About Me
Hi! My name is Marin. I'm one of those lady gamer things people always go on about and I happen to also be an insufferable dork. My days consist mostly of socializing with friends online, dabbling in art and occasionally playing video games or roleplaying. I've been roleplaying for like--ever. I'm more of a Nintendork than a hardcore Sony fan, but I've had some previous exposure to Final Fantasy in the form of Final Fantasy IV, Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VIII. It's hard to say which was my favorite, as it's been a very long time since I've played 4 or 8.
Some of my favorite character-related tropes are Girly Bruiser[1], Kicking Ass In All Her Finery[2], Robot Girl[3], Team Mom[4] and the classic trope Magical Girl[5].
Some of my favorite video games are Super Smash Bros 4, Team Fortress 2, Star Wars Jedi Knight Jedi Academy, Pokemon, Puyo Puyo, 3D Zelda and Mega Man. Speaking of video games, some of my favorite characters from videogames are Princess Peach[6], Raffine[7], Ashe[8], Candice[9] and Iris[10]; though I will note that Dawn has my favorite pokemon protagonist design. (She's a dork, just like me!~) My favorite game genres are shooters, RPGs and Action-Adventure games. I play RPGs for the story and everything else pseudo competitively.

Roleplaying Style
In the below tables, I will be using an exerpt from Eva's Role-Play Handbook[11] to give examples of where I lie along the Light-Heavy RP line. For Mature RP I will be using a table of my own design. I will bold the table cells that apply to me. If multiple cells are bolded that means both cells apply to me to some degree and that I'm actually somewhere between.
| A light RPer might... | A heavy RPer might... |
|---|---|
| enjoy a more casual style with less emphasis on detail or continuity | enjoy a more immerse level of RP and carefully track their character's story |
| make up their stories/characters on a whim or as they go without much regard for the game's lore or past events | pay close attention to the game's lore so their stories and characters don't conflict with it |
| use a character's class to help define their character | choose to define their character purely through their story, perhaps even ignoring their in-game class all together |
| make use of in-game mechanics (attack moves, consumables, gear, etc) in their stories | may forgo any of the in-game mechanics to tell their stories, perhaps to the point of ignoring their character's in-game class |
| prefer a more flashy or dramatic style of storytelling | prefer a more "everyday" style that focuses more on the routine life of their character than regularly occurring grandiose events |
| incorporate elements from other games (hearthstones, aliens, Chuck Norris, etc) or even real life (modern technology, religions, etc) into their story | only use those elements that they could find evidence of within the game itself |
| have their character appear wherever/whenever convenient | put a fair bit of effort in keeping track of when and where their character would be at a given time to include tracking travel times where applicable |
| view RP as something "extra" to do when they aren't involved in another aspect of the game's play (raiding, pvp, questing, etc) | view RP as the sole reason to play the game |
| keep their character consistent so it's easier to play over time | have their character progress and grow over time as part of their story |
| A Non-Mature RPer might... | A Mature RPer might... | An Erotic RPer might... |
|---|---|---|
| feel uncomfortable partaking in or watching RP containing mature themes | enjoy mature themes as part of their RP, but may not be interested in RPing out sexual things | Fully play out sexual roleplay with other consenting individuals |
| break or bend character/lore to avoid feeling uncomfortable when confronted with mature themes | prefer that mature themes add to their immersion by complimenting lore or the characters involved | break or bend character/lore to more easily indulge in their choice of pleasure |
| prefer not to acknowledge mature themes when they are brought up by others In-Character | prefer to treat mature themes as "canon" even when RPing in private, reacting to it immersively when it is brought up | prefer to consider their mature/sexual "non-canon", and keep mention of it out-of-character or private. |
| have no interest in romance, or even find romance distasteful | view romance as an immersive first step for many characters relationships | forego romance to more quickly indulge in their pleasure of choice. |
| prefer to avoid acknowledging relationships when possible, not much caring whether they are meaningful story elements | prefer that a character's relationships be meaningful to their stories and contribute to character development | prefer to treat their character's relationships as inconsequential and replaceable. |
