Physical Description

Tyll has somewhat dusky skin, green eyes, and long blond hair.

Personality

Tyll is a very kind Miqo'te woman. Still scarred from when she left the Dark Moon Clan, Tyll will do anything to protect her family, whether it be from the Dark Moon, the Garleans, or anyone else.

History

A Dark Moon Kit

Tyll was born into the evil and piratical Dark Moon Clan. Her mother was the Matron of the Starr family, and she quickly took to the scheming and plotting that was Dark Moon life, along with her rival Mira Moone. This all changed when Tyll was fourteen. Her father refused to mate with another Dark Moon female, and was executed as a result. Heartbroken, Tyll and her mother fled the clan, never to return.

Settling in Limsa

After leaving the Dark Moon Lair, Tyll and her mother settled in Limsa Lominsa, where Tyll's mother took odd jobs to keep food on the table.

When Tyll came of age, she joined the Arcanist's Guild. She quickly established herself as an up-and-coming arcanist, and was soon taking to the seas in the ship that she had fled the Dark Moon in, now refit and renamed the Sea Sprite.

Tyll's Crusade

While working for the Arcanist's Guild, Tyll made it her personal mission to drive the Dark Moon from Lominsan waters. Along with Maelstrom recruit W'leo Tia, she used the Sea Sprite to take on the Dark Moon. Though the Lominsan vessels were simply not fast enough to catch a Dark Moon cutter, the Sea Sprite, being a refitted Dark Moon cutter itself, was. It took years, but eventually the Dark Moon were driven out of Limsa Lominsa and its waters.

However, while Tyll was off on her crusade, her mother passed away. Tyll was now the last Starr.

Meeting Ana'li

With her crusade completed, Tyll went back to a normal life. She still worked at the Arcanist's Guild, and would also work for the Maelstrom when they needed her. It was on one of those missions that she met the adventurer Ana'li Qozu, leader of the Starlight Company. As Tyll and Ana'li worked together, they grew closer, fell in love, and eventually married.

Life and Loss

Tyll continued her work for both the Arcanist's Guild and the Maelstrom, and Ana'li continued his adventuring, even after Tyll became pregnant with her and Ana'li's kit. Their daughter Ayu was born without incident, and a year later Tyll became pregnant once more. But before she could give birth, tragedy struck: Ana'li died from an infected wound that he had sustained while adventuring. Their son Tyll'a was born without incident, but he would have to grow up without a father.

Rise of Mimikani

Now having to raise two kits on her own, Tyll continued working at the Arcanist's Guild, sometimes bringing the newborn Tyll'a to work with her. It was during one of these times that she started a routine Carbuncle summoning. However, unbeknownst to her, a Dark Moon spy had sabotaged the ritual, and instead of a Carbuncle, the voidsent Mimikani had been summoned. Tyll and the other arcanists managed to banish the voidsent, but not before Mimikani had started draining the newborn Tyll'a's aether. Though the arcanists were able to save the kit's life, they were only able to slow the drain, not reverse it.

Calm Before The Storm

The years following the voidsent incident went by quickly. Both of Tyll's kits were growing up quickly, and though Ayu had become a popular girl, Tyll'a was not so lucky. Because of Mimikani's drain on his aether, Tyll'a was unable to use magic, even though the rest of his family could, and was mercilessly bullied as a result. Though Tyll tried to protect her son from his tormentors, she could only do so much.

When Ayu came of age, she traveled to Gridania to study conjury. This was the last time Tyll would see her daughter alive.

Calamity

The Garlean Empire marched on Eorzea, and the banners of the three Grand Companies were raised to fight them. This, of course, ended in the Battle of Carteneau, where many on both sides were killed, both in the battle and the Calamity that followed.

Ayu was one of them. When she heard the news, Tyll was distraught.

Eight Years At Sea

Tyll had very little time to mourn the death of her daughter before she was called into action. A Dark Moon cutter had been spotted, and the Sea Sprite was needed to deal with it. What was supposed to take only a few weeks ended up taking eight years. At times during those years, Tyll was almost ready to give up. Only thoughts of Tyll'a, who she would hopefully one day be able to go home to, kept her going. After eight long years at sea, Tyll was finally able to return to Limsa Lominsa. And when she returned to the Arcanist's Guild, she was not prepared for what she saw.

Tyll'a was there, asking for help in finding his own son. Tyll was happy to be a grandmother, and even though she had just returned, Tyll set out with her son, headed for Doma.
