Character

General

Silent and thoughtful, Yehn'a is a shy Miqo'te who finds comfort in the various creatures of Eorzea. With Carbuncle at his side, he is never short of a conversation partner. His goal is simply to explore every corner of Eorzea, and learn all of its secrets. He wishes to become an adept summoner, and is well on his way unto doing so.

Appearance

His eyes are a light blue, and his hair white with hints of black. The most noticeable feature are the tattoos on his face, given to him at a young age. He's thin, lithe, and naturally agile. He owes much of his dexterity from his time spent climbing trees and cliffs, as well as from swimming for long periods of time.

Behavior

Around people, he is shy and quiet. He flinches when unexpectedly touched, and often rambles about his various musings when nervous. Unintentionally, he'll come off as snobby and arrogant, as he takes great pride in his studies and experiments. He lacks social grace, and often has a difficult time holding his tongue when he needs to. With his intentions often misunderstood by people, he prefers the company of his summons and other pets and minions, even if they do not talk back. His 'conversations' can range anywhere from his theories on the nature of Aether to how the leafs contrast perfectly with the blue hues of the sky, and how the moon seems much closer than normal on any given night.

He often garners strange looks during his travels as he can be seen having these in depth conversations with Carbuncle. He shows enthusiasm about any given subject by making exaggerated gestures, and speaking very quickly, as if his words would escape him if he were to slow down. This comes off as entertaining to his peers, who may be used to his calm demeanor, or his meek appearance. Sometimes, he'll mutter under his breath recipes he's memorized from countless cookbooks, or he'll sing softly, seemingly oblivious to anyone who may be listening.

Other than that, he can often be seen enjoying large tomes in bars and taverns, alone or with carbuncle.

Combat

General

Yehn'a prefers keeping his foes at a distance, and relies on magic. While a talented summoner, he often calls upon whatever forces he chooses to aid him in battle. He was originally trained in Gridania to become a healer, like his mother, but he has very little interest in the art. He knows nothing of swords or axes, and fumbles with a lance. He does ponders if whether a bow would suit his needs in certain situations, but has yet to try his hands at archery.

History/Timeline

He remembers very little of the time before he and his mother fled to Gridania. In fact, he does not know why they went, or why the rest of their family did not join them. The oldest of his three brothers, he was only 7 when they left.

He tried many times to gain answers from his mother, but to no avail. She had chosen to join the Order of the Twin Adder as soon as they had arrived. He rarely saw her, and his origins left him isolated within the forests. Children would not play with him, and even if they tried their parents were soon to discourage them. His own mother was too busy to give him the time of day, thus he spent his time exploring and writing his finds in a small notebook.

The Black Shroud soon became his home, and he grew familiar with the fauna and flora within. He studied everything he could get his hands on. This led to him often having to be rushed back into Gridania with injuries caused by poisonous plants and various creatures more often than not, but it did not deter him in any way. It only made him more curious.

He enjoyed the quiet trees, how they kept him away from the silent whispers and accusing glances. He found his friends in the bugs and squirrels. Of course, most people thought his behavior rather odd- especially when he began talking to the creatures that they saw as only menaces. He would speak to them as if they were listening to him, and understood him.

As he grew, he learned of his affinity to magic, and none were surprised to find this true after viewing his mother's various accomplishments within the Adder. Everyone thought it best that he learned beside the conjurers, hoping that their calm nature would ease his strange behavior, to help him grow out of it. Unfortunately for them, he found such studies boring. In his early teens he often dreamed of leaving Gridania to study with the Arcanists in Limsa. Whenever he brought this up to his tutors, they balked. 'Study among pirates?' They would say. 'Are you mad?'

When the calamity struck, he lost his mother. And with her, the only real human companion he's known in his years in Gridania.

Years past, and the difficulties of handling his life in Gridania without home or guidance grew too much. When he was finally able to receive an air ship license, he got one immediately and set towards Limsa with the goal of becoming an accomplished summoner.
