"The greatest cure for ignorance is insight, nurtured through the acquisition of knowledge."
Daughter of the Sages of Thaliak
Gender Female
Race Lalafell
Clan Dunesfolk (Ala Mhigan)
Citizenship Gridania
Age 26
Patron Deity Thaliak, the Scholar

Yhanabi Nabi is a highly intelligent Lalafellin mixed-breed well-versed and practiced in all manner of [known] magick. Yhanabi's main goal is to become the next Dunesfolk Sage in her family like her father has accomplished, and as such has become well-known amongst her peers and associates as an avid user of every known magic in Eorzea, as well as possessing great knowledge on the subject. That said, it has left her a little prideful of her abilities, but she has, and is still always willing to prove herself to back up the things she says, and not just through magic as well.

Her somewhat distant and unexplored Ala Mhigan roots also allow her to tap into the power of the Monk easier than others, and as a result has increased overall strength. It is because of her Ala Mhigan descent as well as her rough training in the Monkhood that she is able to often bear the strain of constant magic use. Yhanabi had continually been making an effort to conceal her family details until only recently, after she had come under scrutiny following a number of events. However, recent discoveries and surviving clues enabled her to track down her father to Ala Mhigo, whom she has found to still be alive with the help of an Au Ra she met in the Churning Mists named Yughal Qestir, who sought her out for her own reasons.

Plot

A Realm Reborn

For as long as she can remember, Yhanabi has since been interested in the arcs of magick, ever since she was little and her father read to her all the many books he possessed. However, the Calamity was not what took her father's life...at least, not in the way everyone else's life was taken. Yhanabi doesn't have any sentimental items belonging to her father other than the books he studied and the books and notes he wrote and compiled himself.

Starting with the books he studied, Yhanabi devoted all of her time and efforts towards learning everything her father learned, and through that alone she learned of many of the magicks that exist in Eorzea. She also coincidentally learned that she bore the signs of a promising Sage, having an aptitude for learning the basics of these magics fairly quickly over time. Soon enough she was no longer a stranger to magick, and having lived in Ul'dah, it wasn't something that did not warrant question or doubt from herself or others. However, this was not the root of her focus. The one thing that still had her attention---what she didn't know, was the death of her father, ManabĂ Sanabi, and even more mysterious, the early deaths of all the other Sages, and how they happened. However, to learn of this happening, she had to venture forth from Ul'dah in order to take the steps needed...and that would first be done by learning a fundamental part of magick...the one of life. It is then, and through that endeavor, that her journey, as not just an adventurer, but a seeker of great knowledge, would begin in Gridania...one of the greatest sources of this element.

Yhanabi, despite her vast knowledge of magick, was not an open person when she first started out. Always holed up at home with her books, she never had much interaction outside of those within her family, particularly her mother, so it was a big step for her to take a carriage to Gridania, sitting amongst people she did not know. When the merchant asked if she was an adventurer, she nodded without knowing what an adventurer is, thinking it was a term in Gridania for those who sought knowledge, but kept quiet as to her intentions for joining. Upon arriving in Gridania, she held her father's book close to her chest, affixing her glasses so she could see clearer, before bumping into someone and falling to the ground instantly, dropping her book. She quickly scrambled for the book before affixing her glasses once more and looking up to find she had bumped into a rather tall and imposing Roegadyn, and she was looking right back at her. Quickly apologizing she started stuttering as she tried as best she could to say sorry as many times as possible, before being offered her hand to get up. She could only stare as she reluctantly grabbed the Roegadyn's hand before being pulled up to her feet. The Roegadyn introduced herself as Lydahn Falahann, and when she asked for Yhanabi's name, she was about to introduce herself then stopped, her eyes darting side-to-side before closing her eyes and reopening them with a slightly more serious expression as she introduced herself and bowed, as if to avoid saying something. She was told by her mother to never use her real name in introductions, and to only use the pen name she was taught to give when in the presence of foreigners. Shortly after meeting Lydahn, she made her way to the Adventurer's Guild, where she met the proprietor of the establishment, Mother Miounne. When Yhanabi penned her name, she questioned her name, saying, "Hmm...a very strange name for a lalafell, I would add. Are you sure this is your real name?" Yhanabi tried not to show a hint of doubt and simply nodded with her brows furrowed in all seriousness. Mother Miounne had her doubts still, but if it was a name she would respond to, she did not pay it too much mind. Once Yhanabi explained to her her reasons for being in Gridania, Mother Miounne gave her the proper instructions on what to do before going to the Conjurer's Guild, where her journey would truly begin.

