Basic Info
A young Miqo'te of fair complexion, bearing a lithe athletic frame of above-average height. His hair is black, contrasting with his complexion and his gray eyes. Despite his youth he displays some faded facial scarring, the scar running vertically down from above his right brow down to his cheek particularly jagged and old.
History
W'kai was born as a part of a tribe, a Seeker of the Sun, it was often said that his mother was a Keeper of the Moon though he never discovered if this were the case, it was often used to explain his strangeness. He showed himself to be of unusual character from a young age, resisting the wiles of his elders as well as the company of his fellow tribesmen, preferring a solitary life by choice, though eventually this choice would render him unable to keep cordial relations with his tribe members, as his decision not to speak eventually led to an in-built awkwardness that often left him embarrassed in conversation, and somewhat aggressive in childhood. These issues led to him being bullied, and often outright abused by some of his fellow tribe members, he was often forced to do hard work in the place of others.
From a young age W'kai showed a rather lacking grasp on reality, probably due to his lack of interest in it. Given only to mood swings at first, this eventually developed into seeing things that were not there, and writing entire stories surrounding situations in order to try and make them more interesting to him. Experiences that challenge his perception of reality excite him, especially if they can scare him as he is also quite the adrenaline junkie.
He wasted away much of his childhood simply wandering about in nature, taking naps and hunting the odd animal, and avoiding most all of his duties to his tribe where he was able to. He took a liking to music, and reading texts of artistic nature, as well as experimenting with botany for the sake of using mind-altering substances; but most of all as he grew older the boy came to enjoy martial practice, as little of it as he could get among his tribe, whom largely disliked him.
Eventually there came a time where his stubborn and often spiteful character led to his expulsion from the tribe, following a fight with several others in which he permanently maimed another individual. Forced to leave, the young man wandered the land until he found his way to Gridania, where he made the decision to study the ways of the Lancer, and from there, see the world.
Personality
A rather quiet individual who often portrays a rather apathetic character, he is nonetheless driven by a sense of honor and a desire to help others, and to change himself for the better through doing this. When he is not in a depressive mood, he is rather eclectic, humorous and on occasion confrontational. Generally not the kind of individual to 'make a fuss', it makes it all the more apparent when he does.
Hindered by a belief in his own stupidity, the things that drive W'kai are art, beauty and pure martial discipline studied for its own sake rather than for any specific purpose, and he only cares for the things that he finds beautiful, caring little for the opinions of others often. He is rather directionless in life, regardless of his belief that everything has a purpose as well as meaning, though he makes no claims towards to the relevance of said purpose nor meaning.
The man has little respect for social norms and frequently struggles with them, often discarding them entirely due to his dislike of 'normalcy', as from his perception the most pure state of mind is that of a child, and nothing is normal to a child. These things are exasperated by his frequent use of mind-altering substances, further making him an individual that is often awkward to communicate with, though he shows an exceptional ability to understand people as systems, as well as the ability to act by the rules of this system. Doing this, however, makes him angry and is boring, and he loves it when things surprise him so he keeps to his decidedly eclectic ways.

Other Notes
Hallucinates, experiences episodes of intense depression as well as swings into mania, enjoys conflict based on his belief that reality is the interaction of positive and negative energy forces and that life is the product of this in a fundamental way. Rather gray sense of morals due to this, but is given to kindness and avoids conflict where he finds it unnecessary. Once conflict begins however, he doesn't easily stop.
