Character

General

Will almost always go by his nickname "Blu". Very rarely does he let anyone use his first name, and has completely dropped his original last name. While young, he has had many experiences over his few years, and primarily is an adventurer or mercenary.

Appearance

Main feature would be his messy dark blue hair covered by his bandanna and light blue eyes. While average height, he has a stronger build, necessary for using his two handed sword effectively. When primarily on the front lines, he favors lighter armor with his weapons to provide mobility, relying on his own strength rather than that of heavy armor. His current preference is a rather large jacket, good for concealing extra weaponry and goods, and easy to shed if he is needed to fight. While blue might not be his favorite color, he enjoys wearing it to make his nickname a bit more memorable.

Behavior

Stubborn, quiet and does his best to keep to himself. Blu prefers to rely on no one other than himself, and very rarely will let a part of a job or mission be dependent on someone other than himself. He likes to keep his tongue as sharp as his blade, and is quick to wit as a defense mechanism when hes forced to socially interact against his will. He doesn't like helping anyone if gil is not involved, unless their life is in mortal danger; In a few rare cases, hes been known to step in to even in and leave before anyone tries to thank him. He has no desire for riches, just enough to get by in life.

He has a weakness for Miquo'te females in need, and has been known to sometimes accept mundane jobs for large discounts, usually giving the excuse its enough just to make him stronger. However even if its only for a single gil, he refuses to take job for free.

Combat

Blu has seen his share of combat: from local scraps he finds himself in to whatever missions he's sent on. He primarily relies on his two handed sword, but also carries a pair of daggers, and has minor experience with hand-to-hand combat. The options let Blu adapt and choose how he wishes to engage his targets: open field, close quarters, stealth, hit and run or even brute force. If he is required to work with others, it allows him to also adapt to fill their weaknesses. He views combat as a need to survive and to strengthen himself, and does not always find honor in it.

He's used hunting larger wildlife as a means to blow off excess frustration, and not even necessarily kill his target, so much as survive. However when frustrated he can also become overconfident and take on more than he should, neglecting his own safety.

Friends

  • Rissa Bajhiri: A young Miquo'te who stumbled across Blu in the wilderness: In a recent job where the proprietor failed to pay, Blu had decided to blow off steam and hunt larger game, both to sate anger and hunger. However his rage lead him to recklessness. He underestimated his prey and both sustained severe injuries before striking the fatal blow. It wasn't long that the injuries and bleeding lead to fatigue as he tried to wander back to town. Beginning to collapse against a tree near the road, he saw a figure running towards him trying to calling. The next thing he remembers is waking in a local inn, covered in bandages, and the Miquo'te girl healing and tending to his wounds. He insisted she leave and mind her own damn business. She insisted on letting her do what she does best, and "save the idiots not able to take care of themselves". Having his senses beaten back into over the days he was bed ridden by her wit and stubbornness not to abandon him, the two have become close friends.

Enemies

  • None he knows of.

History/Timeline

From childhood to his late teenage years, W'tiyo was raised as a normal Miquo'te child, he had aspirations of exploring the world and becoming an adventurer. He was usually 'happy go lucky', rarely sad, always finding the positive aspect in any mess. This quickly lead to W'tiyo being overconfident in his abilities, and stubborn when being told he couldn't do something.

W'tyio did his best to make friends throughout his tribe, but was not always successful. While he would be hard on himself for any blunder, others were usually harder given how overconfident he could be. Only one person really stuck with him through all of his messes, a female of the same age called W'suh Fhay. They became best of friends throughout their years together, and were usually in trouble together where W'tiyo would deliberately take the brunt of the blame on her behalf.

Slowly has he grew up, he became a bit rebellious after learning the ways of the Tribe, and his designation as a Tia. While always trying to keep an optimistic outlook, he had come to understand the expectations of what would be placed on W'suh. They had grown close and near inseparable over the years, even at the attempts to separate them. W'tiyo had seen W'suh begin to accept the way things were, even if it was not something she agreed with. Slowly becoming rebellious and disagreeing with the system, he drew the ire of other males and adults, telling him to accept it. His stubbornness, and now arrogance then lead to him challenging the current Nuhn in a burst of anger, who had his eye on W'suh. Even realizing what he had said, he refused to back down.