Yhanabi now bears inside her remnants of Ascian influence after having delved into Black Magic shortly after mastering White Magic and the art of the Scholar. Even though she practices all forms of magic, Thaumaturgy has always been her weakest one. Despite Yhanabi's now headstrong and prideful proclaims of intellectual superiority, she is very adamant about supporting her allies, and even more strict about keeping causalities in any situation to a minimum, if not completely absent. This also ties to her reckless behavior, in which there are times when she overextends herself by putting forth obscenely-demanding amounts of white magic to prevent casualties at all costs. It is because of this that her White Magic has weakened substantially, and so now often depends on the use of her skills as a Scholar to make up for that loss in power, as well as bolstering the effects of her ethers to keep her white magic potent as long as possible. Through all of this, Emiiresa realizes she is not invincible, but it's through her intense hardships that have allowed her to press forward and become the person she is now.

However, after years of keeping her alter-ego in check, it had finally cracked under the pressure, finally losing her grip on her emotional and mental state as her psyche deteriorated to a point where the Ascian-alter ego was free to possess her. Kept in the Conjurer's Guild in Gridania, she fared no better, but was being kept at least from going rampant on the city. Ninifae Nira, Leih'a Relanah, Mountain Dragon, and many others [in spirit] helped oust the Ascian presence from her body after a few days of searching in her psyche, discovering the Ascian presence from inside her who was steadily swallowing Yhanabi's essence and mind. Having "exorcised" the Ascian from Yhanabi's body, for the most part, Yhanabi was purified of the dark presence inside her, which may have largely contributed to her personality shift early on, in addition to the loss of her mother, as well as her first love. It is unknown how she would act now that the Ascian is gone, but for the time being she rested comatose at the New Conglomerate's establishment, slowly recovering from the huge loss in aetheric energy from the event. It is through this event that Ninifae Nira learned much of her former mentor's history and life, as well as the reasons for her abilities and prowess in all the known magic arts.

A little later on, however, Yhanabi disappeared from Ninifae's care, suggesting she may have finally woken up and left. Yhanabi however meets Mara once again, a friend of hers to which they start to talk again. However, as if by fate Yhanabi is reunited with Luna once more with Mara's help, only for her to disappear from her once again because the body Luna was using was merely only a temporary vessel for her soul, the body decaying and decomposing. When Luna whispered to her of how to bring her back, Yhanabi resolved to go through with it, regardless of the circumstances. However, like with her attempt with Alchemy, her friend Mara had doubts, and eventually enlisted the aid of a woman named Reppu Hijiri, who threatened to arrest Yhanabi while she was in Mor Dhona. Battling with her severely mixed emotions, Yhanabi ran from them, disappearing from sight as she resolved to resurrect Luna once again, regardless of what kind of position that would put Yhanabi in.

Heavensward

Not long after it was discovered that Yhanabi had succeeded in her endeavor, however it was only a temporary existence that ended with a bitter farewell, once again. Nevertheless, as the act was done on Coerthan lands, she was apprehended and taken into Ishgard for hearing. She was subsequently subjected to trial by combat, in which she managed to come out victorious...however she was not let off the hook so easily. With her prowess and knowledge in the magic arts, she was restricted to Ishgard and instructed to provide guidance and assistance in furnishing the younger, upcoming magicians with the knowledge needed to become proper mages. In so doing she learned from them about the art of Astrology in Ishgard, and soon after took up the art herself. However, when she was called to the Churning Mists to assist with defensive support in the fight against Dragonscale, a commander of Nidhogg's forces, she was met by a young female Au Ra named Yughal, a mysterious traveler who demonstrated strange magic abilities, which piqued Yhanabi's interest. Suggesting that it was another form of magic, Yhanabi journeyed back to Ishgard in order to find anything she could about the nature of the Au Ra's abilities, but found naught. Resolving to hopefully find the answers upon mastering Astrology, she continued her studies on the matter. However, not long before she mastered the art she was dragged into more scuffles between the dragons and elezen of Ishgard as Yhanabi lended her assistance once more. Between helping her friend Ellerierre and the nation's ordeal with Nidhogg, Yhanabi grew tired and frustrated at Ishgard's citizens at this point, and upon her subsequent freedom after contributing much to the magic community, she began to make her way towards the entrance of the city when she was visited by the mysterious Au Ra female once again, who asked that she come to a place called Idyllshire, which, thanks to the sudden influx of adventurers into the city, had been growing and developing at an accelerated pace. It was there that she came into contact with a facet of Sharlayan history...something that reminded her very much of her father. When Yughal revealed to her that her father was in fact still alive and had assisted her with learning the art she practiced, Yhanabi demanded answers regarding his whereabouts. At this Yughal passed along a message to her that was from her father, providing details about his working with Ala Mhigan forces that were being built to fight against the Empire. The message also regarded that the art that Yughal practiced would lead Yhanabi to her father, if she so desired to learn. Learning that the art employed the use of weaponry, however, which has never been Yhanabi's strong suit, she found herself at an immense loss. Though her friend Mountain's mother was a Arcanist of renown, that expertise did not carry with her daughter, and is thus incapable of learning the art, along with other obligations she has regarding the region of Kugane. Regarding Ellerierre, she was emotionally worn-out from the events in Ishgard as well as those concerning her father, and only sought to get away from the conflict by settling in Uldah for the time being. Yhanabi told the woman she needed time to think about her decision, and returned to Gridania, just in time for the Grand Company's opening of Apartment areas for the Lavender Beds. Having not been successful in acquiring a house for Ellerierre, Mountain, and herself, Yhanabi bought herself an apartment space, and lended Ellerierre money to buy her own in Uldah to help her adjust to her new surroundings. Mountain makes her living cooking and making tools for the residents in Tailfeather, as well as assisting them in chocobo hunting. Although it wasn't ideal, Yhanabi was finally able to spread out her belongings and have a place to put everything. Ordering bookshelves from the Marketboard, she was able to categorize all of the grimoires she had acquired since her arrival in Gridania, as well as the notes and readings she had compiled from her original home in Ala Mhigo on her desk that were done by her father. She would spend the next several moons from that point on studying everything she could about Ala Mhigo and its current position.

