Overview

Silver hair with a slight amethyst hue and eyes with bright red limbal rings. These are the first things most would notice upon setting eyes on Yukari. The amethyst hue, which becomes more apparent in dim light, sets her apart from the rest of the Enbu family. Those versed in the far eastern scripts would be forgiven to think that it's what inspired the name "Yukari", which shares in the same character as the colour violet. Truth be told however, it was a name whimsically chosen by the Raen's mother, based on her favourite evening sky scenery.
Yukari has a slight overbite that sculpts her thin lips into a faint smile. Combined with a small nose, a softly contoured face, and a stature on the shorter end of the spectrum even amongst Auri women, people would mistake Yukari for a child - much to her dismay. And as if to add insult to injury, friends and family alike often teased her for her height (or lack thereof). Albeit always made in good humour, years of hearing those jokes has resulted in Yukari developing a minor complex about her height. "I'm not small!", one would hear her retort. Unfortunately for this Raen, her retorts would usually have the opposite effect and only encourage others to poke more fun at her.
All is well, however. The Auri woman takes it in good stride as she is ever quick to laugh and never known to hold grudges nor dwell in negativity. If anything, there is not much she'd dwell in for very long at all due to her impulsive, fickle and curious nature - a dangerous trifecta that has often lead Yukari and others around her into no shortage of troubles.

Background
Yukari is the younger of the twin daughters born to the main branch of the prestigious Enbu family. In the far eastern tongue, the word "enbu" refers to the practice of martial arts; and true to the Raen traditions, the Enbu is a warrior class family boasting a long line of expert martial artists - each a master in one or more braches of the arts. The family residence itself is a sizeable dojo, which is reknowned for regularly training military units and influential personels.
Though abstain from the ruling parties and politics in general by family principle set by the earlier generations, men and women of the Enbu are expected to achieve and thus carry themselves as elites. This breeds a high pressure environment that Yukari found stifling and ultimately led to her decision to leave the continent altogether. Yukari's mother was never opposed to the idea. On the contrary, she was fully supportive of Yukari's decision - as expected of the free-spirited Raen mother who hailed from a family of musicians, painters and poets. Paternal approval however, was one that had to be won through no small amount of begging and convincing and downright running-away threats. Ever the doting father, the conservative Auri man only begrudgingly agreed to let his daughter go on one condition: Seiya, his most trusted disciple, was to accompany Yukari as her guardian.
So with the blessings from both parents and pack mule Seiya in tow, the young Raen made for the docks. Although hopeful anticipation for what the future might bring and excited of finally leaving the uptight lifestyle behind, there was a gloom that Yukari was unable shake off. That gloom however, soon proved to be unnecessary. As she watched the workers at the dock load her belongings into the ship's hold, a familiar voice called out to her. Yukari snapped her gaze upwards to where the voice came from, and there she was - Chidori, the twin sister she'd thought she had to part from, leaned over the ship deck's railings, waving at her. Without a moment's hesitation, Yukari darted onto the ship, up the flights of stairs towards the deck, and practically flew into Chidori's arms, nearly pushing both of them overboard in the process.
And so the Enbu twins' adventures began. With their glee-filled laughter echoing across the deck, the ship's bell rang, and onwards they sailed - to Eorzea.