While being strong for his age at 19, his lack of combat experience lead to a very brutal defeat at the hand of the Nuhn. He made sure it was both painful and humiliating for W'tiyo while in front of everyone, including W'suh. In that moment, W'tiyo watched his only friend at this point cold shoulder him at his lowest, and walk away. It was unbeknownst to W'tiyo, but W'suh had reluctantly made a deal with the Nuhn in private. She would not go to his side, and in return W'tiyo would not be killed in the challenge.

It was at this point, W'tiyo cast off from his tribe, leaving everything he had. He refused to acknowledge his tribe existed at this point, and moved on to try and make life near the edge of Ul'dah. He used what skills he had learned growing up to become a mercenary, mainly using two small daggers and stealth to his advantage. Work was rough and unforgiving, pushing him to his limit with no free meals. Most people looked down on him, which would lead to his outbursts and loss of work. When things were bad enough, he would steal where possible in order to eat.

It wasn't long before he had a run in with a small band of mercenaries who called themselves the "Shadow Daggers". For whatever reason unknown to him, they took him in rather than killing him. He was given the nick name "Blu" based off his eyes as he glared the leader down. Although surprised, readily accepted, finally feeling as if he's moved on from his tribe. Blu befriended and accepted them quickly, as if eager to trust. He accepted them as family, and they helped in train in other manners of combat, including much larger swords. Blu admired the two handed sword, and felt the power he could use with it, even if it was clunky and slow. He honed his abilities with dual daggers, and refined his covert abilities in stealth and blending in. While he knew work wasn't always on the level, he had no qualms with stealing and smuggling. Inside, he made the excuse that "As long as no one was hurt, it was not all that bad".

That was all up until his small band accepted a job to smuggle merchandise over the borders out of Ul'dah towards Limsa Lominsa. As the Shadow Daggers were trying to progress in the world, but quickly realized they were in over their heads when their cargo was to be slaves. Most of the crew accepted the decision given the Gil incentive, but mainly given that failure would result in a horrible fate from their employer. Their easiest way out was to have to sacrifice a single member as a decoy, and unbeknownst to Blu, he was the freshest and untied member unlike the rest of their 'brotherhood'. It had been just over a year, but the loss of Blu was more acceptable than the loss of everyone. It didn't help Blu's case he had readily displayed his conflict with their choice of cargo, which made it all the easier to select him in secret.

The problem with this was Blu already had other plans. He could not, and refused to, accept smuggling people; He hated the idea of someone being controlled in such a demeaning way. He questioned the band's decision to have him transport a group of slaves himself, not realizing he was to be the decoy that was apprehended. He quickly made a rough plan once over the border to help a handful of slaves escape, and made off in the night with them making sure they made it to safety. In not becoming the decoy that was expected along the aforementioned route, the authorities were quick to focus their operations on the main group that was to be undetected.

Most of the Shadow Daggers were either killed or captured that day, and it was if the band had never existed. The few captured tried to make concessions by turning Blu over as the fleeing 'leader' of the group. Thankfully he had made his narrow escape by posing as one of the escaped slaves when the group approached the authorities, who with their help, suggested they had slain their single 'escort'. As such, the authorities wrote him off as dead. It was also through this encounter Blu learned the true face of his family who had set him up for failure, as the authorities joke in front of him the information they had learned from those captured.

Blu eventually took up refuge in Limsa Lominsa, and changed his appearance to match that of his nickname. He had honestly liked the simplicity in the name, and the only people who knew it were now either jailed or dead. Using an excess of dye, he colored his hair dark blue. He started to wear a bandanna to simply blend in with the locals, and surprisingly enjoyed the look as well; He figured, thinking if the past ever tried to return, he would simply suggest his name was to do with his hair and choice of wear, and any other references would be sheer coincidence.

Blu made ties with the local Rogue guild where he could, putting what training he had to work for the odd pocket change. In a way he almost resorted back to his old life, but now he didn't rely on anyone else to pick his jobs. It would be his time here he grew a strong fondness for the ocean, as it did wonders to reduce his anger. Most days when the pay had been good, he could be found just sitting near the water relaxing. He began focusing back on his life and his stupid decisions, how his anger and his stubbornness has gotten the better of him at times.

It wasn't long after becoming accustomed to his life here that the Calamity hit, --TO CONTINUE--