In the midst of her near completion of her studies, she was visited by Ellerierre one day, who asked that she teach her healing magic. However, as Yhanabi had explained long ago, Ellerierre lacked the piety that was necessary for her to pursue the healing arts, as well as the devotion to doing it which was the cause of her failure the first time she attempted to learn it. During the conversation, however, Yhanabi remembered the weapon that the magic art that the Au Ra used employed, and knowing Ellerierre's proficiency with blades, considered her option to travel to Ala Mhigo to learn the art. Yhanabi decided she would teach Ellerierre the basics if she could put in the effort to learn the rest on her own. In the meantime, Yhanabi returned to Yughal and requested her assistance in finding her father, since learning her magic art was not possible because of the manner of weapon that it utilized. Around this time, it was not long before that objective would come within Yhanabi's reach, with the firmament of Gridania being shaken by the subsequent battle that took place on its borders with the wartorn Ala Mhigo...and it was this chance that Yhanabi took that would ultimately lead her to her final push to find her father.

Stormblood: Finding Manabi Sanabi

YhanabiAndManabi.jpg

After the Warrior of Light's endeavors against the Garlean's hold on the war-stricken nation, and winning for its people its long-awaited freedom, Yhanabi Nabi took every opportunity and advantage to make the most of the newfound independence to scour her parents' home, leaving no place unexplored and no tome unscoured. She spent the most time in Ala Mhigo, of course, but spent a significant time researching what she could from the hundreds of tomes found in the Ala Mhigan Quarter and beyond, hoping to find more hints as to the whereabouts of her father and if any collection of his time in the Sages oF Thaliak had survived the Garlean occupation. Taking notes of the expanse of the city as she glanced out from above its buildings at the Royal Promenade, Yhanabi found herself entranced for a moment by its beauty and splendor. Until now she had been relentlessly collecting data and documenting any and all information she could find about the nation and her father's contributions concerning it, and never really took the time to really gaze upon her parents' hometown. It was when she took a moment to truly look upon the city that she showed a smile for the first time in ages, finally serene and happy knowing she finally made it back to the home she spent a portion of her childhood in.

Character

Yhanabi has had alot of time to grow and change as the years passed by. The kind of person she is now is almost nothing like the one she was before entering Gridania. She has become far more open, and her way of thinking has vastly matured. This however does not mean that Yhanabi is immune to making mistakes, and she still bears some noticeable faults.

Personality

Original Personality

Before meeting Mountain, Ellerierre, and Luna, Emiiresa was one who kept to herself, however her fascination with literature, books, and grimoires of magics remains unparalleled, even to this day. However because of this she was always often considered quiet and unwilling to associate, and socially awkward when it came to interaction with others. However, hidden behind her reclusive nature was alot of ambition, as well as alot of intelligence and the ability to quickly learn the things she put her mind to. This showed quite easily when she first took up conjury and arcanima.

Current Personality

After many of the events that have now transpired, she has known a small group of friends, while recently interacting with some individuals that have made her reconfirm what kind of person she is. Though she still is engrossed with her books, she takes personal and individual interaction more seriously, and tries to involve herself in it if the situation requires, though other events pertaining to her abilities and life still keep her from being completely open and willing about herself and what she does. Her personality and even some of her mannerisms are a result of her former, more elite lalafellin magician superiors that she studied with, who, despite their sizes, were always seen placing themselves towering above their peers and inferiors, whether it is above a fountain, small building, or even the stairs. As a result, Yhanabi has subconsciously and unknowingly adopted these traits, and often finds herself standing atop the railings of bridges in Gridania, or anything that makes her noticeably "taller" than those around her. However this trait only belies a much more fragile demeanor and strong insecurity about her own, self-administered short-comings.

