♦ General
(IN PROGRESS) Ghoa was born and raised as a member of the Bairon, Xaela tribe, native to the Nahamaa desert, just south of the Azim Steppe, where she, like the rest of the members of her tribe, trained from a very young age. to become experts of survival in unforgiving, arid climates. To compliment her extensive knowledge of desert survival, Ghoa is equally an expert in the art of Thaumaturgy, and when in her element, is well known as a force to be reckoned with.
At age eighteen, Ghoa gave birth to her son, Erden, in whom the father was her childhood sweetheart, Kadan, that she had been courting for roughly five years prior. In the spirit of the traditions of the Bairon clan, she and Kadan raised Erden to be hardy, resourceful, and self sufficient, as they were. Although he was just a child, Erden was a natural learner of survivalism in his native climate, just like his parents, and even showed an inclination for thaumaturgy like his mother, in whom he favored most. Ever a curious child, Erden yearned to explore the reaches of the Nahamaa desert. So, one night when Ghoa and Kadan were sleeping, Erden wandered off into the night. Upon waking the next day, Ghoa and Kadan were horrified to discover that their son had gone missing. While the two were understandably concerned, they had faith that Kadan had not come to any major harm. After all, the boy was resilient. Surely he would likely do well for himself on his own for some time, but, for how long?
Ghoa, along with her partner, immediately ventured out to find their missing son, along with their dear friend, Khabul, and Kadan's younger sister, Ebegei. They followed his trail for many malms north until encroaching upon Dotharli territory. There, upon narrowly avoiding a skirmish, they questioned the Dotharl, in hopes that at least one of them had seen the likes of their son. One of the Dotharl had mentioned that they had recently witnessed the children of their tribe chase off a young Xaela boy who approached them, into the east, with their spears. The Dotharl described the boy as having black hair, yellow eyes, with dark, brick red skin. Certain that this child was Erden, Ghoa, headed east, where they soon picked back up on his trail.
By relying on the word of witnesses all across the steppe who had witnessed their son, Ghoa and the others managed to stay on Erden's trail until traveling to the East Othard Coastline. There, Ghoa and the others crossed paths with a small group of inebriated Garlean soldiers, who were supposed to be on patrol. Upon cathing eye of the four wandering Xaela, the Garleans decided to make a contest of who could maim the most "savages" and attacked. Armed to the teeth with magitek weaponry, the Garleans had Ghoa and the others seemed to be outmatched. However, the Garleans severely underestimated Xaela tenacity in their drunken stupor, and were defeated. Victory did not come at a cost, and to Ghoa's misfortune, her long time lover had been gravely wounded. She, and the others did their best to tend to Kagan and his wounds, but alas, none of them were skilled healers. Kagan died in Ghoa's arms, and made her promise that one day, she would find their son, and return him to their home.
Following Kagan's death, Ghoa returned to her tribe and delivered the tragic news to the others. Afterwards, she fell into a brief period of melancholy, but did not wallow in her grief for long, before making the decision to begin training to participate in the trial of Bardam's Mettle. Her ultimate goal would be to tame a Yol, to aid her in her travels, during her search for her lost son. Two of her tribesmen agreed to accompany her on her search. Khabul, a childhood friend of Ghoa's, and Ebegei, sister of Kagan. The three Xaela of the Bairon tribe made their way to Bardam's mettle, and began their trial. (insert part about how Ghoa finds sparrow pet, and make bird conparisons involving size and unexpected smol bird) Eventually, the three succeeded, and Ghoa managed to tame a Yol to call her own, calling him Shuurga, meaning storm.
During their time there, the three discovered a variety of rare, and interesting treasures, including weapons. There was one in particular that caught Ghoa's eye. It was a tome, with an ornate cover, but it's pages were filled with strange, geometric patterns like Ghoa had never seen before. Fascinated by the tome, she decided to take it to Reunion, where hopefully one of the merchants would know more of it's purpose. Upon arriving to Reunion, Ghoashowed the tome to a merchant who was familiar with magic items, who actually sold other tomes and grimoires with pages full of patterns almost identical to the one Ghoa had come into possession with. The merchant told her of mages that used tthe grimoires to summon creatures that did their bidding for them in battle. Fortunately, for Ghoa, a Hyur who hailed from a far away land approached the merchant, and asked to look at their selection of grimoires. After the Hyur inquired about the tomes, he eventually bought one. Ghoa, whose curiosity was on the verge of consuming her, naturally asked the mage if they would be so kind to do a demonstration. Using the tome, the mage summoned an unusual creature, that they referred to as a carbuncle. Having a soft spot for animals, Ghoa was instantly infatuated with the creature, and begged the mage to teach her how to summon one. The mysterious mage told Ghoa of a guild in a far away city named Limsa Lominsa, full of other mages dedicated to this type of magic, known as Arcana. Naturally, as Ghoa and her companions were still scouring the lands to find her long lost son, and had already combed nearly every nook and cranny of the far east in search of him, decided to travel to Limsa Lominsa, to look for him there, and to pursue the study of Arcana. If Erden was still out there, maybe by now, it would not be an outlandish to assume that he had wandered that far away from home.
