Zaroessill admires intellect in all its forms: musical, practical, kinesthetic, artistic, and literate. He entertains arts and routinely will reference experiences in balls or banquets and other grand socialties. A suprising optimistic attitude keeps him constantly pestering others for stories or even goading into duels to learn behaviors or more combat methods. He holds a generous concern for well being of others, physical or emotional and prescribes treatment often in odd but fulfilling methods. Most all who know him must endure the mystery given by how ardent he holds his own identity a confidentiality given the condition of his grant. He finds a near instant connection to his company and attempts to learn more about mostly anyone from any given profession or background, even being so far as becoming nosey.

Z may be considered short for one related to a Highlander, with features a bit more rounded and softer to that of a midlander. His skin is a lighter pale signaling he is from the Northern areas of Aldenaard. He's usually armored in his brass-colored plating mixed with a formal coat. Thick denim material and a wool shirt is worn when he goes sporting: fishing, hunting, or stalking game outside his usual residences.
Face features a strong nordic nosebridge for heating air on the inhale. His hair is usually well groomed leading down to his two famous sideburns that are held in a modest self-pride, and usually considered his most striking feature. Crimson eyes dot above the full cheeks that suggest an odd geneology.

Bladed Fighting
Zaroessill's combat methods can be related to the Landsknechts of medieval Germany. He favors heavy polearm-like greatswords named zweihanders battling many pikeman and dragoons as part of his tutellage from his mentor, Sir Xionus. He's not to be found without an arming sword at his hip and can often be found walking in his heavy plate armor even in the most colloquial of situations, suggesting he wore it often enough to the point of comfort.
Abyssal Magicks
Seldom spoken and even less practiced, Zaroessill studied the art of hemomancy under his mentor and closest friend, Sir Xionus Effiri that only became more seasoned when his dying mentor passed on the soulstone and the memory of his mentor's practice. Z's ability to manipulate blood once freed from the flow and pressures of an individual's heartbeat extends to the ability of morphing it into crystalline or fluid structures, often siphoning it from battlefields into a loose sphere: nature's greatest volume figure with least surface area.
Blood is often used to perform dialysis or mend or completely stop bleeding wounds either on himself or another individual by diverting the flow of blood back into their vessels after coagulating the site of bleeding immediately. The force of his aether can also project spheres of blood as hard-impacting concussive balls or crystalline lances he can hold and launch himself.
Invoking shadows of his personality as other Dark Knights perform can lend him the ability to fight on through grievous blows and reduce incoming damage by allowing strikes to shatter the tangible constructs of his personality and self.
Toolkit
Zaroessill carries with him a variety of tuning forks for exorcising voidkin out of their glamours or inhabited corpses. After defeating their physical forms he snares their souls inside of phylacteries to avoid them returning to the voidal plane. Every sample is sent back to Sharlayan with adequate compensation, leading him to sometimes actively hunt for voidkind and attempt their seizure.
His loaned visor-mask utilizes existing Imperial tech that searches for signature of aether in an area and is attuned to pick up aether of the Void. Residues either left on an individual or a place the voidkin or void mage had performed a spell or sat too long. The catch is that he has to have his visor set to this frequency to pick up and even sense their residues. The mask also may emit a frequency to disrupt the Siren's Song that might otherwise dominate his mind though he has trained to resist lesser spells. The discovery of Alaggan voice recording allowed for the visor to be pre-recorded with simple phrases to be set to various language, and also recognize spoken word of another language to read out, in a monotone voice also pre-recorded, back to Zaroessill. The visor is his most valuable posession, with his most prized being his mentor's longsword.

Hyuran Versatility
Z retains the nimbleness of a Hyur allowing for precise, surgeon like sword blows and lunges while boasting the third highest average strength of the races behind Roegadyn and Au Ra.
Stronger Bones
Being a naturally thicker boned Hyur had combined pragmatically with blood magicks that have toughened the marrow inside his bones to produce the highest quality blood cells by magical boon as well.

Pain Tolerance
Zaroessill underwent several rounds of self mutilation in order to better practice the art of hemomancy. Cuts had been made often deep and lacerating that overtime had built resistance to scratches and cuts in a fight.
Mental Fortitude
A chapter in Z's instruction over the mastery of the self was to be placed in a chamber with souls of succubi and siren bound to bodies that attempted to flay his mind or sing a song demanding their release. Attempts at mind flaying or reading by succubi or void mages will be met with an open channel with Z cognizant of their intrusion, and maybe even attempt to wrack their mind with images of the tormented voidkin in his homeland's labs.
Disease
Zaroess has exposed himself to a multitude of blood-borne illnesses as result of self experimentation with blood and attempt to purify it. His body holds antibodies to most common illnesses as well as more severe diseases. Transfusing blood from one open laceration to the other while boiling its contents and restructuring the denatured proteins is a process that allows for an effective entire circulatory cleanse of his body.

