History

Starwind’s story is still unfolding. Much of his past has been forgotten, and as such, he is on a quest for answers. He remembers parts of his life, but not all of it. He knows that he is an adventurer, a mage of up and coming power. He feels his true power and potential may as yet be untapped.

He remembers traveling to Gridania just over six years ago, but he cannot remember why he arrived there, or how. Everything before that is distant, forgotten. His first distinct memory is that after arriving, he was enlisted by the leadership of Gridania to investigate a possible threat of incursion by the Garlean empire. As he traveled the three major city-states of Eorzea upon the behest of the leadership of Griadnia, he expanded his craft, increasing his power of Thaumaturgy and also picking up the Bow. He was soon enlisted in the ranks of the Immortal Flames of Ul’Dah for the services he rendered to that city.

Towards the end of that first year of memory, the Garleans attacked Ul’dah as the moon Dalamund descended. Voidsent began spewing from the Aether crystals, and it seemed as if the sixth era, nay, the world, was at an end. He stood valiantly against the Garlean invaders inside the city itself, but was soon overpowered. He simply did not have the power to stand against their Magitek. Refusing to give up, however, a desperate cry for help was received from the outpost of Camp Drybone outside the city. Starwind, heedless of his own safety, immediately teleported himself directly to the camp. This proved to be a catastrophic error. The camp was overrun with voidsent, and a giant, Cavernous Maw was situated directly over the crystal. Upon feeling his arrival through his use of Aether, the voidsent immediately attacked him from all sides. He was quickly overrun, and his adventure ended in darkness.

Starwind awoke to find himself in the desert of Thanalan, on his way from Drybone to Ul’dah via Chococarriage. Believing himself to have been somehow rescued from his fate, he inquired as to how long he had been out. The man across from him in the carriage looked at him strangely, and said that he did not know what was meant by the question. Starwind then began to take in the surrounding landscape. It seemed…different, but subtle in its difference. Starwind inquired about what the year and era was, and was once again greeted with a pained look from his companion in the carriage. Upon receiving the man’s answer, Starwind was shocked to learn that five years had passed since his fateful encounter at Drybone. He had absolutely no recollection of any time passing between his fall at Drybone and his arrival in this carriage. Not wanting to set the man off any further, he engaged him in idle conversation. They briefly spoke about the current situation in Ul’dah, and the trip remained uneventful with the exception of an apparent routine extortion from some Brass Blade guards from Ul’dah that was mercifully interrupted by the arrival of some Beastmen. The carriage soon arrived at Ul’dah without incident, and Starwind emerged from the carriage, bidding the older man fare well. He then approached the city, intent on reclaiming the details of his past, the last five years, and the rest of his life.
