Yudo Dulakam
Character
Look With Your Eyes
By sight, Yudo is easily identifiable as a Keeper of the Moon. It's marked in more than the shape of her pupils; the color of her skin and hair fall in line with a lunar theme that simply screams her blood heritage. Though she keeps her hair trimmed excessively short, she is mindful to keep it tidy. It lays in a swirling pattern against her scalp, a fine mousse used to keep it in place. The only loose portions of her hair are the braids hanging down either side of her face.
It is not uncommon to find her wearing a pair of spectacles, but given her habit to roam without, it isn't unreasonable to assume that perhaps her vision isn't too far from what it should be. The craftsmanship of her frames is a notch above most, decorated with a simple, elegantly engraved pattern along the outer side of the temples. Aside from her eyeglasses, Yudo's finery is kept minimal. Enough to show her status, yet not so much as to mislead others. Those who're savvy in such matters should have little trouble in telling she's a personal hand for someone of relative importance.
Nice, but not too nice. She will never outshine her employers or their friends; she is an accessory.
Darkened lips often make a lady appear older than they truly are. Yudo is no exception to this. Between her silvery gray hair and choice in makeup alone, most might place her around twenty summers. The youthful appearance of her skin is the only reason that guess may not go much higher. No wrinkles, no scars, the only portion that breaks up the solid ashy blue is the darkened, ruddy coloring of her nose that extends somewhat onto her cheeks.
Follow Your Nose
Few are those who know the world by smell before sight, but for those who do, there's plenty one can determine about Yudo. For one, even in close proximity, there is little in the way of natural body odor from her. She keeps herself meticulously clean and uses a small array of scented products to prolong this state of not smelling quite like a person. To most, it won't be noticed unless they are very near to her, but to those with sensitive sniffers, she stands out. Rose oil is the finishing touch for her hair, and a sandalwood scented cream is frequently applied to her skin. She is no fan of perfume, finding it too overwhelming and too short lived. A fortunate opinion to have, considering that her employers do not allow her such a luxury.
She is an accessory, not meant to outshine the people she serves, only to compliment.
Aside from her cosmetics, those with a keen sense of smell should have little trouble in detecting the presence of snacks. Yudo is in the habit of carrying a small stash of travel food with her. The most common among these are; spiced raptor jerky, dried apple slices with a hint of cinnamon, a variety of roasted nuts, and at least one fresh fruit. Apples, oranges, whatever is handy. Though the variety is limited, there's quite a bit of each.
Do You Hear What I Hear?
Being small and light, Yudo's footfalls are not heavy. She makes no intentional effort to sneak around, but she is easily overlooked. The way she speaks, the pitch of her voice is subject to change based on who she's around. To anyone she suspects might be higher in the pecking order than her (most people are), her voice is kept soft. She enunciates her words and will never try to talk over anyone. If company seems to prefer it, there will always be a smile in her words.
If, however, she's in company on her own level (or lower), her voice is less sweet. The soprano tone drops to a mezzo-soprano and picks up an edge, an unkind hardness. The clash with her other manner of speech is drastic enough that, if one went by voice alone, they might not realize it's the same young lady speaking.
Yudo does not sound happy when speaking naturally, because she is not happy. She is not an accessory, but she is often handled as one.
