A descendant of a long-thought lost family of Gelmorran nobles, whose conflict between the noble tenets of her family and her seething rage at Gridania tears away at her very soul.

Appearance

Her dark skin looks unnaturally smooth for someone who spends so much time in the woods. Her clothes for the cities are also much more adequate for her family's former status than their current one. However, in the wilds or during any time she needs to bust out the spear, her armor is made strictly from bones and extremely resistant foliage from monsters she felled. Her otherwise unmarred face is host to two red tattoos which she claims are the tears of Azeyma ("for She cries witnessing the lies of the Wildwood, of course") that run over both her eyes. Her hair is tied in two pigtails with hair buns, a compromise between utility in combat and the poise that her family requires.

History

The Noirets used to be Duskwight nobility. Paragons of Elezen elegance and grace, granting both to all - be they pauper or prince.

This was a long time ago, when Gelmorra was still a city.

As many abandoned the underground to live in harmony with the Elementals, the prestige and influence of the Noirets waned and ultimately vanished, erasing their name from history. They, however, did not lament their loss - that the people could live in the Shroud without being harassed by those pesky Elementals was none of their concern. They enjoyed the underground, and would keep striving within it as much as possible.

They went overground in less than five years, their own numbers decimated by a plague of unknown origins.

Few families remain of the Noirets, and most have lost sight of their lofty ideals. Still, they told the stories of the time where all would admire them for their noble qualities and endeavored to keep those alive within the progeny as much as possible. Those are the few you may find in the cities, where many have abandoned their name and their claim to nobility. However, the main family clung to these more than life itself, as they never became proper Gridanian citizens, nor were they covered by the Pact, they soon found themselves hunted down as mere poachers or traitors if they dared fight back.

It is in the East Shroud, where the Sylphs reside, that Sylvie was born. Keeping far from Hawthorne Hut and the Coeurlclaw poachers, the Noirets would often find themselves trying to uphold their antiquated ideals in a land seeking to eradicate them, and an incident in Sylvie's youth would show this. Fleeing from a battle between the Wood Wailers and the Coeurlclaw, Sylvie's father tripped and accidentally dropped her in front of an ochu, who certainly would not pass up such a wonderful meal.

She was saved by the grace of the Sylphs - they pulled one of their infamous pranks on the ochu, and saved her from certain death. In reward, both family members decided that on a name that honored those who saved their daughter. Often, they received alms in exchange for helping out at the Sanctum of the Twelve, the only place in the East Shroud next to Little Solace where they would not be considered pariahs or worse, killed.

Living in such a hostile environment often made Sylvie lash out against it, which was severely reprimanded by her parents. Lashing out was not the noble way of the Noirets, and they would remind her at all times. During training, she soon found she had an affinity for the lance, and sought to become competent at it beyond all other weapons. The religious education she obtained at the Sanctum of the Twelve also helped her in understanding her own family's traditions, and more importantly, why she chose to bear the Tears of Azeyma and the burden it carries - Looking up to the sun is much more difficult when underground, after all.

Personality

Like many Duskwights, Sylvie Noiret carries a deep grudge against the Wildwood Elezen for obvious racism. Her grudge runs deep - having to run from many Wood Wailers and other forest patrols when their family did nothing wrong got to her, as well as the few interactions not dictated by following the laws of a pact they never agreed with in the first place. The only time she would willingly collaborate with a Wildwood is if it is of absolute necessity to her, and even then, she would have great difficulty in not berating them for just existing.

Other than that, the girl is driven by the truth - refusing to blind her own eyes to it to such a point that she had her face tattooed with a familial symbol stating as such. However, she remains an inexperienced child. One that was trained by the rigors of nature and running from the law, but when it comes to dealing with others, very stunted. She received an education enough that she has literacy and a good enough vocabulary, but the basis of urban interaction are certainly beyond her.
