Yesun Salkhi (birth name Yesuntei Salkhi), is a xaela of the northern Salkhi tribe currently roaming the streets of Ul'dah.
The Salkhi is a tribe from the northern mountains of Othard who, despite their peaceful nature, tend to frighten many at first glance. From a very early age, members of the Salkhi are given a mask which is, except for rare occasions, never taken off. Removing it without a legitimate reason is considered a taboo and it is for this reason that many of it’s members grow up without ever seeing their own face. The mask may or may not replaced a few times within a Salkhi’s lifetime. A special mask is crafted whenever a member dies, for them to wear as they leave for the Hereafter.
For reasons unknown, very few women are born into the tribe while most of it’s members are male.

Appearance & Personality
- While Yesun is small compared to many of other races, she is large for women of her own. With unsually wide shoulders, back and somewhat muscular build she stands at roughly 5'2. Her skin shows hints of a green tone and her hair is short with a somewhat uneven mix of black and grey.
- There isn't much to say about her face, as she covers it at all times.
Biography
Early life
- Born in the northern mountains of Othard, Yesun was the only child of Agaaryn and Altani Salkhi. Being the only child and a daughter in a male dominant tribe on top of that wasn't always easy, especially since Yesun since a young age questioned the traditions of her tribe. Never allowed to see her face, she was forced to start wearing her mask at the age of 5, something she never liked. However, there wasn't much for her to do but obey. After all, it's been her tribes traditions since eras past.
- As she grew older, she started to question more and more why she had to wear her mask. The elders of her tribe always spoke of how one should never reveal your face, how doing so would only cause torment and misfortune... alas, with Yesun realizing that other tribes and people who didn't follow their traditions were fine, she removed her mask at the age of 23 and saw her own reflection for the first time.
- Having broken her tribes old traditions did indeed cause her torment and misfortune, for before she knew it she was exiled. Being exiled changed Yesun, leaving her unable to take off her mask in fear that it will once more cause her pain. She hasn't taken it off since that day.
- Since no other tribe she turned to would take her in, she made her way to Eorzea, shortening her first name Yesuntei to Yesun. After some time she ended up in Ul'dah, where she started to learn the eorzean language.
Present
- In the present, she resides in a refugee tent outside Ul'dah's city walls, making her way into the city to get some smaller jobs and errands here and there to make some coin. It is hard for her because of her mask, but she refuses to take it off still.
- She's been able to adjust to eorzean culture somewhat, although leaving her old lifestyle so suddenly is still something that pains her.
