Biographical

Name: Tayang Bayaqud

Nickname(s): Yaya

Age: Early 20s

Nameday: 17th Sun of the 3rd Umbral Moon

Sexuality: Homosexual

Guardian: Dusk Mother. Though she acknowledges the deities of Eorzea she prefers to stick with the guardian she grew up with.

Appearance

Hair: Short and white, with some black around the edges, and ever so slightly frames her face

Eyes: Her limbal ring is red with a nigh unnoticeable pink tint, and the rest of her iris is a pale yellow

Body: Tayang is slightly taller than an average Xaela female, but other than being a touch more muscular, she is overall as petite as most Au Ra (compared to other races at least). Her scales are a beautifully glossy black, and she is quite prideful of how they go with her tanned skin. Though not as noticeable, Tayang is also fond of the many freckles that dot her face, where scales do not touch, as well as the occasional scars that can be found across her body from her youthful adventures. Her horns curve forward and sit in front of her face, and are usually quite sharp due to an odd quirk of hers.

Personality

Overview: Back when she lived with her tribe, just about everyone had heard of her, if not directly heard her mouth. As they knew her, Tayang was confident, if occasionally boastful, and was never afraid to speak her mind, even if only the winds were listening. Though her temper was fearsome few had the displeasure of knowing it, as Tayang was simply too playful to get upset; an offense against her friends was more likely to attract her ire than an insult towards her self. Often found lounging about or wandering seemingly aimlessly, Tayang would come off as lazy, but she was always raring to take on new challenges or lend a helping hand where need be. Her simple love of nature and all that was in it was cultivated by her mother, and led to a fascination with the entirety of the world. Though despite her eagerness for new experiences and new knowledge, studying and non-fiction reading never truly appealed to her; her mother's beautiful dance-based storytelling and experience based learning practically ruined all quiet study for Tayang.

Now that she has been forced into a new land, with her former friends and family far behind her, a stranger may look upon her and imagine a timid, quiet Au Ra. Though natural caution whispers to her, it is only by wish of not causing a ruckus with the locals that Tayang doesn't bounce around the streets as loud and free as she would have at home. It certainly doesn't take a lot to break this hushed façade though; often a poor hapless fool will ask for the time and end up having to hide away under a bridge to escape the curious attentions of this Au Ra. Though Tayang occasionally thinks to be careful, she can't deny herself and will inevitably try to make friends as quickly as she can with anyone who'll give her the time of day, as being alone isn't something she is used to and is definitely not something she is very fond of. And once she's made a friend it would take almost a calamity to separate Tayang from them or to ruin that friendship, due to her trusting and friendly nature.

History

Tayang was born the youngest daughter to a beautiful Xaela storyteller of the Bayaqud tribe, and her 4th mate. She was raised to be strong, happy, healthy, and kind, and to spread these traits to the people she met. While some of her siblings had interests in meeting other tribes or becoming matrons of the Bayaqud, Tayang was more interested in one day exploring the entirety of Hydaelyn. Despite the fact that in her bloodline the youngest daughter always followed her mother to become a storyteller, she wanted to feel, smell, and truly experience what pictures in the books of one of her fathers had shown her.

One day, many years after she had decided how she hoped to live, Tayang was given the opportunity to taste that life when she was tasked by one of the elders to go to Doma with a handful of other Bayaqud youths, and retrieve some important items. There was no hesitation on her part, and as soon as she could she received the blessings of her parents, as well as a little spending money, said goodbye to her siblings and friends, and gathered with the others to prepare. The journey was long and tiresome, but the excitement that burned in her heart powered her through it all; there was also a little power in the thought of coming home to her siblings and showing them the amazing things she had brought back from Doma. However, when they arrived they were not prepared for the tense airs that hung over the city. The group was denied access to many of the items on the list given to them by the elders, and so they were forced to stay until the strange embargo had been lifted.

Rebellion was on the mind of nearly everyone in Doma, whether it was tinged with excitement or apprehension. It may have been the only time Tayang was silent and did not wish to interact with the people; everyone was afraid, and everyone was tense. Finally, the day came when the group was desperate to be home, and only a little dissent was needed to start their journey anew. But alas, their tension was not the only one at its breaking point. Doma was destroyed so easily, it reminded Tayang of when she had crushed a bug while kicking stones out of boredom. She wont talk about what she saw there, other than her own fear and anger, as she does not believe her storytelling great enough to show the proper respect for those who lost their lives that day.

In the chaos Tayang was separated from the rest of the group, and hasn't seen any of them since. Alone and more confused than she had ever been, she was forced to flee not only Doma, but Garlemald as well, following what felt like a tide of refugees in the hopes of ending up with at least her life. After weeks had passed, and finally there was quiet, Tayang felt as if she had just been pushed over a waterfall, and was now drifting in a quiet stream. She was young, hopeful, but not stupid: she couldn't go back for her friends or her family, not as she was, not as a possible target for the Garlean Empire. Tayang was stuck on the other side of the waterfall. All that she had left was a small worn bag that held no more than 10 gil and a scarf her mother had given her to keep from losing strength on her journey. If that was all she had, that was all she had to lose, and yet so much more to gain. She did not want to be thrust into adventure so soon, and especially not in the manner she had been, but Tayang knew she had no choice but to start her life now, and do as any great adventurer and amass... something. Not infamy, nor kills, but an adventurer that had amassed a hundred lifetimes' of stories. While of course she would have to acquire the gil necessary to fund an excursion back to the Garlean Empire and back to her tribe, returning with no knowledge to show for all her pains was nearly as bad as not returning at all.

Present

Tayang decided to make Gridania her temporary base of operations, hoping to improve the lance skills she had built up with the warriors of the Bayaqud, and though the frequent raining is unfamiliar to her, the beauty of the land helps keep her spirits high. Working with the Gridanians she hopes to fill her mind and her pockets. But even those foreign to Eorzea know about the great, wealthy hub that is Ul'dah, and once she's a little more well off Tayang intends to make the shimmering city her home, where she can rub elbows with the elite and trade stories with the traders. For now she contents herself with hopping between all the City-States, giving aid when requested and learning new skills for both fun and necessity.
