GENERAL INFORMATION

Syracusa, known to most people simply as "Syra" or "The Canary", is a Limsan-bred streetrat-turned-recon-agent, currently under the employ of the Winter's Wake, an Ishgardian Free Company. She considers herself easily approachable, (though others may have contentions on that subject), and is seemingly always attentive, her sharp eyes and ears picking up on nuances most miss. Outwardly, she is cordial, friendly and even jovial. She is also the new owner of a private tavern bar in the Shroud, which remains unnamed to those who are not told where precisely it is.

APPEARANCE

If a poetic term could be applied to Syra's overall look, it would be that of a smouldering ember of flame and ash. She is sunset and midnight simultaneously, marred by slashes of pink cloud. For the less flowery of notions, she has black hair with just hints of burnt orange, almost as if it had been trimmed with a hot iron rather than scissors. Her skin is a dark chocolate brown, made deeper by years of seaside sun. She rarely wears makeup,but when she does it is simply kohl-rimmed eyes and a wine-red lip stain.
Aspects That Stand Out:
Syra has been told again and again that her eyes are her most striking feature, a unique amber-orange.
Her general posture seems to be eternally lazy in form, but with a practiced poise that could lead to motion at any time.
She has never been one for fancy clothes, and in an environment like Ishgard, this may or may not make her stand out, either as too clean for the scruffy underbelly of the Brume, or far too simple for the heights of the Pillars.

PERSONALITY

L I K E S

Cards. Similarly to people watching, Syra likes using her knowledge of people to create outcomes, most recently at Triple Triad, which she has recently picked up and started learning.
Sprites. For some weird unknown reason, Syra is transfixed by elemental sprites, and will sometimes sit for an hour or longer just watching them shift around.


D I S L I K E S

Deep Water. She knows how to swim, but any water deep enough where she cant see the bottom terrifies her.
Enclosed Spaces. In conjunction with the origin of her fear of deep water, she cannot abide small enclosed spaces such as closets or even tiny inn rooms.

H O B B I E S

People Watching. Syra genuinely finds people interesting, and a large part of her behavior centers around observation of people and their actions.
Sparring. She loves keeping her senses sharp, and part of that is keeping her footwork sharp. She'll almost never say no to a decent sparring match.

S T R E N G T H S

Loyalty. Syra makes acquaintances easily, but doesn't make 'true' friends or relationships easily, but when she does, she is fiercely loyal, nearly to the point of self-detriment.
Light Combat. Syra excels at close combat, using daggers, knives and her hands with decent skill. Her specialty in combat however is throwing knives.

W E A K N E S S E S

Uncouth. Syra grew up in a street environment, and so is clueless and ignorant when it comes to the ideas of nobility and military rank and file.
Stressed. Syra experienced a traumatic series of events in her teenage years, which make her extremely reactive to situations, or people that are similar.

Attention Syra loves being in the thick of things. She won't seek out attention, but will lap it up when it's freely given.
Autonomy. She has experienced a lot of hardship at the hands of others, and seeks to 'be her own boss' and make a name and living under her own .

OOC INFORMATION

Player Note
I am a lady from Canada who has a severe case of alt-itis. I also play Jazira Na'mirai, W'rania Yahn, Hayato Shirogane, Raralia Ralia, and Tarian Nerys. I typically stick to NA evening and weekend hours for RP and content.
Personal RP Limits
I typically play characters with complex and interesting backgrounds, and I have no issues with having my characters be injured, traumatized or otherwise, as I believe this makes them more 'real' and in fact easier to play because they develop precepts and behaviours related to those events.
I will play I will generally play good or neutral aligned characters, at first anyway. I will not set out to make my characters evil, but if, for example, they experience events that could cause a traumatic/psychotic break, I will at least consider the possibility and work through it that way.
I won't play I will not play 'muahahaha lookit me I'm edgy and evil' type characters, as I find them flat and unimaginative, and they tend to peter out and become obsolete without direction.

This character does engage in intimate relationships, but I personally will not RP that kind of thing with someone I am not already familiar with on an OOC level. Sorry!
I will not RP any sort of personal assault or violent acts outside of typical combat. I will discuss OOC events and write a results 'montage' in order to react to it appropriately

CHARACTER TIDBITS

Potential Plot Hooks
Syra is typically in Limsa Lominsa, either watching the market district, working at the Drowning Wench, or generally walking the length between the Coral Tower and the Aftcastle. When she is not there, she can be found in the Brume or the Crozier in Ishgard, usually gathering information by people watching and 'making friends'. She's fairly easy to approach and strike up a conversation with. Barring those two locations, she also frequents the various wards of the Lavender Beds and occasionally the various areas of La Noscea.
Due to past events, Syra has an unusually vitriolic hatred of pirates. Involve her in any anti-piracy plotlines you like!
I will gladly get in on plotlines that involve recon/intel gathering and scouting missions where there is not a lot of combat expected.


Character Lore Adherence
I stick to current lore as close as humanly possible, to the point where I will not use the 'Job' classes for my characters. Syra is not a ninja, she is definitively a rogue with no Doman training. I limit her to 'human' levels of aether use and abuse, and she suffers traditional consequences for over-exertion. As far as healing goes, I will RP magical healing as approximately halving traditional healing time.