As such, although her supportive nature can be oft misunderstood to those around her, she is very adverse to receiving help that benefits her own matters and condition, and prefers to handle her own matters on her own, so as to keep from looking weak to those around her. Her entire personality is developed around the idea that "those who cannot use their own ability to provide for themselves do not deserve respect." As a result, this idea leads to her unyielding personality, but creates an even weaker and more fragile center of self-esteem, always thinking deep down that she is not worth anything and feels she must constantly prove to the world she means something and is of use, so as to earn the respect of her peers. Yhanabi has become much better at hiding this however, always putting on a serious, brave, and strict face in public, refusing to accept pity.

However, her time in Ishgard as well as the years that followed prior to her arrest in Coerthas have had a large effect on her self-esteem and have forced her to re-examine herself. Throughout this time, she has become much more resolute and calm about herself, and carefully considers her options before putting an idea or way of thinking to practice. She has also become a very frugal individual, refusing to spend a large sum of money on anything unless the expenditure is a one-time expense. She much prefers to take care of financial matters quickly and through the most affordable methods. Otherwise, she often decides to take care of her requirements on her own, or uses whatever networks she has available. She now manages the operation of several Linkshells proper, and currently is in the process of creating another to further extend her networks now that she has become much more engrossed in her crafting and gathering disciplines. Yhanabi is considered to be an adult, and she acts just as such, making the logical and reasonable decision before an emotional one when it comes to most situations. That being the case, she can often be very stubborn about said choices, as well as her way of thinking. Unless in the face of irrefutable evidence or reasoning, she is not like to change her mind on many things.

Family History

A young Yhanabi Nabi with her parents Yhukubi Kubi and Manabi Sanabi

Father's Side: Manabi Sanabi and the Family of Sages

Ever since Yhanabi was a little girl she has always admired her father and taken great interest in the books he often read to her at night back when they lived in Ala Mhigo. It eventually led to her desire to become a mage like her father, and even to dabble in Alchemy, but at the time her father denied her the latter due to the dangers of experimenting with such dangerous materials. Yhanabi's current staff, the Astrolabe, is a testament to her father who also used it out of great respect for him. She has, since becoming capable of using it, been surprisingly adamant about using a different one.

Although Yhanabi has learned different types of fighting from both her parents, she has far more interests in the disciplines that she learned from her father, which are the magic arts. Her father in particular, Manabi Sanabi, was and is considered a master of the magic arts, and counted among a group of mages known as the "Sages of Thaliak," a unofficial legion of individuals who have committed themselves to the acquisition and mastery of all known magic, and heed Thaliak the Scholar as their patron deity. One is said to be admitted to the group when an individual has come to master more than 5 different arts of magic. As such, the prospect of the discovery of a new art as mentioned by Yughal had Yhanabi immensely interested, as not only would this mean admittance to their ranks, but it would be yet another opportunity to gain a lead on her father's whereabouts. However, this is not the only underlying factor for her need to find him. Prior to the attack on Ala Mhigo by the Empire nearly 20 years ago, Manabi had denied repeatedly joining with the Ala Mhigan forces in their efforts to counter the impending Garlean forces, due to his expertise in the magic arts. It's because of this that Yhanabi's father is seen as a traitor, amongst both his colleagues and those in the Sages of Thaliak, who had offered their full support for the Resistance forces. Despite this, other reasons compelled him to remain within the region, one of which being the preservation of the tomes and books the Sages of Thaliak had garnered and created. With the acquisition of Ala Mhigo, the Garlean forces wiped out any trace of the legion that persisted after the country's fall, burning and destroying all manner of books, tools, staves, and anything else tied to their order. It is unknown whether or not Manabi had succeeded in his endeavor to preserve all of this on his own while remaining hidden from the eyes of Garlean rule, and it is those mysteries that compels Yhanabi to find the answer, by traveling to Ala Mhigo and hopefully locating his whereabouts, which she has asked Yughal to help her in doing. With the recent uproar in Gridania that seems to have created such an opportunity, Yhanabi plans to take the chance to return to her home the first chance she gets...

