Basic Info

Blunt and in your face, X'laqa is as headstrong and reckless as they come. If there's a big hunt or dangerous event, he's most likely in the area. He usually goes with the 'punch first, ask questions later' approach. Since this is the case, he tends to make his money as a bodyguard or muscle for hire. In relation to others, X'laqa can't stand those who won't stand up for themselves or who simply run away from tough situations. However, stand up to someone stronger than yourself or simply for someone you know and he'll happily pummel anything for you. Once you've gotten his 'positive' attention, he'll gladly help you out with anything you need doing, even if it's not fighting...for a limited time.

Appearance & Personality

A scrappy and lithe miqo'te, X'laqa is around the average height for his kind. With dark brown skin and burnt red hair, he fits right in to the hotter climes he frequents. His hair reaches mid-back and is held in a tight ponytail and he has a long, lion style tail that wraps around either his waist or leg when fighting as to not get in the way. He prefers loose clothing and doesn't understand the concept of modesty. His main outfit is a simple pair of harem pants and a short midriff tank with a hood. His feet, ankles, and wrists are wrapped in a combination of leather and cloth. His sparse clothing allows the multitude of scars covering his body to be visible at all times. The only jewelry he wears often is a single earring in his left ear and a choker.

X'laqa isn't the most subtle guy around. If he has a problem, it's going to be known. He also isn't the most sensitive, but it isn't for lack of trying. His mouth just gets away from him sometimes and the well-known adage, 'think before you speak' just doesn't quite stick. If he does unintentionally hurt your feelings, he'll go out of his way to make it up to you, even if it involves humiliating himself. Though, since he has almost no shame, that's a bit hard to do. He seems to be able to compose himself better around friends and people he's known a long time, holding his tongue or seeming to think better about things he normally wouldn't bother on. To his close friends, he is staunchly loyal and is pretty much at their beck and call since he has no clear objectives in his life aside from attending the next brawl or being banned from yet another bar.

In regards to fighting, he can still be as brutal and merciless as he was in his younger years, but he's now able to hone it more efficiently and become less of a loose cannon. However, bits of his earlier style still peak through when he becomes especially angry or if he comes up against someone who gives him a good fight. At that point, his restraint slowly deteriorates, making him incredibly destructive and reckless. His masochism and determination to win also adds to this, making him continue fighting even beyond what is deemed safe or even sane. He will continue to try to fight even if his body can't keep up.

Biography

Early Years

X’laqa started fighting from a very early age. Being one of the only children his age in his tribe, he was constantly picked on by the older children who threw him around, berated him with slurs and insults, and generally used him as a walking punching bag. Becoming more resentful and angry as the years went on, X’laqa eventually snapped and lashed out, crippling one of his bullies and mutilating another two.

Though this was not quite enough to get him completely kicked out, he became more isolated from the rest of the tribe and generally ignored as a whole. This complete seclusion lasted for several months before a group of his original tormentors started their original antics again. Fed up with being either ignored or belittled, X’laqa went into a rage. The brutality and complete lack of mercy shown to his bullies was all the excuse his tribe needed to exile him.

Having known no other life than being part of a larger group, X’laqa wandered aimlessly for some months, keeping to the outskirts of cities and settlements and generally being wary of large populations of mixed races. He was finally forced to visit a city when his supplies and gear ran ragged. Not long after entering the city, he incited a street fight, having no social skills or graces with which to properly interact.

He managed to settle the fight relatively fast which impressed a traveling merchant who had set up his stall across the way. The merchant offered X’laqa a business deal in which he would supply food and gil if X’laqa took down specific marks yielding hard to get materials for him. Having no reason to refuse, X’laqa agreed and ultimately discovered the business that is hunting. He moved on from there, taking up any work he could find that required only a pair of fists to complete.

Present

X'laqa has improved his fighting style over the years, becoming more of a concentrated threat than a straight-up brawler, but he still suffers for his earlier bullying. His mouth has led him into more than one bar fight, one of which gave him permanent trauma in his left leg. This has made him more cautious around large crowds, the relaxed aura he gained over the years as a mercenary almost vanishing. This has also forced him to try and seek permanent accommodations since he could no longer wander as he once did as both his leg and coin purse could not allow it. He has thus taken up with a small Tavern that has agreed to shelter him in exchange for his services. He has tentatively agreed to their terms, but only time will tell if the arrangement will last.

RELATIONS

Romantic Interest Platonic Love Good Standing Poor Standing
Aurora Jhin : The owner of the Nytesong Sanctuary Laqa resides at, Aurora took Laqa in after encountering him in Ul'dah. He mistook her for a prostitute and instead of being offended, she seemed amused at his blunt and upfront demeanor. He agreed to help her out with her Tavern and businesses in exchange for a place to stay. The two have an odd relationship, often squabbling like siblings rather than Tavern owner and resident.
Kipih Kiht : Laqa encountered this young Miqo'te after she attempted to steal from him and an acquaintance. She was saved from his wrath by a random passerby, but the encounter left a bad taste in Laqas' mouth. As such, he doesn't think fondly of this young Miqo'te. It doesn't help that he has a strong dislike of children and thus, thinks even less of her than usual.
