Appearance & Personality
- ■Yuhla would call herself stunning, though there is little truly remarkable about her appearance; she has bright azure eyes, a rounded face, dark skin, and thick dark brown hair. She is slightly chubby as she herself is not a very active person and much prefers using magicks, rather than running and swinging with knives and swords, during skirmishes. She admires her body and picks outfits that accentuate her curves nicely, even if she is overdressed for an occasion. She likes both intricate and simple clothing that bring out her skin or her eyes, and she loves anything with golden accessories or red fabric in it. She will, however, not wear garish colors; she much prefers looking classy than flamboyant. Her voice is slightly raspy and deep after years of chronic smoking, and she always has a condescending tone when speaking. She has a beauty mark underneath her lip on the left side of her face, although it is drawn on. At 5'8, she is of above average height for a female Miqo'te, and she uses this height (and the added height heeled-shoes get her) to her advantage to intimidate others.
- ■Personality-wise, she is what most would describe as a "bitch". Always silently judging people on any assortment of criteria and extremely unattainable expectations, she gets annoyed when they do something she doesn't want them to; after all, everyone else exists to serve her. She is quick to anger, but only when provoked, or when someone bests her in something. She gets tired of nobles who constantly pester her with small talk, but secretly she cannot stand it when no one recognizes her. She'd never flat-out say it, but she has an addictive personality-type, especially when it comes to gambling and the rush of making coin.
- ■Yuhla also manipulates others for her own benefit; she'll play the part of a shy maiden, consummate professional, haughty noble (though that comes easy to her) to get the other under her spell and do her bidding. Whether or not she actually has people she calls "friends" is something she will never admit; it complicates things too much. She is rather closed-off in private and the charming air she tries to put around herself all but disappears until she goes back out into public.
- Despite her numerous dubious traits, she can be compassionate when she chooses to be, though those moments are born of spontaneity. She cares about the well-being of those "close" to her more than she likes to admits; she simply has a hard time warming up to people and talking about her actual feelings.
Biography
Past
- Yuhla Yhilzuun, real name Wyra Tebfu, was born into a small Keeper tribe in the South Shroud as the middle child of a family of 4. She never cared much about being in a tribe, and as soon as she turned 17 summers, departed from both her tribe and the Shroud and went on the first airship she could board to wherever the captain was going. She ended up in the bustling streets of Ul'dah with only 60 gil to her name and clothes on her back. She remained like that for a week, until luck stumbled upon her in the form of a small gang of street urchins that stole antiques and materials from the local Goldsmiths guild and resold them for a fraction of the cost. Giving them a name from a former clan-mate that stuck, she joined their little band of misfits and helped them pilfer a number of material crates by distracting the guards and workers with idle chatter and charm.
- This arrangement worked for a time, until the guard finally tracked down their small hideout in Central Thanalan and demanded to know where they were keeping their stolen goods and whom they were selling it to. Yuhla offered them one better; she'd tell them all that as well as the other members various locations and aliases in return for full amnesty. They reluctantly agreed to the offer, and as the members of the gang were placed in barren cells while Yuhla got off free and made connections from her gambling at the Gold Saucer and talking up to Monetarists. She regrets it a bit, as those criminals were the first people to show her kindness in a strange and mostly unknown place, but she was only following her code of conduct: to look after yourself first, no matter the cost.
- At the age of 21, she was betrothed to a Hyur Monetarist known for his investments in the Ceruleum plant in Northern Thanalan after they had met at a social function hosted in the Gold Court. She didn't exactly find much passionate love in their marriage, but she tolerated him for the wealth he produced; that is, until she made a small fortune of her own by sponsoring a popular art show, getting recognized by wealthy Monetarists for it. She divorced the Hyur man, and began to curate her own art gallery, making more gil each show with the generous donations of fellow socialites.
Present
- Yuhla's life hasn't changed very much after the Calamity; sure, it affected the political climate of Ul'dah and the wealth inequality is getting worse, but she's too busy buying the latest dresses for the season from the expensive boutiques. In fact, she feels as though people are a little more unhinged after the fall of Dalamud, something she doesn't mind taking advantage of.
- After Dalamud, she took up the discipline of Thaumaturgy in order to protect herself and gain knowledge in the form of learning ancient powerful magic. She finds it boring following the endless instructions and strict rules of the Guild, but, she feels it is a decent price to pay in order to know different ways to blow someone to smithereens.