Mother's Side: Yhukubi Kubi and the Ying-Yang Fists of Ala Mhigo

In contrast to her father's lineage, Emiiresa's grandmother on her mother's side was part of the duo rightly dubbed "The Ying-Yang Fists of Ala Mhigo," one of history's most recent prodigies of the art of the Monk. Together, they not only became one of the Monkhood's most promising students, but it has inspired many of the pugilists of Uldah today who fight in the Coliseum. However, what many do not know about the Monkhood is that there are two sects, light and dark, and the pair were both opposites. Yhanabi's grandmother, Yhokubi Kubi, was a monk who was part of the sect of light, while the other was a part of the sect of darkness, a Hyuran Highlander Ala Mhigan by the name of Agetharus Ironfist. Despite their positions, the two were said to have shared a very personal relationship.

Yhanabi has neglected to read about her mother's family tree because of her constant focus on the magic arts, and so she does not know exactly if her mother was born from these two individuals, as she has never met her grandfather, nor had Yhanabi's mother ever mentioned him. She is however aware of the "Ying-Yang Fists of Ala Mhigo," and learned of them mainly through the rumors of individuals in Little Ala Mhigo and Ul'dah. She has already lended some manner of assistance to those in Little Ala Mhigo and Gridania in hopes of gaining access to Ala Mhigo to find her father. Although the Immortal Flames know about them, it is those of Little Ala Mhigo and beyond Ul'dah's city walls that are more affiliated with the legendary pair, as Yhukubi and Agetharus did not regularly visit Ul'dah. However, since Garlemald's conquering of their home, Ala Mhigo, not much has been heard from them. Yhukubi and Agetharus were believed to have been killed along with those who fought against the Empire during its conquering. Yhanabi's mother, on the other hand, Yhukubi Kubi, worked as a guard amongst the royalty of Ala Mhigo, known well for her skills in the Monkhood as well, and met her father through her work when she was tasked with guarding his life.

One of Yhukubi and Agetharus' most distinguishing features was their hair color, something they elected to change together. While Yhukubi's hair is black and white with a dominating white color, Agetharus' is mostly black with white. It was not only to show the type of philosophy they both pursued as Monks, but also to show their commitment to one another. When together, they would be wearing matching outfits, but Yhukubi's main clothing, though similar to the Fuma garments, is distinct in some ways, and is not exactly like the ones worn today, while Agetharus wears a more powerful version of the Monk's traditional garb, one that Yhanabi is currently wearing. Another one of Yhukubi's, or rather Yhanabi's mother's side's distinct features, are the markings on their face. Due to Yhukubi's family being very religious, they are given special markings when undergoing the Monkhood. One who is in training to master this ability has the marks that Yhanabi currently has, while Yhukubi wears the marks of a master in control. Due to never mastering the full potential of the Monk, she still wears the same marks on her face today as she did when she first began training to learn it.

Hobbies/Interests

Botany

When Emiiresa first started out in Gridania, she took up the Discipline of Botany. Viewed by her as more of a hobby rather than work, Emiiresa sometimes spends time gathering out on the field, what she calls "fieldwork" when talking to others. It is one of the very few things she does that she finds undeniably relaxing. It is also through Botany that she later develops a stronger interest in Alchemy, since the two are very much dependent on one another in some ways. When she was little she had loved the inner workings of Alchemy, but was too young to join their ranks at the time. Though she joins Alchemy later, she takes it much more seriously in contrast to her time spent working in Botany. Now having become much more involved in the field, Yhanabi has created countless concoctions and medicines, for both herself and others. She also provides Mountain and others with the ingredients they need to make food as well.

Alchemy

Things change for Yhanabi in Alchemy when she loses Luna and seeks to bring her back, tapping into combinations of her own magic and what she knew of Alchemy to attempt something strictly forbidden. The act had found herself ousted from Ul'dah, fleeing the City-State for fear of being arrested. However, through contacting the Scions of the Seventh Dawn, Luna, after returning to the world of the living, clears her name, for the most part. She still continues to dabble in Alchemy now, but is much more cautious and careful. She now mainly focuses on the development of medicine and other supplemental concoctions for the betterment of those around her.

Goldsmithing

Yhanabi has also taken a liking to Goldsmithing, and has in fact found herself more adept in the art than she had originally thought. She now has a workbench for her own tinkering as well as a place of nothing but peace and quiet and the sounds of her working. However, her ambition towards mastering it has become even more committed after taking on Arscara's essence inside herself, rendering her quite vunerable to Ascian control, and even more so since her immersion into the art of the Black Mage. She had since been working with Alchemy and Goldsmithing in tandem to develop an item to seal away dark magic, or allow her to better defend herself against Ascian influence, as she did not yet know the means to oust Arscara from her body. Although her former apprentice Ninifae had succeeded in doing this for her, she still dabbles in the art from time to time. Upon reuniting with her father she learned that he also had a talent for goldsmithing, which was further bolstered by the things she learned from Qalyana and the Vira. This would lead her to follow in her father's footsteps and both learn more about them and assist them and the Gatekeepers in their endeavors whenever possible.

