Basic Info

Liliette Shizue fancies herself a Voidmath - one who studies and is learned in the ways and means of the void and its denizens. Hailing from an extremely secretive and highly-skilled duskwight clan Coeurvide, Voidmath Shizue has taken to the world rather well, as she should not be anything but prepared after her upbringing. With channeling rod and arcanima picatrix, she'll swallow sludge to transform herself do her level best to make the world - or at least what lies within her sphere of influence - a less awful place.

Appearance & Personality

  • Notably, she has two sets of horns - a forward-curving pair of lower ones, and a backswept rosy black pair above. She's also got claws.
  • Her left eye's rather curiously solid black, save for the golden amber ring inside. Her right eye's relatively normal, comparatively speaking.
  • Her white scales are keeled (at least the large ones framing her brows, back, shoulders, and tail are) and tinged with a pale rosy shade on the edges.
  • Her tail's got spiny, thick, and keeled scales guarding its base, and it's a couple dozen ilms short from as long as she is tall. It's particularly motile.
  • Her hair's more or less the same shade of white as her scales and set in a bobbed fringe cut. The bangs are meticulously managed.
  • She's a little stocky and elongated in build when compared to other raen, thanks to her mixed parentage.

  • She's a quiet sort and is not particularly given to speaking in public settings, unless she recognises someone or is spoken to first.
    • It's not that she's shy, she just figures people have their own things going on and unless they're about to suffer some misfortune without intervention, what business is it of hers?
    • This doesn't prevent her from interacting with strangers, though - if you have something she's made or seem like you could use some help, she'll probably say hello or give it to you.

Biography

The Distant Past

  • Born to an explorer and a law-shirker under quite some duress from the Kiyamura village, Liliette's parents fled Othard going back much the same way the totally not even a little voidsent Vivienne Coeurvide came.
  • Through some contrivance, Vivienne was made scarce before Liliette was born. Given the circumstances, her clanmates in Coeurvide saw fit to adopt Yuukei.
  • Despite the circumstances of her birth and the lives of her parents, Liliette was given few breaks in her upbringing - if one is part of Clan Coeurvide, one must needs do one's part, after all.
  • Vorsaile - her uncle - took her under his wing, at least with regards to learning the basic principles of arcanima and aetherial manipulation passed down within Clan Coeurvide for generations. Apparently showing some talent will do that for you!
  • After an extremely unfortunate incident while hunting, Liliette was made to stay indoors more often than not. Her studies were still required, of course, but practical applications were somewhat denied her.
  • A contrivance was thought up by her clanmates and suggested to her and her (surviving?) mother - something to, ideally, make incidents such as what happened a dozen-odd moons ago less likely.
  • Liliette acquiesced, though being part of a socialist network of highly-skilled duskwight magi and artisans was only so exciting juxtaposed to the tales of the outside world her mother regaled her with.
  • Through much argumentation, effort, sneaking out, and metaphorical pulling of teeth, she was allowed to leave the clan's territory.

Back in the Day - but Not THAT Far Back

  • With her newfound freedom, Liliette took to wandering the world at large, continuing her studies and training rather more directly.
  • As it turned out, the world was considerably different to both the way her clan operated, and the tales her mother had of living in the foothills of Othard.
  • Given her family's reputation and her own alleged duskwight identity, she wasn't particularly well received - not outright attacked, but tersely, tensely, and unpleasantly-treated.
  • On her visits home, she used her clanmates to help turn her findings into actual knowledge.
  • Her skills and loyalties thus tested and proven, it was around this time that she learned the truth of her parentage and some of the secrets of her clan.
    • Also around this time, her (heretofore considerable, but not consuming) interests in occult practises and knowledge skyrocketed, and she ravenously devoured all knowledge she could get her hands on.
  • Convinced that the lesser world would not suffer it or understand, Liliette spent most of her time continuing to wander alone, practising her knowledge and theories and keeping herself going through work as a sellsword and a wandering tinker/provisioner.
    • She wasn't terribly cut out for the salesmanship portions of the latter, having little knowledge of the lesser world's valuation of work and labour.
  • Getting into an altercation with the Serpent Reavers over their right to pillage and murder people caught notice from the Yellowjackets, in turn directing her attention to Limsa Lominsa.
    • During her visits to Navigator's Veil, she discovered it was the least unpalatable of all the nation-states she'd yet visited. The presence of an arcanists' guild helped.
    • Given that she was an ocean and some distance away from home, Liliette opted to make Limsa Lominsa her home away from home, as it would suffer her presence. The skills she'd trained in her years as a wandering tinker helped.

If Not Now, When?