Disregard of Sense of Self
Challenges issued often are accepted and he even is bold enough to take bullets to extremities to take down individuals that may have been disarmed through other means or walked away from. The lack of pain tolerance works against him in this way, leaving a natural obliviousness to being open to attacks that can leave him bed ridden for months. As a medical professional, he will leap in the way of danger of innocents and use his body to protect them and even intervene in dangerous situation that is certain to spell death for a bystander.
Mobility
When Zaroessill is clad in his full plate, his ability to swiftly respond to attacks from multiple angles is reduced. To compensate, he'll often place his back to a wall but multiple assailants coming from many directions provides a difficult challenge.

Zaroesill's family provided a fond and reasonable rearing for Hyur that lived in loose tribes in the Far Reach, hailing from Highland tribes that settled west of Ala Mhigo across the Spine and making it toward the 'old world'. Zaroessill was lent to Sir Xionus at his 8th birthday and taken for near twenty cycles of study and squiring. He'd visited his family every summer afterward until the final five cycles of his life, where he were locked within Ishgard during the Imperial conflict. After Xionus' death, he visited them one last time before chartering a grant to take him to Eorzea to begin a new study in honor of his mentor.

A veteran knight of Ishgard that aged well into his final days. Zaroessill often references his mentor and was person held in the highest regard in his life. Z's mentor was a more stern and disciplined soul that demanded etiquette, prose and posture being a highborne of his society. Passing through the Far Reach on an expedition, he had come across Z and taken the Hyur as a boy back to Sharlayan with willing parents who knew that the life of a squire would better prepare him for a greater life than the humble woods of the Far Reach.
The elder put Zaroess through rigorous education and physical combat. With no heirs, and no interest in returning to his nation full time, the resident of Sharlayan chose the Hyur to be his progeny. The secretive art of performing blood magicks for medicinal use would not be lost, and the knowledge and skill were passed onto an adopted, but nontheless living descendent. Zaroessill were the last to hold his hand before his final breath, and organized an elaborate funeral for his passing.

H I S T O R Y


Birth
Zaroessill is the eldest son of his family that live alone in a lodge in the Far Reach. They hailed from Hyur tribes that settled in the Far Reach under the shadow of the Dravanians that seldom flew down from their mountain homes and into the thick woods. Farmers and chocobo ranching subsists them to the modern era.
Age 8
By age of 8 cycles, Zaroessill found Ser Xionus passed out along a snowy trail and helped the mentor who would forever change his life along to his log cabin. The Andreleus family knew how treacherous the roads were, and watched over the knight recovering from near-frostbite over three suns. He explained his passage was to return from Ishgard to Sharlayan, that had since moved their borders back to their home nation and retreated from the mainland after the Imperial occupation of Ala Mhigo. It was expressed that he had no squire and none to pass on his teachings, and seeing an opportune moment he discussed with Zaroess' family to take the boy back with him to Sharlayan to live an educated and higher quality of life. To Zaroessill's suprise, he would be sent off the next day to journey with the seasoned knight-turned academic to work as a guide to the safer routes to the seas. It would be the last time he'd see his family for an entire cycle, to begin the cyclic visiting between studies the next twenty cycles of his life would live.
Age 8-28
Zaroess' life became one devoted to mastery of the self. Swordplay began almost immediately. The broom and pitchfork were replaced with the wooden blade and eventually steel. His education included the history of Eorza and the downfall of the Allagans, and instruction on the powerful technology that would be at his disposal one day if he chose to be a researcher. Sir Xionus often took Zaroessill back to his homeland of Ishgard to participate in balls and banquets that would teach him highborne etiquette. A topic that did not stick all too well, but kept his tastes for the arts well piqued. In his early adulthood, Zaroessill was exposed to his mentor's mastery of the Abyssal Magicks of the Dark Knights, and learned his mentor was one of a few heretics back in his homeland. A sin that was overlooked by the Sharlayans and viewed as a great benefit for their repertoire of knowledge.
Age 29
On Ser Xionus' deathbed, the old elf gifted Zaroessill his last possession: his Dark Knight's soulstone that carried with it knowledge from both Ser Xionus and his mentor of the mastery of Abyssal magicks and the pursuit of study that lasted two lifetimes to attempt to be able to purfiy living whole blood to be permanently resistant to disease and bone cancer. In his life, Ser Xionus promoted excellent relations between Ishgard's noble caste and Sharlayan and wrote generous volumes on the Dravanian horde for the Sharlayan nation. Zaroess used his mentor's remaining grant money to give him a grand burial as a respected member of his society. The Hyur approached the Circle of Knowing to ascertain a grant to journey into Eorzea and practice his mentor's study. Submitting his hypothesis, he was afforded the chance to leave Sharlayan, never once stopping in his Far Reach home to seek the answer to the ultimate question: could the life fluid of all things ever be manipulated to be permanently resistant to disease and blood borne illness? His oaths as a medical practitioner were taken before his leave, and he set out for Thanalan at once.

Expectations. I am logic driven in my RP. Things my characters do are for IC reasons. I will not RP rape of a character, and ERP scenarios can be FTB'ed on. Don't expect me to mod characters for favors. Content can be ftb'ed on.
Plot-Driven. Stories are the purpose I seek RP. I do give alot of random RP and can be seen making contacts in taverns often.
Lore. I stress lore and will ask for cites or logic explained of anything that I am unfamiliar with. I also tend not to accept 'because magic'.