The band of Xaela took a ship off of the coast of Othard, and upon arriving in Limsa Lominsa, Ghoa began her pursuit of studying Arcana. There, she also found employment working in the customs office. Despite initial doubts from others, she found satisfaction, success, and a modest means of income. Eventually, after some time had passed since joining the guild, she learned how to summon different types of Carbuncles, that served different purposes, and surprisingly, her mastery of Arcana surpassed her understanding of Thaumaturgy. Once she established a bit of a reputation for herself in La Noscea, Ghoa began mingling with a handful of Free Companies, until she ultimately found her place as a high ranking member of the relatively small FC known as "Overgeared", which is made up of a few close friends Ghoa met upon her arrival in Limsa Lominsa. Joining was such a benefit to Ghoa financially, that she made the decision to move out of her room at the inn, and purchased her very own apartment in Mist. Along with hiring a handful of housekeepers, who are also members of the Bairon tribe, and an unusually short Namazu sidekick, (remember to name him) solidifying her status a modestly influential resident of Limsa Lominsa.
Ever since that day of arriving in Limsa Lominsa for the first time, Ghoa has been traveling back and forth throughout the Far East, and even Eorzea in search of her son. Ghoa, and her two companions travel from place to place on the back of her Yol, in which she tamed during her trial at Bardam's Mettle. She has even purchased a chocobo, which acts as a backup mount, and battle companion, named Sarangerel, meaning moonlight, in which she tends to along with the Yol. She has become a thoroughly seasoned adventurer in the days since she left the Nahamaa desert in search of her son, but her motivations have remained the same. While Erden's trail has long since been lost ever since their encounter with the Garleans, Ghoa and her two friends have been determined to find him, and bring him back home where he belongs. While it may seem that Ghoa has forgotten about her son with how busy she keeps herself, she has not given up hope, despite how seldomly she mentions his name nowadays.

♦ Appearance
With dark, brick red skin, standing at 5'2.4", Ghoa is rather tall for a Xaela woman, with the typical thin, lean, physique that is all too common for female Au Ra. For a time, she had long, sleek, jet black, wavy hair, but shortly before the events of "Endwalker" she began wearing it cut into a layered bob, with a braid on the left side, tied with a bow. Her horns point forward, and perfectly frame her rounded, heart shaped face, with big, bright, golden orange eyes, and yellow limbal rings. The scales on her face cover her cheeks, the bridge of her nose, and a significant portion of her forehead. She has a long, thin tail, with a barbed tip.
Ghoa prefers subtle makeup, as opposed to bold face paint, and is usually seen wearing the darkest brown lipstick, to match her meticulously blended eyeshadow. She wears two small, plain, silver rings around the tips of her curled horns. Although she resides currently within Limsa Lominsa, she still proclaims herself a proud member of the Bairon tribe, and is still very much in touch with her roots. Ghoa typically wears a variety of clothes inspired by the traditional fashions of the numerous Xaela tribes found within the Azim Steppe, and Nahamaa desert, along with the occasional garment she picked up at the market, or during her travels. Ghoa also frequently wears body paint in various colors, and patterns.
♦ Personality
Despite her impatient nature, brashness, and often excessive use of coarse language, Ghoa is actually very caring, and kind hearted. Due to her nomadic upbringing, she can come off as incredibly strange and backwards at times, but many find it to be endearing. She is aloof, and poor at initiating conversation, as she always seems to be preoccupied with something. Many things are still very foreign to Ghoa, and because of this, she is very easily amused. Ghoa is incredibly emotional, but seldomly expresses her feelings openly. She rarely confides in anyone besides Khabul, and Ebegei, when she experiences any semblance of inner turmoil. She is reluctant towards romance, due to the lingering wounds that still ache from the death of Kadan, and gets very upset with people who try to persistently flirt with her. She has a soft spot for animals, is easily distracted by anything she perceives to be cute, and often percieves creatures that others find to be intimidating as adorable. Beccause of this, it comes as no surpised that Ghoa took an immediate interest in summoning Carbuncles, and studying Arcana. While she is drawn to almost all types of animals, she especially has an affinity for birds, the Namazu, and Carbuncles.
Combat
Ghoa has a strong foundation in thaumaturgy, but she does have a reputation for dabbling in a healthy variety of martial disciplines. Currently, her passion lies in her desire to master Arcana. She is also frequently sighted performing conjury, and has been known to fight with a Macuahuitl, and shield.
