Ylaine Marleigh is a Lominsan hyur born to two Ala Mhigans who fled seeking safety after Gyr Abania fell to the Empire. Her parents resettled in La Noscea and lived in relative peace for a time, her father working as a dockhand and her mother as a fisherwoman until raiders attacked their new home. Both her parents were killed in the attack, and the young survivor was taken to the pirates' base as a slave. She remained there for a number of years before her captors grew too bold in their operations around Limsa Lominsa and drew the attention of the Rogue's Guild. She was subsequently taken in by the Dutiful Sisters of the Edelweiss, where she remained until she was old enough to eventually gain employment as a courtesan under Master Gegeruju's employ in Costa del Sol.