Affiliations

Friends/Acquaintances

Mountain Dragon(Female Roegadyn) - one of Yhanabi's first and most loyal friends who seems to have a distinct care for lalafells, however she knows to treat her with respect due to her expertise in her field, resulting in a strong bond between the two. They have been almost inseparable since.

Ellerierre Arislaunde(Female Elezen) - Rather than an acquaintance or companion, both consider each other "intellectual equals." Because of this, unlike Lydann, whom Ellerierre is always constantly attempting to provoke and start petty arguments with, the lalafell and elezen get along rather well, and with Ellerierre's help, was able to learn a small breadth of the discipline of archery. However, now, after everything that has happened in Ishgard, Ellerierre and Yhanabi consider each other close friends, almost as if they were sisters.

Luna Tsukihime(Female Lalafell) - an individual who has had a life-changing effect on Yhanabi. Ultimately it was Luna who partially encouraged Emiiresa to break out of her shell and open herself up to more things, and eventually led to the two sharing a very mutual relationship which grew to be a romantic relationship between the two as they grew very close, becoming Yhanabi's first love. However, this didn't mean they were all good encouragements. Luna began to show peculiar signs that confused and maybe even frightened Yhanabi at times. At one point, Yhanabi found herself in mortal danger when Luna lost her senses and attempted to attack her, to which she defended herself and led to Luna's death shortly after, disappearing into the sky as bits of aether and leaving not a trace of her left, save for hints of how to bring her back. It was then she departed Coerthas for Ul'dah to learn and practice Alchemy, with the intent to attempt to bring her back. But soon people learned of her intents, and Yhanabi was almost branded a criminal by her actions, trying to bring someone back from the dead. It was only because of the Scions that Yhanabi's name was cleared, and the crime overlooked. In addition to the loss of her mother to the Ascians at the Guardian Tree and Luna's sudden and unfortunate "death," although it sent Yhanabi spiraling into a deep depression, it led her to take up the discipline of the Pugilism, then afterwards the Monk, in order to strengthen her resolve and attempt to empower herself with more confidence and willpower, allowing her to move on. However, when Luna unexpectedly returned, the two found that they had became rather distant, as Luna took on a new body that Yhanabi didn't recognize, and was much to her dissatisfaction that it was the body of a Miqo'te. However, after a certain point she disappeared once again, never seen again. It was after her second disappearance that Yhanabi Nabi choose to cut off any remaining emotional ties she had with Luna, resolving that she was likely dead. It would be only up until very recently that Luna yet again returns as her old self, summoned back into the world with a decaying body through the use of some sort of Necromancy. When Yhanabi saw her face once again sitting in Mara's lap, she found herself overcome with emotions she thought she'd never feel again. It was then that Yhanabi began to realize just how much of a hold Luna really had on her heart all this time, only being able to suppress her lovelorn feelings due to the Ascian Arscara, who forced her to practice emotional control in order to contain the Ascian's influence over her. Overcome with mixed feelings, Yhanabi found herself speechless, finding herself standing in front of her former lover again. But as if the fates conspired against the two, Luna's time was running out. Not bearing to lose her a third time, Yhanabi pleaded for her to stay, to which Luna whispered to her of a way to bring her back entirely - using one of her fairies, Selene. Upon throwing herself into the water below in Limsa Lominsa, Yhanabi was made to watch Luna disappear yet again. It was then that Yhanabi would take up Luna's words and reluctantly go through with her plan, asking Selene to take part in the endeavor, to which she reluctantly agreed, but not without concerns. Still, Yhanabi decided to go through with it and even bring Mara with her to keep watch over her. However, things would become difficult as Mara saw it best to let Luna pass on, stopping her from trying to initiate the ritual by casting silence on her. Eventually Yhanabi fled, finding a discreet and secluded location with which to summon Luna back into the world of the living.

Ninifae Nira(Female Miqo'te) - Having no idea that the girl would later become her very first apprentice, Yhanabi and Ninifae met in a rather auspicious setting, allowing the two of them to share words of curiosity and suspicion which, with time, eventually developed rather quickly into a special teacher-and-student relationship, Yhanabi beginning to teach her what she not only knew of magic, but especially teaching her in the ways of the Monkhood, after finding out about Ninifae's problematic situation at the time. Eventually Ninifae would grow to master the Monkhood just as her teacher had, and even journeyed and toiled to gain assets and power to more than just magic, resulting in her gaining even more abilities than Yhanabi herself. Yhanabi quickly saw and realized the true value of their relationship after she helped to oust the Ascian Arscara from her body and soul. It was at this point that Yhanabi no longer saw her as just an apprentice, but now acknowledged her as a close friend and peer as well. Despite this, however, after months of being in a coma from the immense loss of aetheric power from that endeavor, Yhanabi soon vanished without a trace, leaving Ninifae and Mountain to fan out and search for her. Upon Yhanabi's return from Ishgard, she has not seen hide nor hair of her old student, but she suspects that like her, she is busy with her own matters.