(super low detail :V)

  • She met L'vuqha Qhogif through mutual combat duties for the Maelstorm. The two hit it off rather well, with Vuqha's antics being the perfect counterpart to Liliette's straight man performance.
  • She met Syele Greyashe in the highlands of Coerthas, and they both bonded over antipathy for Ishgard and a zeal for ancient sacrificial rites. The two kept in relatively common contact, thanks to boarding in the same building in Limsa.
  • She met M'rien Tia while she was rooting around for some spices by an oasis in the Sagolii desert. The seeker was ogling some of the U tribe's guards, and she recognised that he was using a thaumaturgical rod she'd made, so they chatted for a little while.
  • She met F'iahro Tia while being creepy observant and watching some of the new recruits at the Aftcastle. F'iahro seemed particularly in need of an uplift, so Liliette instructed one of her retainers to give him a care package. It was apparently well-received.
  • Eventually, thanks to the actions of Lady Yugiri and the appearance of more and other au ra (as well as establishing her own foothold in the world), Liliette stopped lying to her friends and dropped the elaborate transformation her clan had woven over her, revealing that she was a scaly nerd the whole time.
  • Around roughly the same time - thanks to some conversation with her mother and clanmates, Liliette got the idea that she might do well to make her own company - one to embody the blazingly socialist practises of her clan. One to act as a home for those who need it, as aid for any who will take it, disregarding national loyalties and borders and boundaries! Like a voidsent!
    • In a gesture of "wanting to see the registrar's face" and shamelessness, Liliette named her company Voidsent Provisions. She also figured that having her work credit herself and not only the Maelstorm might be nice, for a change.
    • It also helped that Isghard had opened its gates around this time - so having a solid identity for the band of earnest outcasts Liliette had met was a keen idea, she thought.

RUMORS

Some of these rumors are untrue or are greatly exaggerated. Please feel free to add your own rumors under PC!

◢ Common Rumors (Easily overheard)
■ "Liliette Shizue? While you may likely find a finer disciple of the hand for a particular practise, you might not be as likely to find one more generous. All we had to do was ask and she'd outfit most of our recruits for a season." - Maelstorm provisions overseer
■ "It's not the most embarrassing work I've had, peddling Miss Shizue's wares for her on the markets. The quality's fine, more often than not, so at least I don't have to cringe and lie through my teeth if an interested customer shows up. Of course, she could apply herself more, but that's not going to happen." - Ahzu Yuyhami, retainer to Liliette
■ "Don't think she's normal - no one should be able to do that much magic and also be that strong, at least not be that strong and that small." - a passing comment on the results of Liliette's odd external and internal aetherial manipulation
◢ Moderate Rumors (Moderately difficult to overhear)
■ "That Shizue fancies herself a bit of a Voidmath. The way I see it, she probably has more a personal than academic interest..." - library recordkeeper in Limsa Lominsa
■ "Flyin' around on a damned ahriman, twelve forfend!" - a spooked La Noscean farmhand
■ "That's some kind of shapeshifting monster - heard from a partner she was a gods-damned duskwight, then a miqo'te, now... that." - a Sapphire Road marketeer
◢ Rare Rumors (Very difficult or rarely overheard)
■ "I hear that girl's voidsent - or, er. Part voidsent, maybe? I think it's the horns that give it away, yeah?" - some eavesdropper
■ "We've not been able to take action against the Coeurvide as yet, but with their most public 'daughter' being so flagrant, it cannot be that far off." - an anonymous Wood Wailer
■ "I ever tell you the tale I heard about this little demon scalekin in the Shroud? Well, as I heard it..." - an aged teller of tales, telling a spiel about some voidsent someone may or may not have killed in the Shroud

Meeting Friends & Influencing People

Modern Romance Crushes and Crush Accessories
Pals Pals (on opposite day)
Vuqha Qhogif: Through their time together, Liliette and Vuqha have become quite close as friends. Vuqha's taken some pages from the motivated mage-artisan and tried her hand at some constructive labours, and Liliette's tried being less of a stuffy no-fun loner. They might be something more than friends, but Miss Shizue would be the last to tell.
Syele Greyashe: Inauspiciously meeting somewhere in the frozen misery of Coerthas, Liliette wasn't expecting to get along with Syele anywhere near as much as she does. As it turns out, though, they both bonded rather quickly over similar ideals and feelings, as well as the odd mutual goal. The voidmath couldn't be happier to have anyone else as her agent on the ground in her free company.
M'rien Tia: A friendship forged over recognising thaumaturgical rods and mutual disdain for certain sociopolitical and cultural systems of Seeker tribes, tempered by the unrelenting heat of the Sagolii. Liliette's interest is helped by the fact that M'rien is a fairly interesting man in his own right, holding both impeccable style and a dashing air of mystique about himself, in addition to having some fascinating ideas about the way the world works.
F'iahro Tia: Anyone who puts up with random (and somewhat creepy) gifts and accepts a position in your company has got to be all right, right? F'iahro nicely rounds out the trio of Sunseeker miqo'te Liliette is particularly acquainted with, as he also has little to no regard for the cultural system that strangled his tribe. He also has some odd ideas about au ra and horses that she's yet to pry out of him, but she's sure she'll get there some day.
