individual to deal with, despite speaking plainly.

• In battle situations, Sjlfa can be found summoning her (mostly) faithful Automaton Queen. Oftentimes, she's caught up with its regular maintenance.