Mara Lleres(Female Hyur) - A Hyuran female that Yhanabi met back in Ul'dah awhile ago. Having an interest in magic like herself, Yhanabi and Mara got along rather well during their first encounter in the Quicksand. Back then, Mara seemed much happier and content at the time, and Yhanabi found herself comfortable around her along with another associate of magic who was with them, Mesigna Quelzar. Though, after the events Yhanabi had gone through, and after many suns and moons the two met once again, but under different circumstances. While the two both have their own personal problems and concerns that left them bereft of the happiness they seemed to have had before, that didn't stop them from being able to talk once again. However, when Mara learned of Yhanabi's current condition with her aetherial balance & composition and magick capabilities, she suggested delving deeper into her study of Black Magic, something that came as a shock to Yhanabi since, Lahabrea was the last person who suggested the option to commit herself to the discipline. This caused Yhanabi to at first have some doubts, but she quickly realized that, becoming a Sage meant affiliating oneself with ALL elements and alignments of Aether, even those that were daunting to her.

The help would come full circle when Yhanabi met Mara yet again much later, finding her in dismay over a situation, to which Yhanabi tried to cheer her up, however blunt she acted. It was after this point that Mara and Yhanabi began talking more, beginning to rely on each other more over time. Mara would come to be a good friend of Yhanabi in time, embarking together on excursions in such places as the Sunken Temple of Qarn and Sastasha. However, things would begin to turn sour when Yhanabi sees Luna again for the first time in a long time, forcing many of Yhanabi's old feelings to suddenly re-emerge. Upon the mention from the resurrected Luna that there was a way to bring her back whole, Mara saw a change in Yhanabi that frightened her, and quickly things between Mara and Yhanabi worsened as the two had differing opinions on the actions to be taken involving Luna. In Mor Dhona, Mara had enlisted the aid of a Miqo'te named Reppu Hijiri, who threatened to arrest Yhanabi should she go through with her plan to resurrect Luna. It was then that Yhanabi ran, leaving Mara and her companion pondering with what Yhanabi planned to do. Mara has not heard any word from Yhanabi since.

Kasaris Rahkin(Female Lalafell) - a lalafellin girl who has a strange obsession with the dragons and Dravanians of Ishgard and Coerthas. Although she is not the one who effectively saved Yhanabi and her friend Mountain from the Behemoth that attacked them, she has done what she can to help Mountain with her condition, and so Yhanabi is able to trust her to a degree.

Rei'zahnta Elehka(Female Miqo'te) - A Miqo'te woman whom Yhanabi has only just recently met. Despite her strong distrust and dislike of Miqo'tes, Rei'zahnta turned out to be an exception when she realized she shared an interest in the field of magicks as she does, something not commonly known to Yhanabi and her experience with Miqo'tes, and even more so that she is almost nothing at all like the Miqo'tes Yhanabi has had the displeasure of knowing. She realized her significant difference from the general populace of the race when the two ventured outside and had a rather intense discussion about the concept of nature and life itself, as well as the interaction of both concepts in everyday life. It was very much like the kind of relationship Yhanabi and Ellerierre share, but on a much deeper level of understanding, despite the Miqo'te's near emotionless personality. As a result, aside from Ninifae, Rei'zahnta is currently the only Miqo'te which Yhanabi has any real appreciation and trust for, and their interaction has led the two to develop a sort-of "teacher-student" relationship, one in which Yhanabi seems to be perfectly okay with allowing herself to "look inferior to," physically speaking. She is also now the only one who knows Yhanabi's real, family-given name.

Yuki Himura(Female Miqo'te) - Though they haven't given each other their names, Yuki Himura is a Miqo'te whom which Yhanabi has mixed feelings for now. In contrast to the experience she shared with Rei'zahnta, Yuki Himura openly challenged Yhanabi's intelligence and philosophy at every chance she got, to the point Yhanabi came to terms with her own insecurities and promptly ran away, refusing to look weak in front of anyone, especially in the presence of Yuki and the other Miqo'te who was with her. Eventually when the other Miqo'te finds her, so does Yuki, and eventually, after the other Miqo'te leaves, she unexpectedly opens up to Yuki of what she's learned of her family, as well as her reason for learning all of the magicks and, effectively becoming the next Sage in her family. Now, though Yhanabi feels somewhat less distrustful of Yuki, she still is at odds as to what she feels she should do---to either trust her or continue through this venture alone.

