Character
General
R’theqe Matoi was born on the 21st sun of the 3rd Umbral moon. R’theqe lived a pretty simple life, being the second oldest sibling living with his mother and father. After dabbling in the art of the pugilist, it dawned on him that he had a natural affinity with archery, taking after his father. He has a free spirit, and lives life the way he wants to.
He can mostly be found drinking his days away and gambling in the drowning wench, located in Limsa Lominsa. There, he earned the infamous nickname “Jax”. He was known to always blow his money away gambling in a game of Jacks. When he isn’t losing bets, he can be found taking jobs hunting monsters or diving into dungeons, his true happiness.
R'theqe is smart, despite his behavior. He enjoys reading about lore's and legends of various places. He has oft been told to go seek out Sharlayan, but refuses with each suggestion.
Appearance
Clocks in about 5'8 160 pounds. R’theqe’s demeanor always came off rather lackadaisical, as if he had naught care in the world. He has a scar on the bottom left of his cheek, and when asked about it’s creation, simply answers with “sometimes the tongue is sharper than the blade”. His hair is naturally long, flowing somewhere just over his shoulder. Though, one would not notice, since he constantly keeps his hair tied up with a bandana. He is too proud to cut it off, yet too lazy to keep it tidy. He is proud of his stubble of a beard growing on his chin. In terms of facial hair, puberty came a little late, so when this gem sprouted he was filled with joy. His voice is scratchy, and leans toward a higher pitch. His tone is always relaxed, and every word is laced with sarcasm.
He is normally seen wearing a ragged trench coat with boots. While hunting the more serious of monsters, he can be seen wearing the outfit of a company he used to be apart of. Though, he isn’t against wearing whatever he has to for protection in order to survive.
R’theqe’s slim yet toned physique allows him to have water like maneuverability on the battle field, while at the same time taking moderate damage if it so happens
Personality
R’theqe is a very calm, relaxed, and a laidback individual. The tone of his voice never reaches to a scream. His first language is sarcasm, almost always trying to use his wit instead of his fists to get through a situation. R’theqe is seen as someone who never really aspires to have big dreams. He adores the simple things in life, and doesn’t fancy working too hard.
R’theqe believes in one thing: freedom. He wishes for everyone to simply do what they will, what they hearts desire. He doesn’t view life as “right” or “wrong”, simply what is and what isn’t. Although he believes no one to be right or wrong, he doesn’t necessarily agree with what they are doing. He also believes that people shouldn’t do things without “consequences”. “To every action, there’s a reaction”
R’theqe is loyal to any friends he make (albeit few), and his family, above all else. He will step in to protect them at a moments notice, without hesitation. His ideals of “freedom” become very null in void when it comes to his siblings. He normally butts in, trying to run their life, thinking he is acting as a father figure.
R’theqe isn’t too close with his siblings, but does see them every once in a while. He would show that this doesn’t bother him too much, but if one were to get close to him, they would know this isn’t always the case. He doesn’t always share his feelings, dodging any question pertaining to them.

History/Timeline
Childhood
R’theqe was born second out of all the siblings. His childhood was pretty simple. It was his mother, his father, his sisters, and himself. He had always felt somewhat out of place, being the only male sibling, but he never hated them for it. Although, that feeling drove him to leave for U’ldah at the age of 12, in hopes of becoming a pugilist. He quickly learned that he was unable to take the hits he was trying to dish out, so instead faltered back to his roots: the bow. He would learn to master it, but unlike most people, not from the archery guild in Gridania, but a lone archer he found traveling U’dah. The archer agreed to train him, if he became somewhat of his squire.
Adolescence
R’theqe finished his training around the age of 16. He enlisted himself into the ranks of the Immortal flames, hoping to replicate his mother’s enlisting in the Maelstrom. Although, unlike his mother he found he did not have the same passion for following under an army. Obeying someone’s command without question did not bode well with him. He left after a year, and picked up the habit of taking on bounty jobs for monsters. He thought the experience was grand: stalking prey, learning their lifestyle, to eventually use his knowledge against them and take them down.
He would later join a company who primarily focused on hunting monsters and dungeon diving.
Adulthood
R’theqe would eventually make his way back to Limsa to visit his family, when the calamity hit. He waited for his parents to return home from the battlefield, but only him and his siblings stood in the home when it was all over. R’theqe was distraught with regret, wishing that he had spent more time around his family before the tragedy. He spent the following weeks searching the field where the battle took place (most of the time drunk) hoping, believing that his parents were still there, unconscious under a pile of dirt. He grew to spend less and less time at home with his sisters, and more time in the Wench, until eventually he would move out, and see them close to twice a year.
To this day, R’theqe often puts all of his resources into finding his parents, hoping his sisters are doing the same.