Tayelle Ar'mendin(Female Miqo'te) - A Miqo'te female whom she met during the time of Luna's absence. She was able to make her garments for her alchemical productions, during the time when Yhanabi was ousted from Ul'dah. Outside of that, they have not had any prior or continuing interaction, likely due to Yhanabi's now strong dislike and distrust of Miqo'tes.

Enemies

Arscara - A member of the Wisdom of the Paragons, or Ascians, who took a personal interest in Yhanabi. Although Lahabrea is the first to realize who Yhanabi really is, Arscara is the first to take action, frequently causing Yhanabi trouble at every turn. Unlike many of the Ascians, Arscara is very strange in her ways of sensing powerful aether or magic. Instead, she is able to "sniff" out individuals who have a strong aether influence or capacity. As such, Arscara couldn't help but be attracted by Yhanabi's aetherial content, and kept a close eye on her. After the battle with the Ultima Weapon, when Lahabrea is defeated, Yhanabi is swept away into an abyss away from her companions by Arscara, who seeks to take her body for her own. Though she defeats Arscara, in the end manages to slip herself inside her body through the intense aether released from Emiiresa's killing blow. She now inhabits Yhanabi's body, constantly attempting to take over her when her willpower or control is at its weakest.

Other Notes

The Maalevan's Gate

Since her first arrival in Limsa Lominsa, the Maalevan's Gate has kept a tab on Yhanabi after her registry there soon after joining the Arcanist's Guild. Being the daughter of a family of sages, the Maalevan's Gate felt it important to keep as much information on her as possible for future reference, and possibly for consultation should it be needed for whatever reason. This information however, is known full well by Yhanabi, and personally ensures that no one other than Ellerierre and Lydahn, and those with authority within the Maalevan's Gate, are permitted to access it.

Details on Emiiresa Abilyne/Yhanabi Nabi within the Maalevan's Gate

-Emiiresa Abilyne's real name is Yhanabi Nabi, the daughter of the lalafellin Sage MananabĂ Sagenabi, whose whereabouts are currently unknown, and the now deceased Yhokubi Kubi. Based on given details by Yhanabi herself, Emiiresa Abilyne was a name given to her by the Ascians long ago. Her first name takes after her mother's, while her last name her father's.

-Yhanabi Nabi is half-Dunesfolk, part-Plainsfolk, and part-Ala Mhigan, though her dominating trait is Dunesfolk; she is known as a "mutt" in Ul'dah.

-Yhanabi Nabi's mother was one of few survivors of the war of succession in Ala Mhigo.

-Yhanabi Nabi is currently an Archmage, and has prowess in the art of the Monk. She has no known capabilities in the art of the Lancer, Marauder, Gladiator, or Archer.

-Yhanabi Nabi's expertise lies in the art of healing, the White Mage and the Scholar. Although her prowess in the White Mage has declined due to overuse, her abilities in the Scholar have greatly grown and have continued to improve over time. She is now more recognized as a Scholar rather than a White Mage.

-Although the art of the White Mage is no longer widely practiced among the nations, Yhanabi Nabi found the means through many different books and grimoires. However, it was only by the leave of the Elementals and the head of the Conjurer Guild's approval that Yhanabi was allowed to learn its practices.

-Yhanabi Nabi's weakness lies in the art of the Black Mage, her least practiced magick art. The reasons for this, despite her knowledge of all the known magicks, are unknown.

-Yhanabi Nabi's kwown crafting and gathering professions are Botany, Mining, Alchemy, and Goldsmithing, though most of her expertise lies in Botany and Alchemy.

-Yhanabi Nabi was once suspected of participating in illegal actions involving Alchemy, attempting to tamper with the dead in Ul'dah.

-Yhanabi Nabi currently has an apprentice under her wing, Ninifae Nira. UPDATE: Ninifae Nira has now become an established Archmage like her former apprentice, as well as learned other merits of fighting abilities Yhanabi does not possess.

-It has been speculated that Yhanabi Nabi once had a relationship with another female lalafell, and at another point with a male Miqo'te. Although the second is not confirmed, Yhanabi has had, and still continues, to have a noticeable dislike of Miqo'tes.

-Although Yhanabi Nabi is originally from Thanalan, she has more attachments to Gridania, as it is the first place where she officially began practicing magick.

-Yhanabi Nabi has a clear understanding as well as a good relationship with the Sylphs, Kobolds, and Sahagin.

-Yhanabi has been seen increasingly taking part recently in the use of her summoning abilities. Her intentions are not yet known.
